About Sharon Fahrer
We moved to Asheville in 1996 from Long Island. Our cottage was built in 2000 when my mother moved up from Florida. I have a walking tour business which includes tours of downtown, BIltmore Village, Riverside Cemetery and Montford. This is a great neighborhood for walking, has bus access and some great restaurants.
Sharon Fahrer purchased this Cottage in 2000
Why Sharon Fahrer chose Historic Montford
This is a unique property. It is nestled behind an 1896 Queen Ann Victorian. The yard is full of trees and borders on Montford Park. You feel like you are in the woods, but can walk to amenities in the downtown and neighborhood. Montford ia a vibrant neighborhood with events such as a tour of homes in December and a music and art festival in May. There is also free Shakespeare on summer weekends.
What makes this Cottage unique
We designed this house to have all the necessities on the main floor such as waher/dryer, deck space, bedroom with large closet and pocket doors. The second bedroom is o the ground level and can be accessed directly from outside so the main floor is not disturbed if desired. There is a dry below grade storage area.

Absolutely perfect in every way. A gem!
My husband and I spent 3 months in this fabulous cottage in the best location in Asheville. Everything about it was comfortable and convenient. With all the pictures in the listing, it still exceeded our expectations. The kitchen was fully stocked with very nice dishes, pots, pans and appliances. We had everything we needed. The living room was so comfortable with a recliner type sofa and large screen TV. Everything we needed was on one floor, the laundry room too. Also the cottage is very nicely decorated. The bedroom was spacious with a walk-in closet and plenty of drawer space in the big unit. The bed was actually more comfortable than my bed at home. Also, very nice to have the desk in the bedroom. We did use the bedroom/sitting area downstairs. My husband used the desk a lot and I loved having a place to go and watch my Netflix shows. Sharon and Vic are great hosts/landlords, they are close enough to help with whatever you need, but keep their own distance. The outdoor space is wonderful with a deck and 2 patios. We really enjoyed the landscaping and plantings, even in March we had quite a beautiful show. Montford is the most desirable location in Asheville. It is beautiful and charming and very close to downtown, the River Arts District and UNCA. We love Asheville and would certainly stay here again.
Perfect cottage in Historic Montford
We stayed for 2 months at Vic's and Sharon's cottage and loved every minute. The cottage is a perfect size with all necessities on the first level and an extra bedroom for guests/children on the lower level. The description provided for the cottage was completely accurate and the neighborhood and the adjacent Montford Park provided easy walks for our dogs as well as being a wonderful walking destination on its own. Sharon and Vic were helpful and available when necessary. This rental has our highest recommendation.
So glad that you were able to take advantage of the Montford and nearby amenities. There is an incredible variety of things to do in Asheville and so many of them are within walking distance from out house. It was a pleasure having you.
A Wonderful Surprise
This full size cottage represented our first stay in Montford in our 6 Summers spending time in greater Asheville.....this time, for a full month.
It was a great house, in a terrific area. We loved Montford itself and also for its accessibility to downtown. Owners, Sharon and Vic, were wonderful hosts.
Montford is a very special neighborhood within walking distance to restaurants, downtown, the botanical gardens and UNC Asheville as well as historic Riverside Cemetary. If you like to walk this is the neighborhood for you!
Set back from the main street, quiet, surrounded by trees, landscaped gardens, and Montford Park. Very convenient to town center. Very friendly neighborhood. Great area for walking. the place was fully stocked with kitchen, linen, TV, Wifi. Ready for you to just unpack your bags and enjoy Asheville. Landlords are great!
Thank you. You are great tenants! We are so glad to welcome you to our neighborhood! It is wonderful that you are enjoying so many of the amenities of Montford.
We rented this cottage for November and December. It was very comfortable and roomy, and the location was great. Downtown is minutes away offering great restaurants and shopping. We particularly enjoyed the Montford area, as the homes and the residents are unique. The owners were lovely and very helpful. We would definitely rent this cottage again.
We were so glad that you took advantage of some of the many things Montford and downtown Asheville have to offer. We enjoyed having you and look forward to your return!
A great way to visit Asheville
We arrived from the San Francisco Bay Area a few years ago, and found very comfortable accommodations at 333 1/2 Montford Avenue. The kitchen was well stocked with anything I needed for cooking and serving, internet and TV worked perfectly, and the bedrooms were comfortable--I can't think we lacked anything. At one point the dishwasher had problems, and was fixed within a day.
The location was the thing, though. The deck outside in the back was quiet, and I've never, ever seen such a variety of birds. At first I thought the deck was small, but really, all I needed was my chair and a small table, and I could watch the birds! I spent so much time outside on that deck.
It's immediately next to Montford Park, so within a hundred yards of a tennis court, grass and benches. The landscaping is well maintained, and yet we felt we were in a wildish national park.
Sharon and Vic were never intrusive, yet helpful with information and anything we needed. A perfect place for us to land in Asheville.
Thanks for your review. You were great guests. We enjoy welcoming our guests and sharing all the wonderful things to do and see in Asheville. We are nearby so we can address any problems in our cottage quickly. Having a park next door and lots of trees gives the feeling of being in the woods while you can walk to Montford restaurants and downtown Asheville in a short time.
Located in the historic Montford neighborhood, next to Montford Park, it is a short walk to downtown, grocery stores, the University of North Carolina Asheville and their botanical garden. Also near historic Riverside Cemetery final resting place of O Henry and Thomas Wolf. Very picturesque historic neighborhood with great restaurants in walking distance.
