Manaharmony Big Island is a 3-acre property located in Kohala Estates on the beautiful Kohala coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, merely 4 miles north of Kawaihae harbor. The house has two wings - the main house and the in-law wing. Ohana Harmony is the in-law wing of the property. It is a custom-designed and built home which was completed in August 2016. The entire property has an expansive view of the ocean as well as the majestic Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai mountains. Spencer, Mauna Kea, Hapuna, and Waialea Bay beaches, as well as Puako Beach Drive are all within 5-8 miles of the property. The town of Waimea (Kamuela), Mauna Lani resort, and Waikoloa Beach Resort are 20 minutes away, providing ample choices of restaurants, grocery shopping, and resort lifestyle. Two scuba dive companies along with kayak and ocean tour operators operate their boats within a 10-20 minutes driving distance from the property. The area is considered to be the drier area of the island, receiving trade winds which keep the sky relatively clear from vog (volcanic fog). Star-gazing on the night skies free of light pollution, whale-watching through binoculars during the whale season, watching the moon rise over Mauna Kea, or being awe-inspired by the light of dawn coinciding with the moon set over the ocean are some of other magical experiences you can enjoy from the comfort and peace of the beautiful lanai of Ohana Harmony.

This is the listing of the in-law wing of the house - the Ohana Harmony unit at the ManaHarmony property. We take great care in the property design and house rules for peace and privacy of our guests. -One-bedroom suite with a spacious living area and a pocket door separating the bedroom area.

-Outdoor bistro table and chairs and a daybed on the lanai

-Kitchenette with a bar sink, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, refrigerator, dinnerware and drinkware for two persons.

-Weber BBQ with additional side burner below the lanai.

-Queen bed and closet

-En-suite bathroom with a soaking tub/shower

-Dedicated washer/dryer on the lanai

-No A/C. Ceiling fans in every room including bathrooms and lanais.

-Cable TV and internet access, smart TV which can be linked to a laptop (not provided) via HDMI cable/mini displayport/ HDMI adaptor

-Easy-carry scuba gear rinsing and drying area

-Outdoor shower with ocean view next to the ohana clothesline

-NO access to the pool unless booked together with Hale Mana.

-Share 1 parking space on the left side of driveway. Additional parking off the street along the cul-de-sac.

House Rules

Your reservation is not confirmed until the rental agreement is signed. By signing the rental agreement, you accept the rules and expectations specified in the agreement in its entirety. The followings are the highlights of the most important rules for your safety, peace, and comfort. Violation will result in the termination of rental agreement, immediate termination of occupancy, and the complete forfeit of the rental fees and/or security deposit.

-2 guests maximum.

-No pets allowed.

-Absolutely no-smoking/no-vaping anywhere indoors or out/around the property

-No access to the pool, unless booked together with Hale Mana

-No party or gathering of any kind without advanced approval from owner/manager

-We respect and honor our neighbors. No loud noises or loud music please.

-The Big Island is world-famous for stargazing and night skies. To reduce the light pollution on the island, please keep the use of outside lights to a minimum. Do not leave the outside light on overnight.

-Due to trade winds and occasional appearances of gusty rogue winds which gift us with more days of clear blue skies and relatively clear air from vog (volcanic fog) in North Kohala than other parts of the island,

1. please hang dry and pin your items only on designated clotheslines, not on furnitures, or lanai railings;

2. do not leave unattended belongings outside;

3. we do not provide wine glasses; and

4. do not stand against the winds. In wind gusts, stay low to the ground.

-By making the booking at the property, you acknowledge the fact that the property has two separate rental units. You have reviewed the photos and the floor plan showing the privacy perspective from both units and you accept the level of privacy or the lack thereof during your stay.

Safety Notice and Disclosure

Our desire is to provide our guests with the authentic experience of living Big Island which includes the reverence and preservation of this sacred land. We have tried to preserve the natural features of the land as much as possible in the design of the home. Equally, we care deeply about the safety of our guests, therefore we earnestly disclose safety notice for your serious considerations and we strongly urge you to make the best judgment about the suitability of the property for the safety of your party before making a reservation.

The ohana unit is built on a steep hillside of natural loose rocks and soil. Every lanai (covered deck and balcony) has cable railing built to code and a 5-15 feet drop onto loose rock steep slopes. The 10-feet drop stone wall is next to the BBQ and outdoor shower. The outdoor shower area is edged by steep slope with loose rocks. There is absolutely no space for children to run around

Based on the location of the building structure, the topography and natural terrain of the land, we respectfully declare that in our opinion the property is not a suitable space for guests under the age of 14. Minors of all ages must be supervised by adults at all time. The renters must take full responsibility for the safety of your party, especially minors, if you decide to book despite our disclosure of safety concerns for minors. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver as part of the rental agreement.

I fell in love with the Big Island in 2001 after having visited Kauai, Oahu, and Maui on a look-see trip searching for a home. After seeing the Kohala Coast of the Big Island, I have called it my home ever since. Before investing my heart and soul in the ManaHarmony house, I had remodeled one near-ocean house and built another oceanfront home on the Kohala Coast. My two children have grown up learning to swim in this ocean. Manaharmony is the latest manifestation of my love and appreciation for the island and my years of collective experiences making a home on this land in paradise. Wonderful family property! Outstanding views of 3 mountains and ocean. We had smaller 1 Bedroom and our daughter stayed in connecting 2 bedroom. All was beautifully maintained inside and out. We will definitely return!!!!

Best location on the island for a peaceful visit

Away from but accessible to the crowds of Kona, this lovely place is tucked in the hills about 20 min from Waimea. A perfect base for a peaceful and connected visit away from the hectic modern world.

A lovely Ohana with great ocean views

We watched this house being built when we visited the Big Island last. It was a delight to stay there this year. The unit was clean and well maintained. The deck seating and interior seating were very comfortable. We appreciated the Brita pitcher for filtered water. I only have two things I would change. First, I would like a reading lamp in the living room. After being out all day I like to relax in the evening with a good book. The lighting was not good for reading. The second thing was the bed mattress was really firm. I have a very firm mattress at home but my firm mattress has a memory foam pad on top that makes it really comfortable. Your mattress was hard. I never slept well. I didn't think there was a mattress too firm for me but this one was. Thank you for the chance to comment.

Wonderful place to stay. Appreciated having beach chairs, towels, and a cooler provided! Great place in a great location. What a view, especially the sunsets. If you want to enjoy the beaches in the area, this is the place to stay!

What a view!

This was a gem that surpassed our expectations. The construction is new and in great condition, the location is very accessible to Waikoloa and Hapuna Beach within a 10 minute drive, and also an easy drive to Waimea. Memories of our mornings on the porch with coffee, looking out at the beautiful and expansive view, bring a tear to my eye! Ma'ata was a wonderful communicator and made us feel like we were able to get in touch if we needed anything. Check the laundry room for beach chairs and boogie boards before you rent any and definitely visit the Aloha Diner nearby for great service and a tasty menu. We can't wait to come back!

Wonderful solitude and views in North Kohala.

This is a great place to hang out and to enjoy this part of the Big Island. We loved spending time on the porch and taking in the fabulous views. The place is clean and modern and communications were seamless. The stargazing from the property was amazing. The unit is next to a larger home but felt completely private. I would definitely stay here again.
