About The Owner

I moved to Las Vegas, NV from North Carolina several years ago. It only took one summer of 110 degree temperatures for me to look for a cooler place to spend my weekends. After doing a few months of research, I found Duck Creek Village in southern Utah and had a cabin built in the Duck Creek Pines subdivision. While it's just a three hour hour drive from Las Vegas, it's a completely different part of the world in every way. To go from 110+ degrees to 72 degrees is like jumping into a mountain stream. To go from the desert surrounding Las Vegas in the winter and find 5-10 feet of snow at my cabin continues to amaze me.

A friend of mine told me about VRBO and the possibilities of renting my cabin to vacationers on the dates that I wasn't able to enjoy it myself. I decided to give it a try and it's been very successful. In addition to making a little money, I've really enjoyed sharing my little part of southern Utah with people from all over the world.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2006

Why The Owner chose Duck Creek Village

Another reason that I chose this area is the close proximity to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Skiing and of course the cool, clean air made this forest location the perfect get-a-way that is within driving distance of my home in Las Vegas. While visiting the cabin, I wake up each morning and enjoy hot cup of coffee on the wrap around deck that overlooks the forest then, I head out to find a new hiking or ATV trail and explore the natural beauty of the surrounding area.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is surrounded by the forest, yet, only a 5 minute drive to restaurants and other conveniences.

Wonderful Cabin, amazing stay!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is beautiful, surrounded by woods, very clean and has everything needed to have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. The onwer emailed us clear instruction on how to get to the cabin which was very helpful. We made meals at home most of the nights and after spending 10 days on the road, home cooked food felt amazing. All the kitchen was fully equpied, the place had everything we needed including fire place.

Wonderful Cabin With All The Comforts

  • 5 of 5

We were so pleased with this cabin. It was spacious, immaculately kept and well appointed. Our older kids appreciated each having their own room. Clear instructions were posted as far as accessing the TV, the WiFi, and what to do at checkout. It was well stocked with all the amenities we needed including pantry items we forgot to pack such as filters, powdered creamer and sugar for our coffee. The cabin is about an hour drive either way between Zion and Bryce, so it made a good "base camp" for us while we explored both parks. It was so nice to come "home" to a home cooked meal, hot showers and a comfortable bed after a day of hiking. The owner was super responsive to our questions and concerns and completely accommodating to our needs. Our security deposit arrived quickly after our stay.

Awesome Cabin Felt Like Home

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was in beautiful condition. It must have been recently remodeled. The carpet was brand new, and soft. The furniture was super comfortable. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the whole place was immaculate. It had all the pots, pans, plates, and utensils we needed. We didn’t have to worry about anything. It was a perfect place to make some great memories with our friends and family. It is located directly between Bryce and Zion so visiting each was equally accessible. The owner was responsive to my questions and very helpful during the planning process. If you are planning a trip to this area and need a place to enjoy, go here! This place was terrific! Thanks, Ricky, for giving us a beautiful stage to make some great memories. I hope you have other places around the country that I can stay at when my next vacation comes along.

Wonderful cozy cabin in the woods!

  • 5 of 5

My family and another family (7 of us altogether) stayed at Ricky's cabin for a few days over New Year's Eve and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin is clean, spacious, rustic in design, and has all the creature comforts including a dual-head shower next to the loft. There was plenty of snow on the ground and it even snowed all day one day! The cabin was warm and comfortable and super clean throughout. Ricky was extremely responsive to all of my questions. We rented snowmobiles at the Yamaha store in the village and rode those all over the place. There are also plenty of places to go sledding nearby. I highly recommend Ricky's cabin to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing getaway. Thanks Ricky! -Missy
