About Penelope Haley
We are a mother/daughter (+ family) team running this holiday let. The property was built by us in 2012 and we have enjoyed sharing both the property and all that Coles Bay offers with many guests. Susan does the cleaning of the property. Penelope does the administration.
Penelope Haley purchased this House in 2012
Why Penelope Haley chose Coles Bay
We started coming here in about 1980, camping firstly in tents then upgrading to an old Viscount Caravan and always mucking about in boats. When the opportunity arose to purchase land, we did. Warren designed the house for us and we have enjoyed many happy times here since.
What makes this House unique
Our holiday home features all mod cons including an "Air Spa" in the main bedroom ensuite. A king size bed in this room, Double bed in the second bedroom and two singles in the third bedroom. Front and rear decks to capture sun all day. BBQ, dishwasher and front loader washing machine. Access is flat, and there are no stairs within the house. As we are bordered by the Coles Bay conservation area to the rear and National park to our east we are quite secluded. There are many beautiful bushwalks and bike riding tracks eminating from our block. There is a water view through trees from the main living area and the front deck. Richardsons beach is a 10-15 minute walk down the hill, left into the National Park car park where there are tracks to a very safe beach. Bird life is abundant as is native wildlife at dusk.

Just what we needed
Thank you to Susan and Penelope - quiet location, great furniture and fittings, everything was very comfortable, relaxing and felt homely. Birds chirping in the morning, good coffee, beautiful deck and even a great selection of books. HIGHLY recommended for those who want quiet, comfort and somewhere that's not crawling with tourists but right in the heart of Coles Bay.
Was a great house in a great spot
Would absolutely rent the house again!
Great location and beautiful home
Everything you need for a great family holiday. Location in a court, easy walk to town or bushwalks. Excellent amenities in a very cosy home.
We enjoyed our stay very much. We were very happy with the house.
Great place to stay, very peaceful
Had a fantastic experience at Mopokes. House was spotless and modern and had a nice outlook through the bush. Penny and Susan were very accommodating of changes to our original booking and responded very promptly to all correspondence. Would definitely stay again!
Thanks Dave, so pleased you enjoyed your stay and your early morning hike up Mt Amos to view a spectacular sunrise.
We had a wonderful stay at Mopokes,
This house had everything that you needed in every way
well equipped kitchen, just a beautiful home
we did some walking around wine glass bay which is very pretty
there are no blinds around most of the house which maybe good to have some more to be a bit more private but did not worry us while we were there as there was no one around,
all in all a great place to stay while at Coles Bay
Our property “Mopokes” is located in a quiet bush setting with Coles Bay Conservation area to the north and National Park to the east. There are many bush tracks and fire trails for the bush walker, mountain biker and even a serious 4wd track through to the southern end of Friendly Beaches starting right near our boundary. About a 10 minute walk down the hill, through the National Park caravan park is the beautiful Richardson’s Beach. Stroll along the waterfront to Freycinet Lodge to enjoy the view over Great Oyster Bay. Witness amazing sunsets while enjoying a drink or meal.
