Red Fox Retreat is one of three, 400 square foot cabins on our property that back up to the Future Headwaters State Forest. This ensures that we have few neighbors and plenty of wildlife. This cabin has a small deck with two adirondack chairs perfect for relaxing beneath the trees and taking in plenty of fresh air. Inside you'll find a living room with high ceilings and lots of windows that look out into the forest. It has a comfy couch, TV and has Wifi. It's also furnished with a small dining table and chairs. The kitchen, although small, comes fully equipped to make a meal. It has a coffee maker, full sized appliances, dishes and some cookware. The bathroom has a good sized shower and plenty of fresh, white towels and hairdryer. Down the hall, you'll find stairs that lead up to the loft space that overlooks the living area. This second bedroom space has low ceilings and comes equipped with two twin beds. It's perfect for kids or agile adults. ***We do not make the twin beds up for parties fewer than 3 unless requested. Please let us know prior to your arrival if you want them made up.*** ***Loft not suitable for toddlers.*** Downstairs in the main bedroom, hidden behind curtains, you'll find a small washer and dryer which comes in handy if you have more activities planned than you have clothes for. The bed is queen sized and comes with a fresh quilt and sheets that are washed after every guest. We pride ourselves on our fresh, clean linens. The bed has drawers underneath for storage and the bedroom has a large closet as well. The bedroom also has a door with lock so that it can be closed off from the rest of the cabin for privacy. Outside you will find three separate fire pit areas perfect for star gazing or roasting marshmallows!

About Melissa Kilgore
We are Jason and Melissa Kilgore. We met one day back in 2001 and 92 days later, we were married. We are the best of friends and love doing things together, especially traveling and exploring this beautiful world of ours. A good cup of coffee in the morning, fresh air, the sounds of nature, playing outside and enjoying a glass of wine, at the end of the day, these things put smiles on our faces when we are home or traveling. We have traveled to Europe where we did what we call the big 3, Rome, Venice and Paris. We have also traveled to Belize twice, Costa Rica twice and Cozumel twice. We love to scuba dive and so these destinations were repeaters for us. We recently returned from a 6 week camping adventure to visit 12 national parks. We don't sit still when we travel which is probably why we don't call our adventures "vacations." We call them "expeditions." We usually carry a lot of camera gear and scuba gear with us. We love meeting people and making new friends when we travel and host. We believe life is short, there are no guarantees and you should enjoy as much of it as you can, while you can.
Melissa Kilgore purchased this Cabin in 2016
Why Melissa Kilgore chose Brevard
We LOVE this area! We love to hike and mountain bike and so it was perfect for us. We used to come here every weekend and now we are lucky enough to live here. Brevard is a town that provides everything we need without being too big. We chose to live away from town to be more in nature but town is only a 15-20 minute drive!
What makes this Cabin unique
The driveway is long and takes you away from the main road which we really love because it makes us feel like we have our own little getaway. We back up to the future Headwaters State Forest so we take comfort in the fact that we will always have few neighbors and plenty of wildlife. We prefer small indoor living spaces and large outdoor spaces!

Perfect little cabin and beautifully kept grounds
We stayed two nights. The cabin was immaculate when we arrived. The kids loved the loft and being able to sleep up there. The grounds were beautiful and we used one of the three fire pits to build a fire and roast mallows. We would absolutely return again.
Sweet cabin in the woods
Beautiful quiet setting, comfortable cabin! We appreciated the availability of a grill!
This "tiny" cabin is the best!
I wish I could give this cabin a bad review so that no one would rent, and I could keep it all to myself! I can't say enough GOOD things about our overall experience with this host and rental. The quaint little cabin was surprisingly big. They definitely made good use of the limited space available. The host was very attentive to all of my questions, and provided multiple suggestions of good hiking trails and restaurants. She was very accommodating with our requests. Everything regarding this trip surpassed my expectations! I can't wait to come back!
A great place
Clean, comfy, and cozy. A beautiful cabin in a beautiful setting. The hosts thought of everything! Loved it. We had never been to Brevard but definitely plan on returning.
Perfect Accommodations, and Nicely Located.
Stayed here with my wife and two boys. The little cabin is very well furnished, clean, and functional. The owner paid high attention to detail in setting this up as a little get-away in the woods. We used this as a launching pad to visit lots of area trails and waterfalls. Highly recommended!!
Cute little cabin!
We really enjoyed our two night stay at this delightful and brand new cabin. Or three grandchildren loved their hideaway loft which is where they slept. The owner is very nice. There is no AT&T cell service here, but there is a landline in the bedroom. Beautiful drive and beautiful area.
