About Sue McCormick

Bob and Sue McCormick and kids, Connor and Maddie live in Alpharetta, Georgia and built this home in 2006. Being from large families and remembering the annual family vacations, we wanted to have a home that we could share with others that would gather together to vacation at the beach and hopefully return each year!

Sue McCormick purchased this house in 2006

Why Sue McCormick chose Beaches of South Walton

We hope to someday retire at the beach!

What makes this house unique

We love to rent pontoon boats and go to crab island. Love the outlet malls, bike riding along 30A, Grayton Beach, Seaside shopping and restaurants and love to go to Baytowne Wharf at night! We love exploring the fabulous restaurants along 30A and love taking long walks in beautiful Tops'l State Park behind our home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

So glad we found this Beach rental. Did not know the area at all! We love your home! Great for family & kids. Nice renovation too!

Absolutely no beach access......not a family friendly/rental environment.

  • 1 of 5

It's too bad that a few home owners police the area because they have nothing better to do. Actually had a homeowner stop me and tell me how much he had paid for his home???Also, told me he owned the entire pool and workout area. What??? He Wanted me to have a cheap (outdated) rubber band on my wrist during visits to the pool and small gym. You know the bands that were cool 15 years ago when L. Armstrong was "living strong". I would understand if I didn't have to punch in a numeric code to acces their precious pool and then another code to enter their small gym (door to pool is kept open 90% of the time). I would spend my efforts getting the door to lock vs having a young man looking for rubber bands. The same homeowner explained to me that it was to keep the drunk teenagers out??? How in the heck does a band on my wrist do that???? Also, I have a teenager and he would not want to break in to your pool and workout room. I'm telling you now, someone needs to educate these people.

Again, totally understand if you had beach access. However you don't have it. Also, don't rent the golf cart. You can't take it anywhere! Total bust!!! Has potential but other homeowners made my family's visit not so good. Might be good if you are past retirement but not for family fun. Again, the property my family and I rented was great. Is the community that's the problem. Thanks, father of 5

Owner's Response: Anthony, I am so sorry that you had experiences in our neighborhood that made you feel unwelcome. The neighborhood has had trouble in the past with guests in the pool area that were not staying in the neighborhood which is why they ask that all of our tenants wear a wrist band while using the amenities. We do talk about the nearby beach access in our listing details but perhaps you missed it. It sounds like you had no problems with our home in particular but I'm sorry that your family did not like the neighborhood. Bob and Sue

Great location for a family

  • 4 of 5

We truly enjoyed this house. The gated community it is in was great as well. Our kids could play outside and no worry of traffic. The sound system in the house was Great, as we set in the screened in porch and relaxed after a long day at the beach. The beds where very comfortable. We highly recommend this property.

Lovely place..

  • 5 of 5

A ton of great things to say about this amazing home. The owners put a lot of time and attention into making it have that "at home feel". Wonderful location on 30A. Pool was beyond extraordinary and the quiet nature of the property gets you away from it all. Would definitely stay there again.

Location! Location! Location!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, this was the first time we tried or, or whatever they call themselves.

What a fantastic idea and great execution. The problem has always been connecting those that want to rent a place for a week with owners and have something in the middle that makes both parties feel protected. Problem solved, well done.

We live north of Atlanta and have been here for about 3 years. This year, we chose the 30A area for our Spring Break destination. Little did we know that most of GA seems to like that area as well during the same week.

When we told my 15 year old daughter where we were going, she was mortified..."I'm going to see everyone on spring break too?!?!?!", and "all of Forsyth County goes there dad!!!

I thought I had made a huge mistake...the stressors I was trying to remove myself from, may be following me...

We soon learned that Santa Rosa Beach may just be the best kept secret on 30A. While Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Sea Grove Beach is absolutely overrun with screaming, bike riding, Jeep driving, teenagers attempting to impress each other (was in that area 15 years ago and drove through during this time to compare the landscape, it was a mess), Santa Rosa Beach is quiet, and right in the middle between Destin and the hustle and bustle of Seaside. You can easily get into something entertaining or be to yourselves as a family without interruption.

The gated community that contains Sea Salt is called Cypress Dunes. It is a growing neighborhood with several lots that have yet to be started. Sea Salt currently sits alone on one side of the street. As we rolled up to the house, we were delighted that we wouldn't have neighbors in our business, nor construction during our time at Sea Salt.

As we approached, we saw a beautiful 3 story house with the covered golf cart outside. The house is very nice and well mainatained. The interior design is top shelf. Talking to one of the owners after arrival, I joked that I wasn't very happy...she asked why and I told her that my wife is going to make me buy a house full of stuff upon our return to GA. Haha.

The house was a perfect fit, was clean and safe, the pool and amenities are top notch, the walking path is awesome, and the location was exactly what we were looking for, communication with the owners was perfect...we recommend this property and will be looking forward to calling Bob and Sue again next year.

What a great experience! Thank you!

Terrific home, location and neighborhood!

Sue/Bob - just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed your beach home. What a great place to be for an extended period like we had. The home has all the comforts, modern, great interior design. And the clubhouse - awesome. Pool was nice and warm! Cypress Dunes is a very nice community with lots of walking and bike riding around cypress stands, and location to access highlights of 30A, Topsail Reserve and Destin is ideal. I will recommend Sea Salt to clients and friends if they are looking for this sort of accommodation. Perfect for 2 families with kids or 2 couples. Thanks and we would not hesitate to return again in future!
