Charming Mountain Cottage
We made this our base for our most recent trip to lovely, leafy Leura. We were welcomed to our cosy cottage with a bottle of red and some chocolates, which were gratefully received and enjoyed whilst soaking in the cast iron, claw foot bath. Our stay was warm and comfortable. A very pretty part of the world.
It was absolutely beautiful, such a lovley country cottage. The bath was amazing looking out at the garden. It was super cozy and we had the most fantastic time. We will defiantly be back!
We loved the decor and the warm feeling the cottage gave, bedrooms were beautiful, we were very happy, and was more than we expected.
Thankyou Tory, we are glad you and your family had a lovely stay at Mon Cheri and appreciate your taking the time to write a review..
Perfect Weekend Away
We had a girls weekend away and we really enjoyed this beautiful place! It was so picturesque, well equipped with beautiful teapots and teacups, lovely french furnishings, a welcome pack with tea, chocolates and wine - perfect for a joint 30th Birthday.
Thanks Meg for the kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the house and even some of the family heirlooms such as the fine china teacups we love to see used. We hope to host you and the girls again soon.
My partner and I and 3 children stayed at Mon Cheri for Father's Day weekend. We absolutely the loved it! Gorgeous little garden for the kids to explore, lovely bath and four post bed, we found it such a cozy and lovely place to stay. So close to restaurants, shops and scenic world. We had a lovely weekend and would definitely recommend for any couple/family.
Thanks Kelly, its great that the kids loved the house and gardens. They certainly have a few areas to explore both in the herb and flower garden at the front and the orchard behind. We hope to host you again soon.
Weekend at Leura
Really enjoyed out mid winter stay at Mon Cheri - Heaters in every room kept the cold mountain air at bay making our stay warm and cosy. Charming old house nicely decorated. Spotlessly clean with good quality linens and pillows. Appreciated the tea and coffee basket on arrival.
Needs some TLC
We had such high hopes for this charming cottage, it is very cute, but were disappointed by the need for quite a few simple repairs to the house. I was hesitant in writing a review, but I think a heads up is needed here. If maintenance is required to be done, the house should be take off the list until it's up to date. I understand very well the upkeep of these old beauties, as we owned one just like it. There was a hole in the door jamb to the front door (the door itself had been painted the very afternoon we arrived, leaving it tacky to touch.. found that out when we touched the door to open it ) which let cold air in, also another hole in the floor of the 3rd bedroom letting the cold air in there too, there is old mould on the third bedroom blinds, which need attention. The extension cord in the front bedroom didn't work, so the electric blanket was only able to work on the side that was closest to the power point, leaving the other side cold. There was no soap for the baths, only hand pump soap for the hand basins. The towels need replacing as they had marks on them, as did the pillows, though we brought our own pillows. There was nowhere to put your toiletries in the bathrooms, a little table in the corner would've been very handy. There is no window coverings on the dinning room window which is right next to the beautiful gas heater, letting the warm air escape instead of doing its job. The bed in the second bedroom is very uncomfortable, dipping in the middle, leaving you trying to cling to the outer realms of the bed, though the linens were beautiful! I feel with a few repairs the house would be outstanding, but in cold weather these holes in the floors and non working extension cords really need to be attended to.
Anne, we are sorry you were disappointed with some aspects of the house. We were renovating and unfortunately, when I asked, for your benefit, that the front door be painted before you arrived, it was done with oil paint, not the quick drying vinyl paint I expected. Please call in future if there are any issues, as the cleaner and handyman are available to meet any problems at short notice.
