A place for a family farm experience, couples retreat, girl's pamper weekend...
About Nerida Schmidt
When I was a little girl I used to go to this spot on our farm that looked over the Chittering Valley and I used to think it was the Edge of the World, because it was the edge of mine - the name stuck and it has become known that in our family ever since. I used to say that when I grew up I wanted to build a house and live on the Edge of the World with my family and sure enough after getting married on the spot 18 years ago, our beautiful weekender was finished in 2008. Since then I have watched my two beautiful boys enjoy and explore the bush with our extended family and friends as I did as a kid and I look forward to many generations to come who will do the same.
Nerida Schmidt purchased this House in 2008
Why Nerida Schmidt chose Chittering
My Dad was born here and he and my beautiful Mum raised myself and my 3 siblings on the farm. They are still here, as are the four of us kids, now each with our own families and our own houses on the property. We run it as one working farm with sheep and llamas grazing and more than half of it is still virgin bush with native wildlife - kangaroos, rabbits, echidnas, the odd emu and a huge variety of birds. There is something about sitting on the deck and listening to the serenity and the sounds of the Australian bush here. There is an energy that this place has that we have all felt and have come to call "Edge Therapy". You and your family and friends can feel it too and I guarantee you will go away having been recharged and with a sense of peace after your mini-break, and all less than an hour from Perth CBD.
What makes this House unique
The Edge of the World Family Retreat has been designed to bring the family together and reconnect with nature and each other. On a wintery day you can sit in front of the double sided log fire and watch a movie or simply enjoy a glass of wine on the chaise lounges and take in the spectacular vista of the Chittering Valley while the kids play a board game. When the sun comes out enjoy your lunch or relax on the lounges on the deck, take a walk through the bush or toast marshmallows around the firepit. If you feel like venturing out into the valley there are restaurants, wineries, bakeries, orchards, and attractions a short drive away.

Lovely country retreat
Was very easy to book and communicate with the owner. The experience was 5 star from the accomodation to the service.
Thanks Inge. We look forward to hosting you again soon!
Relax and enjoy the view
This place is the perfect location to spend a ladies retreat in winter - beautiful fireplace, small conversation corners and space to move! It’s hard to do anything else but watch the colours change over the valley below! Thank you! Thoroughly recommend it to all!
Michelle - it was lovely to have you return with your friends again this year. So glad you enjoyed the view and the peace of the beautiful Chittering Valley.
The Edge is a lovely house on a beautiful property. We absolutely love staying and will be back for sure.
Awesome property and beautiful location
Spent a very relaxing couple of days at this property. Everything you need is provided, the log fire is a great way to end the day and the views are stunning. There are plenty of birds and kangaroos around to make you feel like you are really out the city.
Thanks Phillip. Come again sometime.
Edge of Hill
Beautiful spot and great walks.
Thanks so much James - glad you enjoyed your stay.
Beautiful House and Surroundings
Beautiful house with no issues - fire place inside and fit pit outside were lovely to sit around. A well stocked house with no shortage of blankets during chilly times.
Situated in the beautiful Chittering Valley with spectacular views over the rolling hills and vineyards.
We have a new driveway at 2150 Chittering Road - more direct and straight down the fenceline.
