About the property

Seaclusion guest cottage is a comfortable studio close to the beach.

Seaclusion Cottage is located in Port Hadlock, Washington on the Olympic Peninsula just minutes from the historic Victorian seaport of Port Townsend. Enjoy our tranquil garden setting as you overlook the water, or head out to explore one of the many sights in our surrounding area.

A quiet entry leads to an attractive studio cottage with lots of windows for views of the garden and Port Townsend Bay . Lots of outdoor sitting. On a covered porch guests can sit on rocking chairs to overlook the water and garden. Or go to the gazebo surrounded by garden to relax and if it is too cool turn on the gas heater to keep warm.

About Suzanne Learned

Susie loves good food and will tell you where the best places are to eat and have fun. She can point you in the right direction to visit beautiful gardens. Loves to cook, garden, read, go to Nia classes, and hike, these are some of her favorite things.

Suzanne Learned purchased this cottage in 1970

Why Suzanne Learned chose Port Hadlock-Irondale

This property was in my husband's family for over 100 years. It became a summer home and we knew we would end up here. In a short distance there is a cousin who lives in a log cabin built in 1932, He continues to keep it to look inviting.

What makes this cottage unique

I love that we are close to beach with the mountains near by. We used to be corporate nomads living from San Francisco to New York to Arizona. When I first saw this property all those years ago I felt like it was home. Scenery is so spectacular. And it's the people here that make the difference. People really following their dreams here more than any place I ever lived, nice too.

Car: necessary

Visit Finnriver Farm in the heart of Chimacum valley where small local farms abound. Cider tasting and on the weekends there's pizza and oysters.

Perfect getaway, all the personal touches, and comforts you can imagine!

  • 5 of 5

To put it quite simply, it was the most enjoyable stay I have had while using a shared rental service such as VRBO. Susie and Howard have gone out of their way to create a retreat. It is a big package for a small space. The kitchen is well stocked with quality tools, including locally roasted coffee and filtered water. The view was outstanding, with multiple locations outside and in to sit back, listening to the waves and watch the flowers grow. As hosts, they were more than welcoming and willing to share the history of the community. Our first morning there we were greeted by the sunrise through the patio and a specially prepared basket from Susie with hot eggs, fresh bagels, and homemade jam. Everything was clean, new, and yet held a comforting rustic feeling that will have you calling for more when your stay comes to a close.

Owner's Response: Jennifer and Annie, Thank you for the very kind review. Howard and I so enjoyed getting to meet you and so glad we had the opportunity to visit with you a bit. You both were the perfect guests! Everything was left in beautiful order. We really enjoyed talking to you and Jenny and we loved hearing about your work. And Annie we loved knowing about your PT connection. Hope you can come back again. We would love to have you here.

Nourishing and rejuvenating stay!

  • 5 of 5

Waking up early in the morning, coffee in hand and wrapped in a blanket, to sit in the crisp morning air overlooking absolutely stunning views across the bay is a VERY good way to start the day! Susie & Howard were consummate hosts and made our stay exceptionally comfortable. The studio was very clean and well appointed with amenities and the eggs and bagels made for a lovely treat on our first morning.

If you are wondering whether getting up early with the rising sun to sit on the back porch is worth it .. don’t hesitate!

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

I’m a road tripper and have stayed in many cabins, cottages, inns, etc and this one rates as one of the very best. Perfect for a solo traveler or a couple. Wonderful water view, beautiful gardens and the cottage itself looked like something out of a magazine. From the thoughtful details - welcome brownies and a sweet continental breakfast of local fare - to the wonderfully comfy and beautiful decor, it was a perfect getaway. Peace and quiet but close to great areas to explore. I’ll be back for sure.

Amazing host, beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

Suzanne was very welcoming and provided a very lovely and delicious basket of breakfast food on our first morning to last through the weekend. The space was very thoughtfully and beautifully put together including the gardening which blew me away. The view was so pretty out the window and from the gazebo from the gliders. Close to Port Townsend and mountain biking at Gibbs Lake.
