About Kevin Wiles

Welcome to COSY Farms. When we decided to buy a place where we and our families could get away from the "city life", we decided to REALLY get away, and picked a very remote location in a very small town.

Kevin Wiles purchased this lodge in 2010

Why Kevin Wiles chose Washburn

COSY Farms has allowed us to grow our own, all natural foods, and share our philosophy of self-sustainability with those who visit the farm that have interest - or just give folks a way to "get back to nature".

What makes this lodge unique

The ponds, creek, pastures, views, and old, huge trees, together with the uniqueness of the homes and barns located on the property (a cabin and barn that are over 150 years old), and seashells in the rocks at the top of the mountain (if you are able to make it up there), remind us all of what has been, and of what is really important.

Rest, Relaxation, and Restoration at Cosy Farms

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderfully restful getaway at The Lodge. We have stayed in many places booked through differing companies. Often you cannot really tell what you are getting until you arrive. Kevin & Tina have gone far & above with attention to detail & preparation. We particularly appreciated the comfortable bed, ample towels & supplies, and well outfitted kitchen. This is important because it is about 30 minutes to the closest town with restaurants, so it is necessary to eat most meals at the Lodge. Also, the Lodge is pet-friendly, so they even fenced a portion of the yard in back so your pet can be out without a leash. Although somewhat “off the grid”, there is still plenty to do with the farm animals, fishing, hiking, a golf cart to ride around on, and even a fire pit out back for S’mores! Wood for fire pit and wood-burning stove in Lodge is plentifully provided. The Lodge is comfortably spacious for a couple or for the whole family. Also, just 45 minutes to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. We would highly recommend this property!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind words, and for the note you left behind. I was able to fix the couch and had no idea that the gas was out on the grill. The note was very helpful. Hope you guys come back soon. Thanks Kevin

Wonderful Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Cosy Lodge was a little slice of heaven. My husband and I rented it for the long Columbus Day weekend, and invited our college-age children to come. They did, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. They were glad to have internet for their devices, but did not even use them so much. We enjoyed riding in the golf cart, watching Kevin feed the animals, having s'mores over the campfire, and hiking around the trail. When Hurricane Nate came, we played board games and the Nintendo that the kids brought. The lodge was immaculately clean, had plenty of space, and had every amenity we could have wanted. Nicely done! :)

Enjoy Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Dollywood- BUT STAY HERE!

  • 5 of 5

Okay- this is going to be my longest review ever. Staying at Tina and Kevin's Lodge was truly wonderful. The Lodge is on a large piece of acreage that has million dollar views of the pastures and mountains. They have farms with different animals- goats, llamas, chickens, horses, donkey, and fish ponds, but you are very secluded from everything. They have a golf cart that seats 4 for your use the whole stay and it was so much fun for my sons, 10 and 12, to ride it down to the different animals and pet them during the day. Then in the evening they got to help feed the animals. There is a fire pit and lots of seating outside on the large covered deck. The lodge has everything you could possibly need and the beds and recliners (and reclining sofa!) are super comfortable! We only causally mentioned it was my sons birthday and when we arrived at the lodge, a banner saying "Happy Birthday" was outside to greet us. They also had accessible showers and a ramp in case you require that. Our miniature poodle loved running around the fenced yard. It was fun exploring the grounds during the day- we saw wild turkeys and rabbits. There is a hiking trail and really nice gazebo with double swing next to one of the ponds. And unlike most places, there isn't a bunch of rules all over the place. It's better than staying with dear friends or family because you get so much privacy, but with all the benefits of a comfortable house and gorgeous property. The owners have made it so comfortable you will not want to leave. The lodge is IMMACULATE. I wish my own home was that well stocked and clean! Awesome kitchen and a Weber gas grill out on the deck made it easy to cook our own meals. We didn't have to leave except for once in the evening to get something from the grocery store, but when I mentioned that as my sons were feeding the goats, Kevin insisted on giving us that item from his own home because he didn't want us to have to drive into town to get it. That was way beyond anything I would have ever expected. It is out in the country so a grocery store would be 30 minutes away. But that is the best part- you are in the mountains, you can actually see the stars, you have perfect peace and quiet. It's paradise and the owners are so friendly, so accommodating and hospitable that I never want to stay anywhere else! Do yourself a favor and stay here- Gatlinburg and Dollywood are a short drive. You won't find a better place.

Thank you Tina and Kevin! We'll be back!

We've stayed at many beautiful cabins in the mountains of TN and NC but what made this place truly unique was the experience. We had the opportunity to experience a few days on the farm, enjoy trails right next to the Lodge, enjoy a beautiful view, beautiful scenery and meet wonderful people! The Lodge was very clean, it had everything we needed and, the host, Kevin, was beyond welcoming and accommodating. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!!! We look forward to visiting again.

Very secluded and peaceful location. If you want to get away from it all, but still drive to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Morristown, Knoxville or Bristol for a day of park activities, shopping, fishing, a football game or a race, you're not that far away. But at the end of the day, you can come back to a night, or a couple of days, of truly quiet time.

The Farm is situated between Norris Lake and Cherokee Lake; access to either is within a 20 minute drive, and both have boat rentals (if you don't have your own) for great fishing.

The Farm itself has 2 stocked, spring fed ponds, and several farm animals that are "kid friendly".

Only serious hikers should attempt to hike up the portion of Clinch Mountain located on the Farm, but all are welcome to try.

If you have a horse of your own, we have a stable available, along with a pasture for overnight/weekend stays, and know of a few nice rides in the area.

Nights by the fire pits, especially in the Fall and Spring, are truly COSY.

Bird watching and wildlife viewing are incredible, as we have several acres of "untouched" forest on the Farm...deer, turkey, many bird species, butterflies, fox squirrels, lightning bugs...there is always something to watch, no matter the season.

The "Lodge" as we call it, has basic TV and a stereo system, a DVD/VHS player and a landline (as most cell phone carriers are not covered in this area).

It is truly a place to be "on vacation" for a few days or a week. Read, listen to music, enjoy the outdoors, and most of all, the peace and quiet...get COSY!
