We are a local family who love to share the aloha spirit with visitors to our island. We love to give local insight and great tips on what you can do to have a great stay. My wife and I will give you absolute privacy once you are checked in but will always be happy and available to help you.
Why B. chose Waimanalo Beach
We bought our place because it reminded me of the way I grew up here in Hawaii--near the beach, undeveloped, walking around barefoot. It is true country, no sidewalks, no horn honking, no hassles. People are welcoming, friendly and always willing to lend a hand. I wanted the same kind of upbringing I had for my kids.
What makes this House unique
Our area is truly one of the best kept secrets in the world. It has the most amazing stretches of beaches on one side and towering grooved green mountains on the other. Locals affectionately call our area "God's Country." We are still non commercialized and visitors can really get away. The great thing is that 10 minutes in either direction you will find fine dining, art galleries, and shopping. Kailua (west of us) is fast becoming a "Little Waikiki" where tourist shops and galleries are popping up. It has some of the best little restaurants around. Hawaii Kai (East of us) has three large and busy shopping centers with movie theaters to Costco and everything in between. The drive there is along the Kaiwi coast, one of the most majestic strips of coastline you'll ever see. Lots of little beaches along the way and the famous Hanauma Bay where you can snorkel and see all sorts of ocean life. Water sports galore. We love the hiking in the mountains behind our house. Spectacular views after relatively easy hikes. We are also avid cyclists and enjoy the smooth rural roads just off our street. The Polo fields down the road always offer us "neighing" equine greetings as we drive to the market. We love this place and so will you!

Great location, great beach, great house, great hosts
Our family of 4 (two older teen daughters) spent 8 days from December 22 to the 30th at the house and visited a lot of places on the island but found ourselves pulled back nearly every afternoon to the house and beach just steps away because it was so perfect. First, let me say that Waimanalo Beach is considered "country" on Oahu and the locals at the small church (St. George's) that we went to for Christmas refer to it as "God's country" and we have to agree with them. The area and the house are perfect for a family of 4 or 5 if they are younger. The backyard is safe and welcoming for kids to run around in and is even set up nicely for evening conversations under the stars. The description and photos of the house are exactly accurate and we found the individually zoned air conditioning to really fit our sleeping needs. This is the home to stay if you are looking for a relaxing place, free from the hustle and bustle and crowds of Waikiki and are looking for an authentic tropical beach that stretches for literally miles of open, perfect sand, and fun sized waves to frolic in. Several days it seemed like we were the only ones on the beach and this was during the Christmas holiday times. For the most part, there were only a few locals on the beach during the weekends and other than a few other vacationers, the beach is practically yours. Keren and Bud have a nice assortment of beach toys for all ages and they were very nice and easy to work with.
Bud and Keren were very responsive, gave some nice tips of things to do but also let us have as much privacy as we wanted. Oahu is the most populated island of Hawaii and as you get closer to Honolulu, traffic picks up. One of the things we really liked was the proximity and travel time to some really nice hiking and activities. Travel time to the Makapu'u Lighthouse and tidal pools hike is 10 minutes. Hanauma Bay is less than 20 minutes. The Pill Box hike and Kailua and Lanikai Beaches are 15 minutes as well. We found traffic to be very manageable (especially for that busy week) Basically, we had no problem with this being a base camp for us to go out and explore the rest of the island. Getting to the North Shore, the Swap Meet (a must do if you want the best selection and prices on souvenirs), the Polynesian Cultural Center, Kualoa Ranch as well as Diamond Head and Waikiki was no hassle. We highly recommend this house and would definitely stay there again. Mahalo, Keren and Bud!
Very kid friendly and so close to the beach
We really enjoyed our stay here. Bud and Keren are great hosts and their place is really perfect for anybody traveling with young kids. They even went out of their way to get an extra pack-n-play for us since we had two young kids still sleeping in cribs. Waimanalo beach is great, waves weren't too big so everybody could play in the water. Beach is just a short walk away. There isn't a lot in Waimanalo, but being right in between Kailua and Hawaii Kai gives you lots of options for activities and food.
The property was just as beautiful as the pictures
Keren and Bud were very hospitable hosts. The house was perfect and only about 2 blocks from an amazing beach. The amenities that the house included were incredibly useful, particularly all of the beach gear, the pack n play, and high chair. We had a great stay here and would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend it!
JUST WHAT WE WANTED
Great space for family and great location for those wanting a more laid-back, local experience.
Lovely house in a great location
Thanks to Bud and Keren, our family had a great stay. It was a lovely house and we enjoyed as like it's our own. Everything we needed was there; amenities, lots of bath & beach towels, body board, snorkels, sun cream, and much more!! Thanks again for sharing your house.
Charming little house with awesome beach at end of street.
The home was very clean and well maintained. Bud and Keren greet you personally and provide all the essentials along with a few extras. I would definitely recommend this house. Maloha Bud and Keren
