About the property

A perfect retreat fronting one of Maui's most beautiful and important reefs

Video Virtual Tour of Property:

Looking for that “Rare Exotic feel” of Stately Polynesian days gone past? Where: remote seclusion surrounds; life is slow; whales can been seen and heard; sunsets inspire your sense of well being; ocean access for water sports is steps out your back door….and yet you are less than 5 miles away from mainstream civilization with all of its amenities. If you are looking for a vacation home and property that is full of heart and soul and not ostentatious, yet prestigious and elegant – you must come and experience this 1.5 acre OCEANFRONT SANCTUARY. Stay in Maui’s resplendent historical location of Olowalu – described as “rare; storehouse of royalty property” and “adjacent to one of Hawaii’s healthiest and unusual coral reef systems”. It’s now Maui’s newest enclave of only a handful of very exclusive residences. Like Old Hawaii , with it’s deep mana – yet offering the privacy and convenience of new. Designed by Glen Mason, an award winning architect renowned for cultural heritage preservation incorporated into new construction. Positioned on the west coast of Maui, the entire property has a wonderful continuance from the progression of a stately yet gradual sense of “arrival” as you drive under the mature indigenous Hala trees, to the approach at the entry courtyard, to crossing the threshold into the entry hall with the immediate “wow factor” of the tremendous shoreline ocean views. The house incorporates authentic design features of 1930s kama’aina architecture – wide verandas, wood floors, spacious rooms with high ceilings, and double-pitched roofs. The 9300 s.f. residence (including lanais) is comprised of three buildings around an open space of pools, gardens, and walkways The main home contains: three master suites, each luxuriously rollicking a sitting room, bedroom, bath with shower and tub, private lanai, walk-in closet; each inclusive of washer and dryer, and, all have magnificent ocean views. The “grandness” of the great room, which flows into the dining area, balances the more intimate embracing spaces of the library and media rooms upstairs. The “public” areas such as the dining, great room, pool, and gym are on the north side of the home and the private suites are to the south, which allows for entertaining without sacrificing privacy at all. The Ocean-view Ohana has it’s own gate-entrance from the drive, exceptional kitchen, master suite, bath and outdoor shower, masterfully linked to the main house by a trellised walkway The third building houses a gymnasium, steam room, recreation room, and an oversized garage/recreation room,. Nearly all rooms open onto lanais and have sophisticated sound/media systems built into the home’s traditional interiors. The dwellings have a modern re-creation of plantation-era , a regal character not just with “plantation themes” but every single detail such as wide baseboards, crown molding, chocolate –heart eucalyptus hardwood floors, etc., make this home feel warm and welcoming – not over-designed. A “real” chef’s kitchen, intricately located, connecting the gathering areas of the dining room, great room to the pool terrace – easy for “group” cooking as well as a wonderful space for the many celebrity guest culinary artists, who have delighted both quaint and large dinner parties. The intimate library has a perfectly “framed” window vista of the West Maui Mountains with the Dicky signature double-pitched roof-lines, in addition to the entry courtyard mirroring the valley. All the stonework bases are constructed from rocks of the Olowalu Valley, ensuring the house is truly grounded on this land. The fireplace in the great room represents more than just ambiance – it’s all about “hearth” and “home”. The 75″ pool is beautifully tiled and is located ever so nicely, weaving it’s way around the main home to the gym/yoga area. While you do have a direct view of the ocean from the pool/ built-in hot tub, the way it is set back on the side of the property keeps it very private and connected to the gym and steam room. Due to the unique design features, there is an amazing ocean view no matter which way you face. The additional aquatic pond provides a nice transition to the sprawling ocean lawn, which has hosted many wonderful parties, special events and several great croquet games. Bocce anyone? You will discover resting in the hammock is one of the great quiet spots. A really special element about this home is that there are fantastic gathering/ entertaining areas, and many quiet little corners to reflect or read. What else is there to love about Olowalu? – ….Whales, Dolphins, many Turtles, Monk Seals, Spotted Eagle Rays mating on the shoreline, Nene flying overhead, Kolea returning from Alaska every year to the immense lawn, Monarch butterflies and the unique yellow Olowalu butterflies that love the stately Monkeypods. Views of the islands of Kahoolawe, Molokini and on a clear day even vistas of the Big Island. From the beach, Lana’i and Moloka’i are a treat to see as well. On a still morning, there is nothing better than sipping that early coffee on the ocean lanai as you can literally listen to the whales singing. Maui’s Olowalu reef system is truly magnificent – the double reef creates a really unique lagoon that is almost always calm and walking out to the edge thru the coral heads during a super low tide is an “only in Olowalu” experience. Olowalu is peaceful /private and has such a sense of being out in the country, but is so convenient to Lahaina and Central Maui, and living here is not just a house on the beach – the old pier, the old plantation manager’s house, the ruins of Kamehameha, the 4th’s sugar mill, the petroglyphs up the valley, hiking along the river and the cultural reserve, all create a really precious neighborhood. The house has a gated entrance which insures privacy.

Amenities include; in-suite laundries and laundry supplies; filtered water; beach chairs; beach and pool towels; spacious bathrooms with separate shower and deep soaking tubs; Kiehl's wash and shampoo; blow dryers; iron and ironing board; 2 Kayaks and life jackets; pool floats; boogie boards; croquet set; game room with pool table and shuffle board; 2 bicycles. Hot tub; 75' pool; steam room, full gym.

Extraordinary All Around Experience!

  • 5 of 5

I don't know where to begin but will tell you that I can't wait for our next visit at Kehili Point! The property and amenities far exceeded our expectations but the real multiplier was our property manager and personal concierge, Audrey. She was truly amazing and assisted our family in making arrangements for all of our activities and dining. If you value quality, privacy, and a unique and exceptional experience than this is the place for you!

Perfect place in paradise

  • 5 of 5

No words can do justice to this house and this setting. It’s a personal resort set on the ocean surrounded by well manicured flowers and fruit trees. The house is straight out of a magazine. So much thought was given to every detail. The owners spared no expense. The 4 self contained master suites were perfect for my family. The pool, gym, steam room were part of our daily routine. We kayaked with the reef sharks and looked for sea turtles almost every day. We used the back lanai as our daily gathering spot. We would plan our day in the morning or recap our day in the evening as we watched and listened to the surf lull us into a trance. Audrey was a pleasure to deal with throughout the entire process. Tomas was around the house everyday making sure everything stayed perfect. He was so pleasant to interact with on a daily basis. The owners of the house also own Leodas sandwich and pie shop across the street as well as Aloha Mixed Plate and the Old Lahaina Luau in town. We frequented all of their establishments while on the island. Every experience at each of the locations was top notch. It is obvious that these people know what they are doing and know how to treat people. We are already discussing our return visit. If you are looking to make a lifetime memory, this is the place.

Absolutely Amazing in every way!!!

  • 5 of 5

This estate was so amazing words cannot express the quality of this home and location. Absolutely amazing views of the mountains out the front of the house with breathtaking views of the ocean out the back. Kitchen, gym, pool, entertainment room, bedrooms, unique showers throughout the house and beds were all amazing. Audrey was helpful above and beyond expectations! This estate is the ultimate hide away. Don’t miss walking to Leoda’s which is amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner! And don’t forget to prebook the Old Lahaina Luau, it was awesome! Audrey and Tim thank you for making a life time of memories for our family!

Unbelievable~ in every way... a trip back to old Hawai'i

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this magnificent Olowalu property when my family, who were visiting from several different places, decided on Maui, for our next gathering! What a spectacular surprise! We felt like we were the only ones on the island... it is on the waters edge (point) and very private.

The house and cottages are beautifully situated and was perfect for everyones privacy. That huge pool was also a "refreshing" plus and a great gathering place for us all! Thank you for an unbelievable stay we'll never forget...

Perfect location for relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

The property is in a beautiful, private and quiet setting. The home is well furnished and has ample entertainment facilities including pool, spa, exercise room, kayaks, bicycles, pool table, SONOS entertainment and other distractions. The home was clean and well supplied. We have rented homes many times in Maui, this is the first time we will rent the same place twice when we return next year!

Beauty, Peace and Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This is an extraordinary home. The best we have ever rented on Maui. The home is large, super clean and everything that you could need is provided, such as shampoo, blow dryers, pool towels, kayaks, skin cream, laundry soap and softeners, extra blankets if you need them, ceiling fans, books to read, filtered water and cold filtered water bottles in the fridge, binoculars, life jackets, etc...

The home is beautiful - period. There is a landscaper there daily Monday thru Friday, he was very polite and was introduced upon our arrival. Every bedroom suite and guest suite has A/C, the main livingroom, kitchen, dining room, long hall and bathroom have windows and doors that open, but no A/C, so be prepared that mid-day to late evening, those rooms get VERY warm. We closed the large doors once the sun went down, the lights on in the home attract lots of flying and crawling insects. With the doors and windows open, it's the same temperature as it is outside, with the kitchen being much warmer if you use the ovens or burners at all. There is a TV in a smaller living room downstairs that we used to watch TV and have our dinner, it had both A/C and a ceiling fan, a very pleasant room. The media room upstairs also has A/C, but we felt no need to climb the stairs to get up there:)

All in all, this is a fabulous vacation home. It is close to Lahaina while still being private and quiet. There is some road noise, but nothing very noticeable.

Leoda's pie shop across the street is excellent. They have a full menu of hamburgers, sandwhiches, hand held meat pies, fries, salads, small pies, etc... Very good and an easy walk.

We enjoyed our time at this home very much and hated to leave!
