Locked away in the beautiful whispering pines just below the dam sits a secluded cabin with a great wrap-around deck along with an area below for a fire (when permitted). River fishing down the road about a mile. Rustic loving place. There is one bedroom upstairs and one downstairs with a queen upstairs and a double with a twin bunk bed downstairs. One bathroom with a cute breakfast nook overlooking the quiet serenity of the beautiful Coloardo mountains.

Quiet, quaint, all you need.
Went here as a last minute getaway with my husband and 2 kids aged 6 and 4. Quaint place with all you need. Great natural lighting and ample back deck with a grill. We simply hung out, relaxed, went to Durango, Silverton, Purgatory, and Mesa Verde. Great memories were made.
Bath downstairs from adult bed. A frame caused head knocks.
Nice views from the back but living room very small with spiral staircase in the middle of it. Hit our heads climbing up to bed due to the slopes from it being an A Frame. If you needed the bathroom at night you had to watch your head going to and down the staircase and down stairs to use the bath. The home was clean and stocked well. Did not like travelling another 5 miles around the lake to get the key after a long drive, when there was one actually right on the front porch in the lock box.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry that we did not notify you of the lock box prior to your arrival to save you the trip. We had gotten away from using this method due to the number of guest coming up to the office anyways and us taking them down there. We will start offering this as an option again.
This vacation home definately has it's own unique charm that we try to capture in pictures. We apologize for any and all head bumps on the A-Frame roof.
All-in-all we hope you enjoyed your stay in Vallecito!
Charming and Secluded
The cabin is near Vallecito Lake and is very secluded. The surroundings are very nice, there are tall Ponderosa's on the property, 2 rope swings, large decks, and you have access to the Pinos River down the lane to enjoy as well. The furnishings are nice and you get that mountain feel while you are there. There is room for 5 and even though the cabin is smaller it feels cozy. There are towels, dishes, and linens for guests. The beds are hard. There is no AC, but gets cool at night. I would recommend reaching out to the owners to open the windows prior to your arrival to cool off the cabin. You can get a cell signal about another 150 yards down the lane the cabin is on or by the businesses on the lake. The Vallecito RV Resort up the street also has a WiFi Hotspot long with laundry. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend this cabin if you looking to stay in the Durango area and get that off the grid experience.
Cozy cabin in beautiful setting! We loved our vacation in the Durango area. So much to see and do and this cabin is the perfect place to stay and be close to it all. Will be back!
Great spot in magical woods environment.
This place exceeded our expectations. The woods here are very special and, at least in mid Sept, we felt we had the whole area to our selves. The cabin is very well appointed. Not a lot of room for a larger family but plenty for a couple with one or two kids.
Nice place. Very quiet neighborhood. Deer and turkey in yard, daily.
We enjoyed our stay. Only issue was, we couldn't get microwave to work and shower could use new shower head as holes are clogged.
We now have a brand new microwave along with a new shower head and a new valve to increase water pressure.
The Deer Trail is located in the near Weminuche wilderness area surrounded by tall pine trees with Lake Vallecito 1/2 mile away. We have numerous wildlife walking through our property.
