Great location. Close to South Congress and the river trail system. Nice house.
Great location to be able to walk to most places
The property was in quiet road and plenty of space , nicely appointed with full kitchen
We were able to walk to south congress and visit great shops and restaurants
We also walked to bullock museum past the capitol and there is easy access within 10min walk to riverside path
Overall a great experience
Kalli met us at the property and was able to give us useful information on how to get to the local places and best way to get to river
Chances are none of these things will be working—even a year from now
Although this was the 2nd year we stayed here, we were saddened to find previous year’s home issues still present and (worse) there were three items that were malfunctioning that the owner knew about before we even arrived.
#1. It wasn’t until the 3rd day of our stay that we were going to use the washer when we found a load of dirty towels & detergent stains that had been in washer for some time. When we told Kassalin, she said, “Oh, yea, the washer isn’t working” (!). She attempted to get an electrician to fix it who got it working for one morning but then the dryer didn’t work. She got him out there again but he wasn’t able to fix it. Although she left clean linens and towels, we were stuck on new years eve with wet laundry and no dryer. Therefore, no laundry use throughout out stay—a problem that could have been remedied before we even arrived.
#2. The ceiling fan ran incessantly in the back half of the house where the living room was making it unusable throughout our stay. When asked about it, she again admitted to knowing it was broken, saying:“Oh, the last person to stay here broke the cord.” Although my husband mentioned that we wouldn't be sleeping in that room, it was freezing outside, thereby making the whole half of the house unusable. Again, a problem that could have been remedied before we even arrived.
#3. The electronic door lock kept malfunctioning locking us out much of the first day and even when she attempted to replace the batteries (probably because the front door is warped and off set). When I texted her, I looked back at my texts from the year before—and sure enough! The door lock had that same problem and there was no physical key left. Again, a third problem that could have been remedied before our stay.
Even tho Kassalin came out to attempt to resolve both the door locking issue and the washer and dryer (she didn’t even try to fix the ceiling fan), all of these issues were not suddenly new ones but ones she knew existed and dampened our stay.
When we attempted to contact her three times to follow up (twice by email and once by text), requesting one nights stay as a courtesy for all of the mishaps, she finally responded by flatly refusing: "if you feel that you did not get the service then you are mistaken….I really am sorry that there were some minor issues during your stay, but I did try and fix them." I agree with the reviewer who said Kassalin does not care about the property or the tenants. Advise: go w another vrbo
Great location, great house.
Very nice and clean house. I’ve stayed in several houses in Austin and this was by far my favorite. Conveniently located close to South Congress in a nice quiet neighborhood. Will certainly try to stay here again.
clean house, good location
Upon first enter, I enjoyed the house - it was clean and in a good location. However, the AC broke halfway through our stay and the owner did absolutely nothing to fix it, forcing us to sleep in a 90 degree home. If nothing breaks, it’s a good spot, if the AC does break, beware Bc the owner doesn’t care and it definitely seems like this happens frequently. I don’t recommend renting as the risk of no AC in Austin is a pretty tough one to take.
The perfect spot!
My team and I stayed there for 10 days during SXSW this year and it couldn't have worked out better. They were able to accommodate sleeping arrangements for everybody very comfortably and the outdoor area was a great feature to hang out and grill. We didn't have a car, but the house is located so that downtown is less than a 30 minute walk away OR you can rent a bike for $8 a day down the road from the house. The river boardwalk is also only about a 5 minute walk away. South Congress an awesome street that we walked almost every day for great food and shopping. Overall, this was a great experience. Nothing bad to say.
