Great place for friends to hang out after a day on the slopes!
Chamberlands comfortably fit my eight friends and I when we came to Tahoe for a ski trip. The property has spectacular views and was within easy driving distance of both Squaw and Alpine. The great room could not be beat as a setting for playing games after a long day of skiing.
Kirsten, We agree! The views, setting and interior space at Chambers Lakeview easily make for a great vacation spot. So pleased your group enjoyed your stay. We look forward to hosting you in the future!
Loved the open great room, location was peaceful and beautiful. Two families fit perfect. Only criticism is driveway in the snow is little tricky if you have a big truck.
We are so pleased that your families enjoyed the beautiful Lake views and peaceful setting at Chambers Lakeview. We look forward to hosting you again!
Beautiful home; perfect location

A 'comfort' home, a base for the Tahoe experience. (Message from the owners)
This home has been long in our family....now in its second generation. It represents for us the ease and comfort of a full-sized house on the edge of the Tahoe wilderness. It has supported families, relatives after weddings, friends, kids of all sorts, pets, scout backpacking trip preparations. It is great just hanging around, taking the summer bus down to Chamberland's to beach, swim, and hunt for crawdads in the creek.
Literally in the backyard is the open forest, easily traversed in summer for walks, and in the winter by snowshoe. Ellis peak, Quail Lake, deep forest glens and ridges are easily available (details in the cabin guide)
Some of our favorite times at Tahoe in the winter is with a roaring fire in the Great Room, playing games with family at one of the tables, or reading in the big leather chairs. Homewood ski resort, just minutes away, is a mecca for families, particularly when parents can switch off a single parent lift tickets halfway through the day to care for kids not yet up on skis.
The summer attracts us with even more to do. At the house, I love the hammock in the front yard. With a pillow and cold drink, I read there for hours in the shade. Also are the fantastic hikes and backpacking in Desolation Wilderness, off to Southwest of the lake. Across the lake is the summer festival of Shakespeare and other plays in July and August. Great fun after a day on the beaches of Sand Harbor.
We have recently updated the main furniture, carpeting, kitchen appliances and new counters to make the home more comfortable. We have taken advantage of the large kitchen bar for quick snack setup, breakfast, and lazy, long cocktail hour discussions.
We always look forward to the views across to Homewood ridges, and the lake are inspiring (except for the once in a decade massive snowstorm that challenges the whole region to clear snow quickly). We've taken many a sunset colors looking north and north-west across Tahoe. What a way to finish the day!
We hope you choose to enjoy this home and the local region as we do.

p.s. We have provided Chromecast and how-to instructions for you to stream video or audio using your phone, tablet or laptop to the big screen. Or bring your favorite Blu-Ray DVD's. The TV set is 3D capable.
Not what was expected - poorly managed
We selected the house for the view. We were told by the management company the view would be spectacular. However, they didn't advise us they don't clear the deck of snow, so there is no view at all. Even the day we checked in we were told how wonderful the view was and how were going to love the view. No view at all! The snow blocked the view and the management company said the owners didn't want to pay for the service, yet they advertised the view and personally promoted the view. It was deceptive to us. I paid 2k for my visit just for the view, so after being blown off by the management company who wouldn't even supply us a shovel, I purchased a snow shovel and spent over 4 hours shoveling snow myself. We called and emailed the management company but they didn't care and the owner/manager did not call us as promised.
The management company also didn't clear the driveway so the outside garbage container was full of old garbage, so we had to keep our garbage inside the kitchen for four days. The management company also forgot to disarm the bear electrical wires for us to enter the house and failed to build a safe entrance to the house through the snow like all of the other nearby rentals had done. Three other houses in the neighborhood had services clearing the path to their front doors but not at this house. We had a narrow slippery slope with no clearing and no steps. Children and elderly would not have ben able to access the house without falling. The house was great but the property management was not so great. With over thirty years of renting Tahoe houses, we understand that the snow makes things difficult, but this was just a matter of not caring and not spending any money or time preparing the house for rental and still wanting top dollar. We feel we were taken advantage of.
Lastly, during our visit we learned who the original owner was, who has since passed, and being a longtime Stanford family, we knew of the owner's wonderful reputation on campus and know he would never allow his property to be misrepresented or managed this way.
Thank you for allowing me to reach out to you separately on the problems regarding your stay at Chambers Lakeview.
Although your experience during your stay won't be changed I am glad that we could at least offer an incentive and another opportunity to host your stay in the future.
Please feel free to reach out any time!
