A happy little home in beautiful BC
A perfect place for a quiet getaway. The cottage is fully stocked with everything you could need and there is so much to do around the area. Everything inside looked clean and new. Our host was super helpful, even listing things to see and do in the places surrounding Wardner and really helped make our vacation great. 10/10
Thank you so much for your kind words. We were so honored that you chose River Song Cottage for a very special family gift to your parents. We will always remember your booking, it meant so much to us.
We truly hope that you will book with us again.
Amazing location beautiful space wonderful owners!!
Owners were amazing to work with and so supportive in any requests we made and helping us find lots of wonderful things to do while we were in the area. The home is absolutely beautiful, property overlooking river and beach area so close was great. House and kitchen So well stocked with anything you would ever need. Highly recommend as a great spot for families. Wonderful in winter and hope to return for a summer stay.
Great location! We had a great stay. It was clean, comfortable and convenient. Communication with property manager was accurate and efficient. Hope to be back one day!
Thank you for the kind words Gilchrist family. We look forward to hosting you again soon.
Fantastic and peaceful place!
These hosts are very kind and easy going. Property is exactly as pictured. The space on the covered deck was a piece of heaven. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
Thank you for your kind words Shauna and Aaron. We are so glad that your family had a great vacation. We loved being part of your family vacation memories. We would be delighted to have you back again.
Loved the view morning, noon and night.
Riversong Cottage was beautifully decorated and maintained inside and out! Jan was very good at communicating with us every step of the way and offering suggestions for the area. The cottage is well appointed with a full kitchen, good quality linens and lots of activities from reading materials, pool table, yard games, movies and board games. We had an enjoyable game of Pictionary complete with the drawing board and markers. To us it seemed to be the best lot in the area for water and mountain views as well as history. We really enjoyed the book about the railway that ran through the area in the 1890’s and searching for traces of where it had been. Quiet moments on the deck overlooking the water were complete with a morning coffee and hummingbirds flitting about beside you. If that isn’t enough you can go one step further and turn on the water feature, also on the deck. A great place to unplug, unwind and enjoy some of the beauty nature has to offer. Great opportunity for photo enthusiasts like ourselves. I do recommend this property if that is what you are looking for. We may book in a different season...Christmas does sound tempting Jan!
This property is just south of the village of Wardner, British Columbia, Cananda. It is a quiet remote 1/2 acre landscaped property on Koocanusa Lake. Lake and Mountain views that are amazing year round. Wildlife, birds of prey, humming birds are all on and around the property. Golf, skiiing, hiking, fishing, wildlife and bird watching are all in the immediate area. World Class fly fishing is right out the back door. (Steelhead trout and Salmon) Both Fernie and Kimberly have fishing guides that can take you out on the best fishing adventures in Canada.
The Village of Jaffray is a 10 minute drive on Highway 3/93. The Willowbend golf course is a 9 hole beauty. The Jaffray pub serves great food and has local entertainment on the weekends. There are gas stations, groceries stores as well as an amazing coffee shop called First Perk (a favorite for breakfast or lunch) great food and homemade baked goods.
An ancient forest with 800 year old cedar trees is close by at Island Lake. The Lodge at Island Lake is one of the best 5 star dining experiences in the area....an absolute must.
Surveyors Lake in the Kikomun Provincial Park is a 1/2 hour drive from the property and is home to hundreds of Painted Turtles and the warmest swimming water in the area.
Downtown Fernie is a 35 minute drive on Highway 3/93. The historical downtown is a must see with unique boutique shopping and amazing restaurants. The Fernie ski hills are open year round for all sorts of adventurous activities (zip lining, mountain biking, hiking and of course world class skiing in the winter). Fernie also has whitewater rafting and of course golf in the summer months.
Kimberly is a 35 minute drive on Highways 3/93 and 95a from the property. The golf courses in and around Kimberly are world class 18 hole courses, but it is the views that will take your breath away. (Trickle Creek, Shadow Mountain, Kimberly just to name a few) The Kimberly Ski Resort offers year round activities. Downtown Kimberly is referred to as the Platz. It is a Bavarian wonderland of boutique shopping, restaurants and activities. A must see. The waterfalls at Marysville just outside of Kimberly are definitely worth seeing and are an easy walk. Take your camera.
Cranbrook is a 20 minute drive from the property on Hiway 3/93. This is a major center with shopping, hospital, dining, and museums. A small city with a big heart. The Train Museum is highly recommended.
South Eastern British Columbia is renowned for amazing views, unspoiled lakes and mountains, wildlife, birds, and a new adventure around every corner. The local people are warm, friendly and always willing to give directions, make recommendations or entertain with a story. (There are some great stories)
This property is remote enough to sit on the decks enjoy all the wildlife and bird watching you could imagine, yet close enough to every mountain adventure or fine dining and shopping that you desire.
About Jan Hay
We have been mountain and wildlife enthusiasts forever. Previously living 90 minutes from Banff National Park, we have spent our lives enjoying the Rocky Mountains and all they have to offer. In 2014 we built our dream home on a pristine lake in the Rocky Mountains in South Eastern British Columbia. We now enjoy the quiet, peaceful surroundings of the mountains and lake year round. Kayaking, Hiking, Golfing, Skiing and Photographing the wildlife, birds of prey, and hummingbirds. Riversong cottage Lake Front On Koocanusa Lake, British Columbia
Jan Hay purchased this House in 2014
Why Jan Hay chose Wardner
We fell in love with this area while on vacation in 2009. The views, the lake, the wildlife and of course the friendly people in the mountain villages and towns in the immediate area. It took several months to find just the right property to build on and when we did, it was like all the stars aligned. We always talked about having a home in the mountains, but we didn't imagine that it would be this magnificent. We found our piece of Rocky Mountain paradise on Koocanusa Lake. As soon as we stepped onto the property, we knew that it was everything that we were looking for and more.
