Art...Nature...Mystery?! Marfa is not your typical small, West Texas town! Nor is Casa Julian your typical vacation rental.
Located on a quiet residential street just 2 blocks north of the courthouse, this sleek, comfortable, updated home compliments the surrounding landscape. Everything you've come to town for is within walking distance. And after a day of soaking in the culture, enjoy a relaxing meal or drink on the private patio of the fully enclosed courtyard.
Amenities in the approx 1,600 sq ft home include:
* three bedrooms with queen-size pillow-top beds
* two full baths with tubs/showers
* stained concrete floors throughout
* double-paned casement windows with roller shades
* central heat and air (not always the case in Marfa)
* fully equipped kitchen
* covered patio
* laundry room
along with spacious living areas perfect for planning your day’s experience.
The tiny town best known for its art also boasts breathtaking scenery and a growing culinary scene. So make time to explore Marfa’s foodie side.
Start your day with a stroll over to Squeeze Marfa for fresh juice and a bagel or crescent. By lunch you'll be craving Marfa Burrito or Food Shark. And if you are still hungry at dinner you'll want to try Stellina's for Italian or Cochineal for "New American" depending on your mood. Not hungry? Maybe a cocktail at the Capri or the bar at the Saint George or some live music at Planet Marfa, the local beer garden. If your really adventurous, The Lost Horse Saloon awaits.
Should you prefer to stay in, the kitchen is fully stocked with staples and cookware. Porters, the local grocery store, is nearby and The Get Go Grocery (like a mini Whole Foods) is a 5 minute walk. The outdoor patio awaits.
Located on a plateau of the Chihuahuan Desert, the weather is moderate all year—nights are cool, even in summer (a surprise to most Texans), and the days bright, even in the winter. Fun fact: at 4,688 feet, it's the highest incorporated city in Texas.
In addition to the incredible art, the surrounding area is known for its outdoor recreation, from swimming at the Balmorhea State Park to hiking in Big Bend National Park. At over 800,000 acres it's one of the largest in the lower 48 with incredible scenery to match. And as the sun goes down, head over to the McDonald Observatory for one of their evening star parties. The view of the night sky is unparalleled.
Whether you are new to Marfa or return again and again, Casa Julian is the perfect place to stay. It's close enough to the city center, you can easily walk to many of the attractions within 3 to 5 minutes and far enough away, unlike many other properties, you are removed for the sounds of the trains rolling through the middle of town and the music from the local bars on the weekends. Starting the first day, the stress will begin melting away as you enjoy a real vacation.
Regret no smoking indoors or pets.
