4 bed/2bath Chalet with mountain view 3 miles from downtown Gatlinburg!
About Terry Barnett
We live in a small place in Eastern KY. It doesn't even have a stop light. If you blink, you would miss our little township. We have 3 kids that are 21, 15, & 12. We are at the stage with our kids that sometimes it is trying, since they are trying to find their own personality, and to find their voice and become apart of a productive society, while growing into adulthood. We also have 3 fur babies. Tilly is our sweet little pug girl. Sketch is our Westie, while Khloe, our Scottie, is our newest addition. I got her for my birthday in February 2016. They are all spoiled rotten. We also have a pot bellied pig name Wilbur. He was supposed to be a micro pot belly pig, not getting much over 30 lbs, but he now weighs almost 100lbs, and too is spoiled. We also have chickens & ducks, and baby chicks are born frequently. We are just normal country folk, but like yourself, we love The Great Smoky Mountains.
Terry Barnett purchased this Chalet in 2016
Why Terry Barnett chose Chalet Village
We purchased this property in July 2016. It was a private home. We have updated a lot of areas, to make it an overnight rental, with the kitchen and bathrooms being updated with new features. It is overly decorated, but this makes it feel cozy and more like our home away from home. The cabinets in the kitchen has been refurbished with wood that we retrieved from Terry's childhood home. We just purchased a new dining room table in December of 2016, to enhance and add to the rustic look. There are a lot of personal touches, which I am sure you won't find in other rentals. We bought this property because we are in Gatlinburg many times a year with our children and furbabies, and found ourselves spending so much money to stay there. Besides that, we couldn't bring our dogs. There aren't many places that are pet friendly (but we are!!). So we decided to just buy a property there. We chose this property for the location, but mainly for the view, and because we can bring our pets!! We love Mount LeConte, and could sit for hours on the deck and just be in awe of the view. We also love the fact that we can take in the Smoky Mountain fresh air, especially after a rain shower. This location is also centrally located with access to Gatlinburg just minutes away. Thankfully, we have survived the wildfires that struck The Great Smoky Mountains in November 2016. Our chalet was untouched. Much of the area around our chalet has been devastated by the destruction of many homes in Chalet Village being burnt to the ground. We count our blessings daily. We still have things to do to our Smoky Mountain home. We plan on a hot tub install sometime in 2017, as well as updates to the countertops, backsplash, and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, hopefully in 2017 as well. Hopefully we will have a set gas grill somewhere around our new hot tub install. We are excited to offer you Bearly Afraid, and hope you choose us to enjoy your visit to The Great Smoky Mountains.

Great Mountain Chalet
I would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay in a large home in the mountains. There are 4 bedrooms and a fold out sofa. Plenty of towels and linens were provided. The owners have put a lot of effort into decorating the themed bedrooms and the entire home. The wrap around patio was a favorite gathering spot in the mornings and evenings because the view is spectacular and there are plenty of rocking chairs provided for a large group. Communications with the owners and check-in process could not have been easier. I would definitely stay here again.
Cabin was not clean when we arrived. Called Mr. Terry and he got right on it. Just a misunderstanding with the dates. Overall was a great visit. Beautiful place, would like to stay there again. Just don't care for the drive up. I had to close my eyes, missed out on some of the sights.
Thank you again,
The Jenkins Family
Family fun in the smoky mountains!
We had such a great time and the cabin was wonderful, plenty of room for everyone (and we had 10 people) The sheets and towels were clean and there was plenty of extras as well as more than enough dishes and cups etc. The hot tub was great every night under the stars. We did have a few issues to start with (the downstairs bathroom door was broken and wouldnt close and we couldn't figure out how to get the TVs to work) but I called Terry and we were able to get everything working perfectly. The only thing I didnt like was that there was an awful lot of knick-knacks, making it hard to put our own stuff down so most of our stuff lived on the floor that would normally be put on a table or dresser...not a big deal at all but worth a mention. Also, there was a lot of cobwebs and spider webs outside on the porch but I figure thats more the housekeepers fault than the owners. The view more than made up for it though because it was spectacular and if you walk a little ways up the road and turn back again, you can see why they are indeed called the "smoky" mountains! All in all, we had a great time and will remember our first trip to the smoky mountains with great fondness thanks in part to this awesome cabin! We will definitely be back!
Everything was “just right”. We grilled out, hottubbed, and relaxed. Great launching point for hiking, fishing and everything that the area has to offer. This was the right place for the right time.
Great stay in the Smokys!
Had a great time staying at bearly afraid with my family this week! You can tell OC and Terry have done a great deal of work with all their decorations. The place is clean, beds were very comfy, and the view is spectacular! I definitely recommend the stay. The only thing that was difficult was playing pool. Not too much space in the loft for the pool sticks. We still had a blast though attempting to play. Would definitely love to stay here again!
Good times with good friends :)
The Cabin was great, everything we needed was available. Loved the hot tub and the pool table, although playing pool was somewhat challenging due to limited space around the table.
