About Sharon Fahrer
We moved to Asheville in 1996 from Long Island. Our cottage was built in 2000 when my mother moved up from Florida. I have a walking tour business which includes tours of downtown, BIltmore Village, Riverside Cemetery and Montford. This is a great neighborhood for walking, has bus access and some great restaurants.
Sharon Fahrer purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Sharon Fahrer chose Historic Montford
This is a unique property. It is nestled behind an 1896 Queen Ann Victorian. The yard is full of trees and borders on Montford Park. You feel like you are in the woods, but can walk to amenities in the downtown and neighborhood. Montford ia a vibrant neighborhood with events such as a tour of homes in December and a music and art festival in May. There is also free Shakespeare on summer weekends.
What makes this Cottage unique
We designed this house to have all the necessities on the main floor such as waher/dryer, deck space, bedroom with large closet and pocket doors. The second bedroom is o the ground level and can be accessed directly from outside so the main floor is not disturbed if desired. There is a dry below grade storage area.

Great location, wonderful accommodations, thoughtful hosts
We spent the month of October, weather was perfect and we became very comfortable as pseudo residents, learning about neighborhoods in and around Asheville. Sharon & Vic were great hosts, responding quickly to our every need. We WILL be back.
Each of our guests is very special. We enjoy giving out information and answering questions based on our 22 years of experience living in Asheville and Montford.
In a heartbeat
Fantastic 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage in historic Montford district. Well appointed. Parking. Close to it all. Sharon & Vic are both very helpful & accommodating landlords. Would return in a heartbeat.
An unusually terrific rental! Grab it, if it’s available!!!!
My hosts, Sharon & Vic, are amazingly wonderful! They are kind & helpful & exceptionally knowledgeable about the neighborhood. In fact, Sharon has a good deal of expertise on the history of the neighborhood & offers local walking tours, which are excellent!
(Her own house is one of the historic homes on the tour!)
The rental cottage in back of the house is beautiful & offers lively views of Montford Park, as well as a view of her terraced, stone patios & gardens! There's a lovely deck at the
back of the house, where one can enjoy breakfast/lunch, surrounded by nature.
There's tons of storage & everything is well-appointed & charming!
This is an exceptional rental, with one bedroom & bathroom on the first floor & a really spacious bedroom & work space on the lower level.
I recommend Sharon's rental without reservation! It's well located, close to great shopping & the neighborhood is just north of downtown Asheville!
Couldn't be more pleased with a rental!
P.S. When a friend couldn’t make it over to help me pack up & move out, Sharon & Vic pitched in to help me pack up my stuff & load the car!
They’ve been excellent hosts, for the past two months & I could have wished for a more delightful two month stay in Asheville’s lovely Historic Montford neighborhood!
Sharon & Vic’s rental cottage is an exceptional find, in every way!!!!
(Ideally located, beautifully furnished & exceptionally well maintained by owners, it’s a great place to stay!!!!
What We Hoped For & More.
We looked forward to the modern cottage and furnishings as advertised and we hoped for our selection of location for a rental serving as an advantage for us. We were not disappointed. The location of this cottage in the historic district is excellent in several ways: it is centrally located for virtually anywhere you want to go in the Asheville area, and it is adjacent to a park, plenty of areas to walk, and close to several interesting sites and restaurants. An unexpected bonus to our visit was the presence (They live in the home on the front of property) of the proprietors who served as an excellent resource for virtually anything and everything related to Asheville. They guided us to many interesting places and were very helpful with detailed information about anything we had questions about. They helped our visit to be most comfortable and enjoyable.
Absolutely perfect in every way. A gem!
My husband and I spent 3 months in this fabulous cottage in the best location in Asheville. Everything about it was comfortable and convenient. With all the pictures in the listing, it still exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was fully stocked with very nice dishes, pots, pans and appliances. We had everything we needed. The living room was so comfortable with a recliner type sofa and large screen TV. Everything we needed was on one floor, the laundry room too. Also the cottage is very nicely decorated. The bedroom was spacious with a walk-in closet and plenty of drawer space in the big unit. The bed was actually more comfortable than my bed at home. Also, very nice to have the desk in the bedroom. We did use the bedroom/sitting area downstairs. My husband used the desk a lot and I loved having a place to go and watch my Netflix shows. Sharon and Vic are great hosts/landlords, they are close enough to help with whatever you need, but keep their own distance. The outdoor space is wonderful with a deck and 2 patios. We really enjoyed the landscaping and plantings, even in March we had quite a beautiful show. Montford is the most desirable location in Asheville. It is beautiful and charming and very close to downtown, the River Arts District and UNCA. We love Asheville and would certainly stay here again.
Perfect cottage in Historic Montford
We stayed for 2 months at Vic's and Sharon's cottage and loved every minute. The cottage is a perfect size with all necessities on the first level and an extra bedroom for guests/children on the lower level. The description provided for the cottage was completely accurate and the neighborhood and the adjacent Montford Park provided easy walks for our dogs as well as being a wonderful walking destination on its own. Sharon and Vic were helpful and available when necessary. This rental has our highest recommendation.
So glad that you were able to take advantage of the Montford and nearby amenities. There is an incredible variety of things to do in Asheville and so many of them are within walking distance from out house. It was a pleasure having you.
Located in the historic Montford neighborhood, next to Montford Park, it is a short walk to downtown, grocery stores, the University of North Carolina Asheville and their botanical garden. Also near historic Riverside Cemetery final resting place of O Henry and Thomas Wolf. Very picturesque historic neighborhood with great restaurants in walking distance.
