About Suzanne Learned

Susie loves good food and will tell you where the best places are to eat and have fun. She can point you in the right direction to visit beautiful gardens. Loves to cook, garden, read, go to Nia classes, and hike, these are some of her favorite things.

Suzanne Learned purchased this cottage in 1970

Why Suzanne Learned chose Puget Sound North

This property was in my husband's family for over 100 years. It became a summer home and we knew we would end up here. In a short distance there is a cousin who lives in a log cabin built in 1932, He continues to keep it to look inviting.

What makes this cottage unique

I love that we are close to beach with the mountains near by. We used to be corporate nomads living from San Francisco to New York to Arizona. When I first saw this property all those years ago I felt like it was home. Scenery is so spectacular. And it's the people here that make the difference. People really following their dreams here more than any place I ever lived, nice too.

Perfect getaway, all the personal touches, and comforts you can imagine!

  • 5 of 5

To put it quite simply, it was the most enjoyable stay I have had while using a shared rental service such as VRBO. Susie and Howard have gone out of their way to create a retreat. It is a big package for a small space. The kitchen is well stocked with quality tools, including locally roasted coffee and filtered water. The view was outstanding, with multiple locations outside and in to sit back, listening to the waves and watch the flowers grow. As hosts, they were more than welcoming and willing to share the history of the community. Our first morning there we were greeted by the sunrise through the patio and a specially prepared basket from Susie with hot eggs, fresh bagels, and homemade jam. Everything was clean, new, and yet held a comforting rustic feeling that will have you calling for more when your stay comes to a close.

The setting of the beautiful cottage is indescribable between Susie's gorgeous gardens and the view overlooking the water across to Mt. Baker. Which made for beautiful sunrises. The family history we learned and recommendations given just added more to our stay there. The first morning farm to table breakfast was such a great personal touch. I'm not sure when, hopefully soon, but we will definitely stay there again. Thank you to them for such a wonderful stay.

Guest house in the Garden of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

We were immediately drawn in by the picture that is posted for this vacation rental. When we walked through the gates it was like entering a hide-away in the Garden of Paradise!

Everything was just like in the online photos!

The calm, peaceful, beauty of this place is idyllic. Our hosts, Susie and Howard, we're so gracious, welcoming and thoughtful; available for any questions or discreetly invisible if you want complete privacy.

Waking up to this view and sitting on the deck for an early cup of morning coffee, or enjoying a good book in the gazebo in the evening (with a heater, too!), was lovely.

We were very enchanted with the historic, water-front town of Port Townsend with its special markets, festivals, shops, nearby cider farms, and sights. And everywhere in the vicinity there were small, nondescript restaurants with amazing food!

We also enjoyed close-up watching of boats, coming and going, from our restaurant table in the marina at Hudson Point.

And at the end of each day's outing was the enjoyment of coming back to Paradise.

Thank you, Susie and Howard, for such a lovely stay.
