About Jacque Proulx

We live in South Lake Tahoe, CA. We fell in love at first sight with our condo after seeing many others in the area.

Jacque Proulx purchased this condo in 2006

Why Jacque Proulx chose Keauhou

When we walked in and saw the incredible views and the two story cathedral ceilings. The corner location offered complete privacy and astounding views. The tradewinds made it comfortable and fresh. Right at that moment we saw a pod of dolphins and knew it was meant to be.

What makes this condo unique

We enjoy the privacy of not being able to see any one of our neighbors from the lanai. Because of the unique location of our unit, it has arguably one of the best lanai positions in the area. Kahaluu Beach is only a 10 minute walk north, and Keauhou Bay is a 10 minute walk south.

There are three important Hawaiian Heiaus on the KKSRC property, and just next door is a restored Religious Heiau which has been compared to the Vatican in terms or Hawaiian importance.

Guestbook comments from the owner

For us, this was a perfect get-a-way. The condo was more than adequate for the two of us. The view from the lanai was sensational as was closeness to the ocean. My only wish would have been having a pair of binoculars to view the ocean activity. The unit is clean and adequately furnished. Will we return to the same condo? Possibly--I'm 85 years old, and hauling luggage and groceries up three flights of stairs about did me in. Would we recommend this unit to friends? In a heart beat.Tom, the manager on call was great!

Great location, nice unit 4.5 stars ;)

  • 4 of 5

Overall, this unit is quite nice, and the welcome basket we found on the counter when we arrived was a pleasant added touch.

Being on the top floor, you reap the benefits of quiet and peaceful unit. No footsteps above, vaulted ceilings. We stayed during Spring Break (beginning of April), and the weather was a bit off. Not the fault of the unit of course! However, because the lanai faces West and North, the breeze does get cut off a bit, so the unit doesn't benefit from a full cross breeze. I'm sure at other times of the year, this might not be a problem or even a desire.

The amenities are reasonable. The appliances are a bit dated, but functional. The cabinets suffer from ghosts : ) They would open on their own, and once I nearly slammed my head.

There are a number of counter top appliances too, which was really great, although a toaster oven would be nice. Heating the full oven for some cheese sticks can add unwanted heat to the unit.

Plenty of towels, snorkel gear, tennis racquets and balls. But no beach chairs :(

The overall location of the unit; in the Surf and racquet club is unmatched if you prefer to avoid the downtown noises of Kona. (We do). Proximity to a wonderful beach is a walk down the road. It does tend to get a bit crowded by the shore, so do yourself a favor and swim out closer to the reef! Its all very shallow, and the best coral is far from shore.

Overall, I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a great, private, condo with outstanding views; no too far from the activities of down town Kona, but far enough where you can simply lay back with a Mai Tai and enjoy the sounds of the ocean beating against the black lava that is the Big Island.

Perfect location, unbeatable view

  • 4 of 5

The location is perfect in between the number 2 and number 3 best snorkeling beaches on the Big Island. The view from the lanai and the sound of the waves were amazing. We liked the condo layout and available beach gear, well stocked kitchen. Access to the shopping center a minute away was also convenient. Walking every morning was wonderful. The grounds of the complex are beautifully well maintained. Also appreciated having the washer and dryer in the bathroom so we could dry towels after bathing.

It was very humid and there is no A/C. Usually the fans and the breeze worked, but not always, to alleviate the humidity. The beds and rooms for two couples were fine, especially having two full baths. But our adult son couldn't sleep on the air mattress as it deflated so he was on the sofa which is not a bed.

If there were half stars I would go for 4.5 stars out of 5!

Outstanding condo in an outstanding location!

  • 5 of 5

The condo and location were exactly what we imagined. Close to snorkeling (Ka'huluu) and waves (Magic Sands). Walking distance to Keauhou Shopping Center for groceries, farmer's market Saturday mornings, coffee, and restaurants. An easy drive to Kailua-Kona but away from the tourist crowd for some serious relaxation. Sitting on the lanai right above the ocean waves is everything other reviewers have expressed. Absolutely beautiful and private. The beach and tennis gear in the unit were also very cool.

Loved Every Minute

  • 5 of 5

This condo is exactly as pictured and the owner is a joy to work with. There was nothing better than sleeping with the doors open and waking to the crashing waves just outside the balcony. The view from the lanai is absolutely breathtaking; I promise you won't want to leave to explore the island.

The condo is on the third floor and while there may have been an elevator, we didn't search for it. The only time I disliked the stairs where packing luggage and groceries up ... But that's my fault for brining so many clothes.

The kitchen is very well equipped with spices, cooking, and eating tools. There is even snorkeling gear we borrowed for the beach that was within walking distance. The neighbors were friendly and the condo was extremely private and quiet. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Treat yourself and reserve this place. You won't regret it!!

Very nice condo, great location, huge lanai with spectacular ocean views.

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the BBQ and Pool areas are situated very close to this unit, as are the tennis courts.

You can sit out on the lanai and have 240 deg view of the ocean. We enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner every day on the lanai.

We stayed for 10 days and enjoyed every second of it. The drive along the beach to Kona is wonderful, lots to see & do.

The property is very clean and well maintained. The unit itself is well stocked and could use a little updating.
