Beautifully restored home but some functional problems
We rented this home for family coming for the holidays. This home seemed perfect because we have a large family and it would be difficult to have everyone stay with us. Unfortunately aside from sleeping everyone had to stay and spend time at our home because the downstairs heat did not work. The owner was aware of the problem and provided two space heaters which helped some but it was still too cold to spend much time downstairs and the downstairs bathroom was so cold nobody could use it. Also we tried to make dinner one night and we were unable to get the oven to work because it was very finicky and the instructions provided were for a different model. Unfortunately this stay did not live up to the expectations for the price we paid. The owner was available and responsive to texts, but we had hoped to be offered some discount, unfortunately we were not. If everything had been functioning well we would probably have given 5 stars.
It is very unfortunate that the heater did not work. We tried our best to resolve this issue but due to the holiday seasons, the service provider could not go there on time. We appreciate that the guests shared their comments frankly so we can get better. We just offered the guest a 10% discount for the inconvenience. As for the oven, in the future, we will show guests how to turn in on in addition to the printed manual that we leave on the kitchen counter.
Great historical home with modern upgrades
Our extended family was impressed with your rental. Nice large yard, kitchen upgraded, dishwasher, large farm sink, laundry room and stocked pantry, paper goods and soap, shampoo, and conditioner. We would rent this home again.
We enjoyed our stay. Remodeled classic home.
The house was very nice. It is a historic house that has been nicely remodeled in a way that still shows off the classic charm. I don't know of a good way to define neighborhoods, but I'd say this house is in an overlapping area. That is you are in a good spot, but you are really close to some not so good spots, and really close to some really nice spots. IT's close to the school, close to downtown, close to historic neighborhoods and close to more modern neighborhoods. There are several places you can easily walk to for food/drinks/groceries.
The good- The house was comfortable. All rooms are upstairs and there were 2 rooms with 2 beds (i think the ad says just one). The other rooms had a queen and a king. Nice large back yard, lots of patio space, nice kitchen with gas range, and overall there is plenty of room.
Not as good- The house is a historic house, and is not well sound insulated. It is on a pretty major street by the school, and the house lets you hear everything going on outside and inside. We slept with the AC fan on to help with some white noise. The house has a great back yard and patio, but not much outdoor seating, and no grill. We donated a basic grill and hope it is still there for the next guests.
We loved our stay. We were attending a wedding for our niece and decided to have our family of adult children and spouses stay in the same location. Everyone had a bed. The property is lovely. In the evenings we would sit on the back porch and visit.
There is plenty of parking and it's location is close to everything.
The house is clean and the water pressure in the showers is wonderful.
The master bed does not have a box spring, so it takes a little getting used to, but overall the house is so lovely and so comfortable that I rated this 5 stars.
Thanks for your kind comments. We have corrected the box spring issue per your comments. We also replaced one queen-size bed with 2 twin size beds in one of the bed room.
Love to host your family again if you come to visit Riverside again
My synchronized swim team was in Riverside and we got lucky enough to find this home and the wonderful sisters that own it! The house was perfect for our team and we had everything that we needed. The owners made sure that we didn't need anything and were quick to take care of any problems that we had. Thanks for everything! We loved it!!
Clean and well kept
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this beautifully remodeled historic home. Our absolute favorite spot was the kitchen. The backyard was fenced and the landscaping was great. Our kids loved it!! Easy parking on the street and at the back of the house which easily connected to the back door. Even though the neighborhood felt safe, the house has an alarm system. We connected with the owners via text messages and phone calls - which worked perfectly. There were plenty of clean towels and linens. We enjoy having a laundry room with detergent. Our overall stay felt like home - we are glad we booked this house.
