Please read all information before booking. Built in 2015, our home boasts spectacular views of Mt. Lassen, City of Redding & valley. 3rd floor is a impressive master bedroom suite complete with hot tub. 2nd floor spacious living area with queen bedroom, office, 1st floor large garage. Extensive tile throughout home, modern features with stainless steel kitchen, granite counters, Leather sofa, king sized bed. Complete kitchen with pots & Pans, plenty of dishes, glassware, silverware -- We use our house most weekends so it is fully stocked. 2000 square foot house on 1.8 acres backing to BLM land, with sweeping views to the East and South over the Northern central valley, Southern Cascades (Mt. Lassen, Mt. Burney) and Redding city lights at night. Enjoy Sunrise and Sunset views from all rooms and levels. Extensive use of tile and aluminum accents, modern decor, 2 fireplaces and modern kitchen. 1 large King bedroom suite, office with Wifi, 2 full baths. The entire 3rd floor is a master suite with large walk in shower, walk in closet, 2 person hot tub on 3rd floor deck, fireplace, flat screen TV, Washer/Dryer, double sinks and super comfortable king size bed. please note there is no cable TV. There are 3 flat screen "smart" TV's with Netflix, Hulu and internet -- but no cable. TV programs are limited. No handicap access - there are 2 flights of stairs. NO PETS and NO SMOKING, NO RV's or TRAILERS. Boats OK. NO car washing.

Guest Access

The whole house will be available for your use, with the exception of the 2nd floor queen guest bedroom which will be locked (available for use with additional fees). The kitchen is fully stocked including basic stuff for cooking like spices, oils etc. We use the house most weekends so it is fully stocked with everything you need including soaps, laundry supplies, kitchen supplies, spices, tools etc.

The Neighborhood

Quiet neighborhood on almost 2 acres, backing to BLM Land. One mile to popular mountain bike trail head to access the East Side mountain bike trail system. These trails honeycomb the hills surrounding the Sacramento River. Very private yet open and bright. House is 5 miles from Bethel Church, about a 10-12 minute easy drive. We are also 7 miles from Shasta Dam & Boat launching in Shasta Lake. Access the Sacramento River trail at the Keswick Dam is about 4 miles from the house. House has 24 hour video surveillance for security, extra parking for boat if needed.

Getting Around

You will need a car - taxi service is available. Nearest grocery store is about 2 miles away, pretty decent corner market with gas station 1/2 mile from house.

Other Things to Note

We use the house as a 2nd home, so it contains a lot of our personal stuff such as clothes, pantry/food, soap, laundry supplies, office supplies etc. please be respectful of our things and replace anything you might deplete, thanks.

My husband and I love the outdoors, we ride our bicycles about 5 or 6 days a week, do some backpacking and hiking, Kayaking & paddle boarding, also love to ski - downhill, skate skiing or back country. Mike is a school teacher and I work from home as a mortgage broker in California and Oregon. We live full time in Mount Shasta (far Northern California) and own 2nd homes in Redding, CA; Bend Oregon; and South Lake Tahoe. We love to travel (obviously) and are always up for a new adventure.

Why Michelle Young Read chose Shasta Cascade

We purchased this land after the original developer went bankrupt. We designed and built our home as a 2nd home for us to spend our weekend time in during winter. We are avid cyclists and the weather in Mt. Shasta is not friendly to cyclists in the winter. We rarely use this home in the summer, so we thought we might offer it to others to enjoy.

What makes this house unique

The home sits on 1.8 acres and backs to BLM land. It has amazing views to the East, south and West -- views of the central valley, Mt. Lassen & Mt. Burney (southern Cascades). It's 12 minutes to Bethel Church, 10 minutes to Shasta Dam, and 15 minutes from downtown Redding. There is a private hot tub on the 3rd floor deck with spectacular views. Fireplace in Master Bedroom and Living room, office with wi-fi printer, 24 hour video security, extra parking for boat (NO RV's or Trailers).

Be sure to visit the SunDial Bridge, and the Shasta Dam - and take the free tour! Water sports at Shasta Lake (7 miles away) and WhiskeyTown lake (appx 20 miles). Sacramento River trail offers hiking, walking, running, cycling - lots of great mountain biking trails in Redding area (200+ miles). hike & mountain climbing at Mt. Lassen & Mt. Shasta both 1 hour drive, fly fishing on Sacramento River, and much much more.

For directions to the house: 2948 Crow View Lane – Directions

From Interstate 5, take the Oasis Road exit then head West to Lake Blvd (dead end). Turn right onto Lake Blvd, then take your 1st left onto Quartz Hill Road. This is not a major intersection, there is a stoplight at the Buckeye Elementary school and you’ll go through that light, then turn left onto Quartz Hill Road, it’s maybe 1/8 of a mile, a very short distance.

You’ll go about 1/4 mile on Quartz Hill and take the first right onto Herbscenta Lane, which dead ends a short ways up at Crown View Lane. Turn left onto Crown View Lane and go a short distance to the Cul De Sac. (You will see the house way up on the hillside on the right). Turn Right in the cul de sac up to driveway, it’s the last driveway on the right.

The perfect romantic getaway for two!

We had such an amazing time visiting Redding and this house was the reason! Everything was in perfect condition, very clean and completely updated. The hot tub, the amazing views, the beautiful master suite, the softest towels ever. The list could go on and on, it was exactly what we were looking for! I don't think we turned on the TV once. The location was very private and secluded yet easy to find and a quick and close drive to anything we needed. Michelle was very responsive and helpful throughout the entire booking process. She accommodated us without a hitch even considering our request to book was less than two days prior to our trip. We will definitely be back and cannot wait to book our next stay at this beautiful home! We're even thinking of making this a yearly trip!

Great place for a couple

My husband and I enjoyed our 10 year anniversary at the Reed Tower and loved every minute of it. Its the perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenery, plus its very romantic. Its a quick drive to action, or a great place to just chill. It was way to hot when we were there (110 degrees) to be hiking and biking, but we would love to come back when it is cooler.
