The Lookout Point is a spacious bluff-top home with spectacular 180 degree coastal views. The Pacific Ocean is calling you throughout this spacious comfortable home. Dine with ocean sunset views overlooking Castle Rock each evening. Relax in the hot tub looking down on the roaring ocean, or looking up at the starry night sky. Warm yourself by the fireplace in the cozy living room. The lower level master bedroom has a private entrance to the two-level deck with oceanfront views from your bed. In addition, the third bedroom has an ocean view. The private master bedroom suite with king bed is perched high, capturing the panoramic oceanfront views up and down the coast-from Anchor Bay to Gualala Point. The sound of the ocean will lull you to sleep.
Only a handful of homes can claim their spot along the rugged Gualala bluff. Each one offers unique, individual and astounding ocean views. In this quiet neighborhood, you'll find our lovely vacation home The Lookout Point.
This home is a perfect vacation getaway for 2 or 3 couples, or a family with kids. Two of the three bedrooms are down stairs. The downstairs queen bedroom has a slider to the deck with amazing ocean views, and a few steps off the deck leads to the hot tub.
The living room is spacious with plenty of seating for everyone, great views from the big picture window, a slider to the deck and an open flow into the dining room and kitchen. Equipped with a DVD player and free long distance calling.
Upstairs is the master bedroom with the king size bed and a day bed, a private bath, a walk in closet, and more amazing ocean views.
There are sweeping ocean views from expansive windows in the living room, dining room/kitchen, and bedrooms. While immersed in the ocean's beauty, upon the rhythmic coastal whitewater waves, you may encounter flocks of brown pelicans soaring in flight, Grey whales spouting in migration, or fishing vessels cruising on the coastline. Looking out on the home's wildflower covered bluff, you may gaze upon white-tailed deer grazing, a line of quail scuttling, or a seagull catching a drift-suspended in flight.

Property needs slot of work
Property owners need to go room to room and either fix or replace broken or malfunctioning items.
I did contact the property owners regarding my dissatisfaction. They indicated they were fixing the problems. I would not rent this property again.
The view from the deck is the only thing that kept us there.
The view is great but the house is not so good. We fought ants the whole time.
House needs repairs outside. And needs updating in inside.
Thanks for your review, we have done many repair projects on the house and hope that you will be able to return to enjoy them soon.
Unbeatable view, uncomfortable, poorly maintained property
I saw the photos and read others' reviews so my expectations of the home were not high. But having stayed there, it's really unnaceptable for the price.
Also, when we arrived, there was no key left in the lock box for us so we had to wait for someone to come let us in.
I've stayed at vacation homes across California and sadly, this is the worst one I've ever experienced. There are many other homes in Gualala with just as good of views, as well as comfortable indoor and outdoor spaces. And the view from the jacuzzi is marred by the wind shield, that while nice, hasn't been cleaned in I have no idea how long. The spiders who have taken up residence there are quite pleased though.
The floor is the most comfortable place to sit inside this house. The two couches should be placed in the garbage. And while the view is spectacular and the jacuzzi quite nice (actually, the jacuzzi is the best place to sit), the only place to sit outside is on a splintery deck, or equally splintery and unstable bench. There are 4 plastic chairs in the closet that can be taken outside, which is indicative of how little the owners care about your experience.
There is nothing redeemable about the kitchen. No dishwasher. No garbage disposal. No sharp knives. Lacking in cookware and there is not a single serving platter or anything useful for serving a family. This wasn't such a big deal since it was just my husband and I, but would have been incredibly annoying if we had brought the kids or another family with us. And the open trash can sits in the dining room because it doesn't fit under the sink. Gross.
The beds were atrocious ... I imagine they're 20+ years old. I can barely turn my neck after two nights there. While there are two showers, no other water can be turned on in the house while someone showers, so they can't be used at the same time. And the shower in the master is teeny tiny. Kind of like a gymnasium shower stall. My college dorms had bigger stalls.
Bring your own binoculars and telescope. The ones at the house don't work.
I'm not even going to start on the decor because you can see that from the photos. Ew. But if it was all comfortable and functional it would have been fine. Kitchy and cute even. Instead it's all run down, musty smelling and pretty much unusable.
While we love the area, and being right on the water is lovely, we'll be seeking a different rental next time.
Thank you very much for you review from early July. It has been very helpful in the continued improvements on this home. Since your stay we have replaced the couch, added a bistro table outside and a new bench, plus many kitchen items you had mentioned. We appreciate the feedback and are happy that you enjoyed our area!
Ocean view retreat
The ocean view from this home is spectacular. Very relaxing. We watched a mother deer grazing below with her fawn nearby. The hot tub on the deck by the ocean added to such a relaxing atmosphere. Plenty of towels were provided, as well. This house easily accommodated our entire family comfortably, from grandparents to grandchildren. We loved staying in this comfy home. Wonderful getaway home
We are so happy you and your grandchildren were able to come here and enjoy this family friendly home! We look forward to having you back.
Wonderful family vacation home!
This home was perfect for our family! Comfortable, spacious, AMAZING views, and the hot tub were all great. The wildlife, birds, sunsets etc. were fun to watch. Comfortable beds, great pillows, nice towels. There was a few movies to choose from which my kids enjoyed and my daughter loved the teddy bears! If your looking for a great place to bring your family, this would be a good pick for you!
Not So Great Getaway
Here I spent a hefty amount of money and for that we had expected a nice well oiled house, instead, it was one thing after another, what a waste:
1. the spare key wasn't there, we had to call an have them send us an email saying we wouldn't be charged $35 because it was written in big letters, leave the extra key, we never had an extra key.
2. The TV box was "blown up" said the handyman who came on the second day to repair and said sorry we can't get you a box till next week, So we had no music or TV, Sad!
3. The lounge reclining chair was pushed against the wall because it was broken. You couldn't put the chair length wise flat and lock it in. Plus The foam on all of the furniture is worn out, the furnitures was 40 years old, to say the least. You sink in the couch and feel the wood against your leg where it cuts in, three of us we over 6'4" tall. The furniture is so low, you have to have someone help you up.
4. We had major ANT invasions every day we were there, we constantly had to spray windex and wipe the counters for ants. TERRIBLE !!!
5. The only access to the house is through front door, everything has to be carried up the steps into the kitchen.
6. The plates and utensils are from cheap early chinese vintage, nice glass bowls, knives have never been sharpened, dull as hell.
7. All kitchen chairs are hardwood with no cushion, you can't sit around the breakfast table as the chairs are all hardwood.
8. The wainscoting is weather beaten and not attached at the joints. Two outside chairs on the deck, otherwise if you want to have a drink outside, stand up and enjoy it.
9. The rug is a shag that was popular in the 70's and is ugly as sin.
10. We'll never go back to this house as the owner probably has the first dime he ever earned stuck between some cobwebs in his wallet as he has deferred all maintenance until the twelfth of never.
11. The TV, which didn't work was a $150 dollar 26" x 30" flat screen, (bravo) However, the owner should put in a proper television for the amount of money charged for his house, don't be cheap all of your life.
WHAT WE DID LIKE? THIS HOUSE HAS A GREAT VIEW! IT'S THE ONLY REDEEMING QUALITY FOR THIS RENTAL.
Suggestions? Buy a new rug, TV, recliner, Couch, kitchen chairs, an please put some good soap in the bathroom, we are not in Budapest in a cheap Hotel !!!!
Thank you for your very thorough list, and we do apologize that you found so many inconveniences at the house. We always strive to make sure our vacationers have a good experience here on our Coast, and are disappointed that we missed the mark on yours.
This home has been in the family for awhile, and is undergoing a transition to a welcoming vacation home. We have been working diligently bringing many items up to date, and still have many more on the list. We appreciate you helping us direct which way is most important to go first. We did get the home treated for the ants, and trust that this concern is resolved. The kitchen has had many items replaced and upgraded since your visit last month. And as we had discussed the owner had already been meeting with contractors regarding the exterior work and painting that needs to be done. We have pushed these projects into higher gear to ensure future guests have an enjoyable experience. While this home is newer to our program we have had many successful guest stays at this house. We will update our photos and house details online as we progress so, as we want our representation to be timely and accurate of what can be expected. The setting is phenomenal and upgrades to the house will continue to make it a welcoming destination.
