Overview

About the property

This 1926 renovated farmhouse has charm that will make you smile. Only 10 minutes to Asheville, it offers peace, warmness, and relaxation. Everyone who visits comments on the enchanting feel of this unique artists retreat.

The open floor plan, vaulted ceilings, skylights, unique boulder landscaping, and comfy beds create a happy oasis minutes away from Asheville fun. Inside, enjoy 2 comfortable individual bedroom suites with their own private bathrooms, spacious kitchen, and an open living room and dining room. Outside, warm yourself at the fire pit, relax on the back deck or front porch, or feed the resident goats and chickens if you wish. Enjoy the unique large boulders in the landscape, and the artwork in the interior of this true Arts and Crafts gem.

Both bedrooms have comfortable queen beds and jacuzzi tubs in both bathrooms. Large kitchen with stainless steel appliances and washer and dryer. Large open great room and dining area. Coffee, tea, towels, and sheets are all provided.

I stay on the property adjacent to the house on a small homestead when I am renting the main farmhouse out. I respect your privacy and will not come over unless you need something or have a question. In fact, I rarely even meet my guests. I am happy to be available anytime for questions and needs that may arise.

The neighborhood-

No windy, steep roads to go down to get here! Located on a dead end street in the beautiful, historic Swannanoa Valley, the home is less than 10 minutes to Asheville, 10 minutes to Black Mountain, 2 minutes to the hiking trails at Warren Wilson College, and 3 minutes to the hiking trails of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Getting around-

Plenty of parking, near the bus line, and hardly any traffic on the East side of Asheville.

Other things to note-

1)There is a mini farm in the back yard with two goats and two chickens. They are very friendly and sweet. Most people actually say that the goats are the highlight of their stay! The goats names are Chloe and Willis. The chickens names are Holdout and Cluck Norris. If you would like to feed the goats, which everyone does, it is really easy. It is like feeding a dog. I will send feeding instructions upon check in. If you do not wish to feed them, I can come over every morning around the side of the house and feed them myself. You can feed them leftovers and so forth as well. They love nuts and berries. Really just about anything.

2) I do have a $30 fee for extra guests over 4, and this includes babies and children. Thank you for notifying me of any children and dogs that will be staying and please sign up with vrbo appropriately.

3) There is a really nice 32" TV with cable you can watch movies on if you like.

Please treat the house as you would that of a close friend or family member. I would like to find the house very close to the condition in which I left it. House Rules-

-The small loft is a private storage area and is off limits

-Some dogs are allowed, we just have to talk about it, but they MUST stay out of the goat pen, no matter how sweet they are or whatever.

-Smoking is allowed only outdoors or on either porch (please use the ashtrays provided).

-The chimney is old so absolutely no fires allowed (use the nice fire pit outside instead)

-Np parties or events allowed

Breakfast with GOATS!!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved stayed at John’s house! The space was perfect for our 2 couples and the location was wonderful. We attended a wedding close by and it was so convenient to return to our little oasis! We were lucky to have some gorgeous spring mornings and thoroughly enjoyed dining in the back deck and feeding the goats!! John was a great communicator and answered questions before I even thought to ask!!

The proximity to downtown Asheville was quick and easy and it was no problem to catch an Uber home! Hiking spots were also close by!

The Ingles grocery store is not even a mile away and is well stocked for anything you may want or need!

We dined at Native Kitchen and Social pub, the food was delicious and the service was great!!

We would definitely recommend this unique and cozy home!! We hope during our next visit we will be able to use the fire pit!!

Love it! Can't wait to return!

  • 5 of 5

Thank you so much, John, for providing such a wonderful jewel for us to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. The house was fantastic! We loved looking at all the artwork and all the little things that make your place unique - like the stone fountains. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen provided all we needed - just like being at home. We loved the open floor plan and we had plenty of room. We LOVED feeding the goats and gathering the eggs. What a plus! Thank for the fresh eggs. The location is close to Asheville but provides a quiet, serene setting away from the mainstream. We loved it and hope to return!

We had a wonderful time here - the house is so warm and welcoming. The animals are so sweet and were the best part of our stay! Close to Asheville, Black Mountain, and the Biltmore. We would love to stay here again!

Great Place Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay for two couples. Each bedroom has its own bath, it is just big enough, well equipped, and close to everything. An Uber into town is only around $10 - $15.

John is great. Communicates very well and is accommodating. The goats are cool and you may get lucky enough to have some fresh eggs from the chickens.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay again when I am visiting Asheville.

Charming, cozy house in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This property was ideal for our family of four. It had everything we needed, and the owner -John was very friendly and helpful. His recommendations for activities and food were perfect. The goats and chickens were a big hit - entertaining and sweet! The location couldn't have been better. We were close to Blue Ridge Parkway for hiking, Asheville for shopping, and Black Mountain for more shopping and eating. We highly recommend this property and look forward to returning there ourselves.
