We've stayed at The Sea Ranch for a number of years and finally bought a property of our own that we are sharing with our guests. We love to hike the trails and enjoy the peaceful setting. It's been our favorite get away spot to escape the summer heat, the hectic work week, or just to take in nature and rejuvenate the mind and body.
Charlie purchased this House in 2016
Why Charlie chose Sea Ranch
When we found this home we were immediately struck by the laid back charm of the home and its wonderfully scenic setting.
What makes this House unique
Pacific View has excellent access to Sea Ranch amenities. The Del Mar Recreation center (open year round) is nearby and has a large pool and tennis courts. There are two nice beaches that are within a 15 minute walk via trails. Nearby trail access leads to ocean-side trails, and hill-side trails via an underpass shared with the golf cart path. Shops and stores in Gualala are only minutes away.

Amazing view, hot tub and super clean
This is probably the cleanest home we have ever stayed in. It was warm, quiet, amazing views out over the grass to the water. Jackrabbits, deer, birds. Hottub was perfect for watching the waves and wind and stars. It was spacious, uncluttered and very comfortable for having children. Kitchen perfectly stocked. We used the king bedroom and twin bedroom beside, didn't book the other king room so it was locked. I really liked the option to pay for just the rooms we used. The pool at the community centre was gorgeous, and lots of hiking right from the house so we didn't have to go in the car once we arrived, having brought all our groceries with us.
Nice place but charged extra cleaning fee
Beautiful house and location. Unfortunately we were charged for extra cleaning. I have stayed in 25+ rental houses including some in Sea Ranch and have never been treated like this. I have always received the full deposit amount and positive responses. Charlie the owner was rude and chose to believe the cleaner's report, which made it sound like we trashed the place, instead of talking to us. We left the rental clean and followed all of the checkout instructions. If you want a deep clean of the entire house before the cleaners (who we pay for) arrive, please make that more clear.
After this party of 2 adults and 1 child departed I received a text message from my housekeeper saying the home was very dirty (food, sand, spills, stains, etc.). She later followed up with a multi-page written report describing this in detail. Even though there were only 3 guests, cleaning took about 2x as long to make the home ready for the next party. As described in the rental agreement, excessive cleaning will result in extra charges. When I forwarded the report to Zarin that explained why the extra charges were levied he became upset and defensive and claimed the housekeeper was "lying". Since she has a 30-year track record in the area and a very good reputation I tend to believe her. I make it a point to present a home that is in good condition and as clean as possible for every guest. In fact the review from the Theresa C. guest party that followed Zarin K begins with "This is probably the cleanest home we have ever stayed in". It's a testament to the high standards of my housekeeper. I invite you to read the reviews and judge for yourself.
Great house, great views
Comfortable house with great views, a nicely stocked kitchen, great open floor plan, and plenty of room for the wacky game of charades that we were somehow inspired to play. The hot tub over looks the ocean. The owner is responsive and friendly. Enjoy!
House was beautiful and the view was spectacular. Walking trails were in close proximity...and we saw tons of whales 🐳! Can't wait to go back!
Still loving it
This was our second stay at this property and it was just as great as the last. The views from the property are fantastic. It is just a short walk to the shoreline (although a little bit further if you want to go down to the actual beach).
The layout of the home is open an airy with plenty of seating for everyone. There are books to read, puzzles and games.
Heed the warnings about the rooms though because rooms are locked off it not booked. I would also recommend bringing extra towels and wash cloths as well as paper towels. Other than that the kitchen is well stocked with a variety of spices and cooking instruments. If you bring all the ingredients they even have what you need to bake cookies for the little ones. have a mixer, measuring cups, etc. and you can bake your heart out.
The weather was fantastic. We learned on this trip that the Sea Ranch area is part of what is known as "the banana belt" because of the way it is situated, with points to the north and south, they tend to miss out on most of the fog. This means that nearly everyday is a beautiful sunny day.
On this trip we went down to the pool too. They not only have swim lanes but they also have noodles and other play toys for the kids. It is heated all year round.
Don't forget to go up to the Point Arena lighthouse. Leave time for the tour and for taking a walk along the coast. You will not regret it. Also, if you have the time, do pack up a picnic and head over to Russian Gulch State Park for a nice long walk to a beautiful waterfall. Bring plenty of water for the hike!
Another fantastic stay. We will definitely be back.
With grandiose plans to explore the area and take in a few wineries, instead we just hung out in and around this fantastic place to have one of the most relaxing weekends in a looooonnnnng time. Just to have time to sit in the living room and watch the wildlife venture past the windows with the coast and spouting whales in the distance was amazing. The inviting hot tub, well-stocked kitchen, and roaring fireplace made for a fantastic atmosphere where our team could hang out in comfort. We did hike the trails in and around Sea Ranch each day- but there was no need to venture out to Gualala or Annapolis as we brought our stock and settled in! The weather was a mix of sun and rain and rainbows and clouds/fog. It was just perfect for everyone's tastes!
The home is situated within the Sea Ranch, a community located along the Pacific Coast, about 100 mi (160 km) north of San Francisco and 120 mi (190 km) west of Sacramento. The Sea Ranch is a unique community association of private homes, sited with careful attention to the natural landscape along a 10-mile stretch of the Sonoma County coast in Northern California. It is internationally known for its distinctive architecture, the sensitivity of its land planning, and community-based stewardship of the natural environment. The Sea Ranch Association maintains a network of hiking trails along the ocean bluff, across seaside meadows, through fern forests and in wooded hillsides. They also maintain several recreation centers with pools and tennis courts.
About 2.5 mi north of Sea Ranch on route 1 lies Gualala, a small town with shopping, grocery stores, and galleries. Together The Sea Ranch and Gualala are a great vacation that makes for the perfect leisurely getaway.
