Escape from it all in our 2 BR, 2BR mountain cabin, which sleeps 6, and is nestled in the quiet, tranquility of the Arapaho National Forest surrounded by pine and aspen trees, with the beauty of Mill Creek running through the backyard. While it feels like your miles from civilization, you're actually an easy, 3 miles off I-70; 15 minutes to both Idaho Springs and Historic Georgetown with lots of activities, shopping, dining, banking, groceries, & liquor stores and only 5 minutes from Downieville with ski & snowshoeing rentals, fast-food, Starbucks, gasoline, and an outdoor outfitting shop . We are in the private and exclusive, Mill Creek Park with the best water anywhere. It is a neighborhood and HOA with part time and full time residents, who's privacy, property, and security must be respected. Mill Creek Road is a county road, with posted speed limit signs, which are to be obeyed, and which is maintained year round, making our cabin a great ski lodge as we are within 30-45 minutes (depending on the winter weather), from multiple ski resorts, including Winter Park, Keystone, Breckenridge and only 15-20 minutes from Loveland Ski Area. You can be up and on your first run, avoiding the congested highway from all the front range skiers, and be home again in the afternoon for a soothing soak in the hot tub and a quiet, relaxing evening at home, playing games, reading, watching movies or TV in front of a cozy fire. If skiing isn't your thing, there's also great sledding nearby and snowshoeing on our hiking trails.
However, winter isn't the only season to enjoy our home. Spring, summer, and autumn all are great times to visit with hiking on quiet, secluded trails right in our neighborhood, fishing in Mill Creek or fly-fishing in nearby Clear Creek, white water rafting, zip lines, the Georgetown loop railroad, gold panning, exploring mine ruins, scenic drives, sight seeing, wildlife viewing, shopping, dining, antiquing, mountain biking, horseback riding, and if gambling is your thing, we are only 30 minutes from the casinos in historic Central City and Black Hawk.
Our cabin has a large living area with an open floor plan, allowing lots of space for gatherings, fun, and relaxation and enough log and wood accents to feel very cabin-like. We have a beautiful, wood burning fireplace & HD TV with Dish Network and a DVD player, both set in an elegant, yet rustic stone wall. The floors are carpeted, hardwood, or ceramic tiled. The home comes with wireless internet access, limited cell phone access, a full, well stocked kitchen complete with dishwasher, freezer/refrigerator, gas stove & oven, and microwave oven. The back of the cabin is graced with a large, wood deck, complete with a hot tub, and outdoor fireplace, with lots of space to sit, relax, soak in the hot tub, enjoy the great mountain air, watch various birds and wildlife feeding at the feeders, all while listening to the rushing water of Mill Creek.
The two bedrooms, we rent, are both on the main floor and each has a super comfortable, queen sized bed, closet and chest of drawer space, decorated in rustic elegance, where you can sleep to the sound of rushing water. Each bedroom has a newly remodeled bathroom adjacent to it, yet both bathrooms are accessible to the whole house, without going through the bedrooms. One is a compete bath with tub/shower combo and the other is a 3/4 bath with an oversized, wheelchair accessible shower. The living room sofa opens to another queen size bed.
Extra deck chairs and folding tables, available for your use are stored in the laundry/utility room which also houses a large capacity, front loading washer and dryer. The entire rented space is on one level with only two steps to get into the house, making both the house and deck completely wheelchair accessible.
Our home is super easy access and a quick 3 miles from I-70.We think you'll love our mountain paradise as much as we do and will want to come back again and again!
