This original service quarters is located steps to historic Magazine street where you can enjoy a multitude of restaurants, clothing stores, local jewelry shops, coffee shops and more. The apartment is clean and comfortable. There is a sleeper sofa in the living room and a washer/dryer next to the kitchen downstairs. The antique furniture and exposed brick in the upstairs bedroom give the apartment that old New Orleans charm.
We really enjoyed our stay on Magazine Street. The apartment is small and very old, but has a wonderful historic feel in a great neighborhood. It was clean and had everything we needed (except a toaster.) Be sure to check if there are any festivities going on on the street before you arrive! We got there in the midst of a St. Patrick’s Day parade, so couldn’t drop off our belongings until later in the evening. The parade was a fun surprise, though! The steps up to the bathroom and bedroom are a little steep but manageable. The extra beverages and snacks were a nice bonus after a long drive. Having a washer and dryer was especially handy. A short walk to the streetcar made getting downtown very easy. Being on the edge of the garden district allowed for lovely places to walk. We would definitely stay there again.
Quaint, affordable space in a great location. Walking distance to the cable car, even closer to the bus system that is easy to use. Kitchen and washer and dryer were really nice to have. Area felt safe with shopping and small food venues very close. Owner was helpful. The bed is a little small, but comfortable. Book of instructions and labeling of light switches very helpful.
This property was so cute and the perfect spot for Mardi Gras! Everything you need is within walking distance.
My husband and I chose this place to stay during our trip to New Orleans based on its proximity to restaurants, etc., and its value. There are so many places walking distance to this on Magazine Street! Loved District Donuts (almost next door) and the Rum House! It was a quick Uber ride to Bourbon/Frenchmen Street. Not only was this a convenient location, but it was comfortable and private. Fay was a great host and left us refreshments upon our arrival. Communication was a breeze! The bed was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Would stay again. Definitely recommend this listing and this host!
I can't say enough about what a wonderful stay we had at Fay's place. It's a beautiful location - right on Magazine Street, near tons of restaurants, bars, and shops. The apartment itself is cozy, clean, well-furnished, and spacious. But the best part was our host; Fay treated us like family and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended!!
I'm pretty picky about giving out a full 5 star review, but good service and communication always gets major points for me! We lost power during our stay and the owner was kind enough to go out of our way and give us a heads up and also give us suggestions on what we can do to help make the place more comfortable in the warm weather should we be out of power for a while. Fortunately it came back on in a few hours but I very much appreciated the heads up--you don't often have owners of these rentals who are so proactive.
The overall accommodations were nice. It's a very old building (it is Magazine St after all), but there has been some updating throughout the unit so don't let that deter you. The furniture was comfortable, the unit was very spacious for two. Be aware that the bed is full size and not queen. Normally that's not something I would notice but I did this time since I'm pregnant! Fortunately it's a nice firm, comfortable mattress so we quickly discovered it wasn't an issue. Everything was clean and in working condition. Would love to use this rental again in the future!
