Wonderful gathering of old friends!

  • 5 of 5

The house was wonderful and more! The history that was throughout the house peaked our interest from the moment we opened the door. We were ten women reuniting after our 50th high school reunion and wanted a peaceful quite space to revisit old memories and create new ones. We certainly accomplished that and more. If the house has ears, I think it enjoyed itself too! We had more than enough space for everyone to have privacy when needed and the living space was a cozy spot that we gathered every morning and evening. We shared all of dinner meals in the large dining room. The paths for walking were great and as hard or easy as you wanted them to be. It was a great way to start the day!! I think Alabama Jubilee will be a great return for a family vacation in my future!

The Montreat conference and college area has many natural attractions that include strolling around beautiful Lake Susan at the heart of town. The Ten Thousand Villages store offers shopping for global gifts for fair trade exchange. The snack bar and soda fountain offer a beautiful viewing area of Lake Susan's waterfall. There is a nature center open in the summer offering trail maps for nearby hikes. Robert Lake Park provides a wonderful playground with a mountain stream, a favorite gathering spot for families with young children, playdates and picnics. Montreat is just a few miles from the heart of downtown Black Mountain, with its many local shops and restaurants, and 15 miles to Asheville's many attractions.
