The house was comfortable, accommodated our family nicely, and gave each enough space to gather or space to retreat for some alone time.
The house is not centrally located to the areas we were visiting, but wasn't a big issue. In the 4- nights we stayed, we traveled 300+ miles, saw a lot! Yes, we'd been here a few times before.
The master upstairs was considerably hot during the night. The downstairs esp tv room was quite cold. There were blankets, but inside temp just wasn't comfortable. The heat just traveled upstairs. We had the firplace on downstairs which was quite warming, but only if you were sitting close to it.
A big disappointment was the freezer. When we landed, we stopped at the grocery store on the way to the house. As we were unpacking and putting the groceries away, much to our surprise, the freezer was completely FULL! No room for anything we had purchased.. The ice cream was a total loss, among other items! It was just creepy and weird to think that no one emptied it for renters. I didn't want to use the owner's groceries. It had to be theirs as the pantry was also full! We have rented many homes on vacations, and this is the FIRST of this experience. We didn't like this.
There was a bottle of wine on the "island" near the binder for renters. If that was intended for us, a nice welcoming note would have been nice. We didn't open it. Again, just weird!
My suggestions as experienced in many other VRBO rentals:
List of WHERE to find items you KNOW renters need, as i personally don't like going through someone else's cabinets.. where YOU store items is not always going to be where i store mine. OR, just leave them in a central location, such as laundry room. (Detergent, trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, etc)
If you're going to only leave half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom, at least have another roll NEARBY! This was NOT THE CASE in the master upstairs! Really?! All stores have those storage racks where you can stack a few and place near the commode if there's not a shelf nearby!
The kicker in the contract: start a load of towels in the washing machine BEFORE LEAVING! REALLY?? Maybe you should check when the renters flight is. As it was, we were all adults, had packed the night before, but still had to make and eat breakfast, clean up kitchen, RUN DISHWASHER, shower if necessary, complete packing, and head to the airport by 8am!
I'm on the fence on my rating... was just weird!
We are so glad you were able to enjoy the South Puget Sound and all the surrounding areas during your stay! With regard to the hot/cold issues we wish this would have been brought to our attention during your stay as we have never had an issue like this and would have had someone come out and see if it was something with the furnace/central heating; especially as there hasn't been any mention by other guests since your stay.
We stock pantries with the essentials for your stay but apologize that it felt this strange -- we try to ensure that essentials are provided (oil, condiments, etc.) so you do not need to purchase. But we will definitely keep this in mind going forward. With regard to the freezer, that definitely is not okay, and again wish it would have been brought to our attention upon your arrival as we would have sent our cleaning staff back to the home to empty the freezer. It should have been empty, and truly apologize that it was not.
The welcome binder at the home lists much necessary information wifi information, tv information, location of extra blankets; trash bags, detergent, etc. were under the kitchen sink as we feel this is the easiest place to locate such items (with the exception of laundry detergent being on top of the washing machine, and toilet paper being under each bathroom sink). The welcome binder was located on the island with the bottle of wine that we leave for our guests to enjoy upon their arrival. Nevertheless, we are sorry you felt as though items were not easy to locate.
With regard to starting the towels we are sorry this was an issue -- if you were leaving early we of course understand that you may not have time and don't want it to feel like an annoyance, but if you let us know it would have been fine to not start the wash. Similarly, with the length of time a dishwasher takes to run we just ask renters to start it so that it will be done by the time the cleaning staff arrives for turnover as with the normal 11 am checkout there is limited time before the 4 pm checkin. If we had known you had an early flight it wouldn't have been an issue and we would have gotten the cleaning team there early to begin the extra loads with time to get it done before next guests.
We truly apologize for the few inconveniences and wish we would have had the opportunity to make things right during your stay. We hope we will have the chance to make it up to you in the future.
Best regards, Harbor Home Team
Great house for eight adults
I spent Christmas with my adult children and some of their significant others at this property. We even had a white Christmas which was special. With four large bedrooms and 3.5 baths, the house was very comfortable for eight adults, even when spending most of our time indoors. The large kitchen (two ovens) made it easy for meals and the family/TV room was the popular hang out. The dining table was a bit small, but we are an informal family so worked fine for Christmas dinner. Every thing worked and we did not need to contact the owners. We did appreciate the decorated Christmas tree to put gifts under. This was the first Christmas with all the family together in 5 years, which my kids were thankful for. Thank you!
So sorry about the table! It is intended to seat the number of people that can sleep at the home (8). We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at the property, otherwise!
Nice space, great for family dinners and relaxing.
Our entire group of 8 was very impressed and enjoyed our stay enormously! The house is lovely and the furnishings are beautiful. The kitchen is fully equipped and instructions are clear along with suggestions of places to go and see. The master bedroom is amazing! We were unable to get the fireplace to work in there, but other than that everything was great. We would all stay there again anytime we are in the area.
Beautiful, clean home with a breath taking view of the water!!
We hope you enjoyed your time and hope to have you again!
Very nice - as advertised
The house is beautiful... everything very clean, beds were comfortable, property manager was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you again!
