About the property

Beautifully renovated self-catering accommodation suitable for all ages.

This beautifully renovated 19th Century cottage is located in a conservation area only 120 metres from the harbour of West Looe. Modern self-catering facilities throughout include a lovely open plan living room and superb fitted kitchen/dining area, double bedroom & twin bedded rooms adjacent to the first floor family bathroom, and an impressive master bedroom equipped with en-suite double shower room. Additionally a small utility room offers a washer/dryer. With level access by foot, the cottage it's suitable for all ages. The safe, sandy beach is just 500 metres and is popular with bathers and boarders. The old town of Looe is a maze of tiny lanes and quaint cottages. There is a nice assortment of shops to suit all tastes as well as many good restaurants (Carvery, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Pubs) Suitable for romantic short breaks + family holidays alike, Looes' oldest pub and best Deli are just a couple of facilities close at hand.

We are very proud of Dreamporth and the quality of accommodation we offer our guests so our cottage is decorated from top to bottom annually.

Locality: Polperro, Seaton, Millendreath are all within walking distance for the energetic or can be reached easily by car or on one of the regular boat trips from Looe harbour. The Cornish Coast path passes right through Looe & offers some amazing coastal views & wonderful walks (west to Fowey and east to Rame Head). Boat trips also run to Looe Island where seal watching is a favourite pass-time. Glass bottomed boats also offer a window into the rich local aquatic environment. There is a regular bus route from Looe via Polperro to Polruan. Polruan is a charming village across the river from Fowey and a ferry will take you across the Fowey estuary to visit this lovely harbour town.

The fantastic Eden project along with the Lost Gardens of Heligan are less than an hour away. Rugged Dartmoor is a 45 minute drive & there are ample golf clubs in the area (St Mellion, Looe Down, Saltash, Portwrinkle, and Doublebois).

Plymouth is a 30 minute drive away and offers the National Marine Aquarium, the Theatre Royal, Plymouth Dome & great shopping plus all the night life you would expect from a big city.

Families: Looe Monkey Sanctuary is a great favourite with children housing many rescued woolly monkeys in a wonderful wooded environment. 30 minutes by car is Kidz World - a fantastic indoor adventure zone for children from toddlers up because it rains in Cornwall too! There is an great donkey sanctuary with indoor / outdoor play at Gunnislake - a 25 minute drive away.

There are two arcades in Looe that offer traditional children’s rides & 2p slots for that traditional British seaside holiday feel if that is your preference.

Crab fishing is a brilliant pass-time for kids & parents alike. In the summer half an hour can easily fill a bucket with crabs & the quay is often lined with very competitive parents!

Many of the restaurants in Looe offer an early sitting (5:30 to 6:00pm) which enables families with younger children to dine out without the need for a babysitter.

(We can provide contact details for a local babysitter if required)

Sports: Fishermen amongst you will not be disappointed. Charters leave Looe (weather depending) & account for shark in the summer, pollock, conger & bass. This area of coast is rich with reefs & the shore fishing for bass especially on surface lures can be spectacular. For families, regular mackerel fishing trips leave the quay with all tackle provided.

Looe has a diving school (Looe Divers) offering guided dives on local reefs & wrecks popular because of the fantastic water clarity & warmth. Surfing & canoeing are very popular in & around Looe and there is a great surf beach at Portwrinkle (20 minutes by car).

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a marvelous time and felt very much at home in Dreamporth. Lovely cottage, nicely decorated and very well kept. Glad to have stayed in West Looe as East Looe was rather busy. I absolutely loved your limpet towers and we busily kept collecting those "chinese hats" to take a little bit of the seaside atmosphere and a lovely memory of your cottage home

A travel cot is available at the cottage suitable up to age 2. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot - we find most people want to use their own bedding for their little ones. A high chair is provided at the cottage along with a step to enable access to sinks and Loo's for toddlers. There is also a good quality moveable stairgate available to ensure your childrens security. For children out of cots there is bed guard fitted to one of the single beds. The cottage is very family friendly (we use it regularly ourselves with our 7 year old son & 5 year old daughter). It is set out on 3 levels with the master and en-suite at the top of the house. Families (two adults and children) can easily utilize levels 1 and 2 for ease as there is ample space and the stairs are not overly steep, unlike many properties locally. The living area is also spacious. All facilities in the cottage are modern - fridge/freezer, washing machine / tumbledryer, microwave, beds, bedding and all fittings.

Would recommend excellent clean cosy cottage

  • 4 of 5

Cottage was lovely! Three great size bedrooms and two large bathrooms. Bed linen was nice and everywhere was clean. Very well equipped kitchen with small area for dining. Cosy well equipped lounge. Stairs were narrow and steep which may be difficult for the elderly. Super location and all the locals very friendly! Great shop opposite too.

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the cottage last week with with my two children and Mum. The cottage is really lovely and very well presented with lots of things useful for children.

It is in West Looe which is much quieter and we were very glad about this as East was very busy in the evenings. It was however a few minutes walk to the ferry to cross to the other side - which was really fun for the kids.

We would definately recommend this for families to stay in and we hope to return in coming years for a holiday.

Looe beach - safe / sandy, Hanafore for dog walks

Looe is an unspoilt, picturesque fishing village dating back to the 12 century.Looe is situated on the SE coast of Cornwall 15 miles west of Plymouth with East & West divided by the harbour. It's blessed with quaint old buildings, smugglers taverns & some of Cornwalls finest restaurants.Looe is mild off season & fantastic for spring/autumn breaks or for its famous New Year fancy dress street party & fireworks.Looe is a thriving fishing port providing quality raw materials for the restaurants.Because it is a working community you can be sure that the facilities you require are open all year round. It's gently shelving sandy beach is very child friendly and there are rock pools galore to keep even the most inquisitive children occupied.Looe river and the surrounding coastline is excellent for sport fishing for bass or summer charters can be arranged as Looe is the shark fishing capital of Great Britain. The more energetic can make use of the 'South West Coast Path' which runs through Looe.
