About Pam Silverman

We are a San Francisco family who love the outdoors and majestic beauty of our country. We have enjoyed this area for the last 25 years and love sharing with all of our guests.

Pam Silverman purchased this house in 1992

Why Pam Silverman chose Mariposa

We built this home ourselves in 1992.It is built on 3 acres and although there are a few houses in the area, the property is completely private. It is a solidly built home with pine wainscoating and ceilings. It has hardwood floors throughout. We adopted a Native American theme to remind us of our closeness to the earth. Our pool is fed my an underground aquifer with silky soft water. The hot tub is delicious at the end of a busy day.The Mariposa area is beautiful, quiet , magical, and of course close to Yosemite. Our family enjoys the many possibilities for activity in the area, but most of all it is a phenomenal place to relax.

What makes this house unique

We love walking and hiking in the area.. The quiet and the privacy are precious. The starry skies and peaceful warm nights are very special to this location. We have a good book and DVD collection. With a pool and hot tub , what more do you need?

It was perfect! Just outside of Mariposa but yet still felt so secluded and the pool was wonderful

  • 5 of 5

Even with the terrible Ferguson Fire going we had a wonderful time. There were wild turkeys every morning and the house feels much larger than 1100 sq ft. The beds were so comfortable and we had everything we needed

Nice home to return to after day hikes in Yosemite

  • 4 of 5

We stayed here with a couple friends for a weekend of day hikes in Yosemite. The location was ideal, not too far from the park entrance. We loved having the salt water pool and hot tub after miles of uphill hiking and sore muscles. The beds were comfortable. We saw lots of wildlife - rabbits, wild turkeys and birds. Home had a cabinesque feel. Lots of bugs in this area; I highly recommend keeping the doors closed because of this.

One night, one of our friends had an allergic reaction to something and I hurried into town to get some Benadryl. I was Very surprised to find the entire town was out of power and all stores were closed (grocery, gas station, liquor store, etc). This home is located in a very small town.

Overall, this was a nice place to rest our heads and cook our food between hefty day hikes in the park.

House ok, yard/surrounding area needs attention

  • 3 of 5

We rented the house to stay in while visiting Yosemite and surrounding area. The house was ok & clean upon arrival. The beds/pillows were better than most places & very comfortable. Bring/purchase your own ice, no ice maker. We used the cooler only when we arrived back after being out all day, it worked good to cool off the living room/dining/kitchen. We brought our own table fans for bedrooms to circulate the air and cool off the rooms. We cooked a couple of breakfasts in the kitchen which was nice. We didn't use the pool and only used the hot tub once we were too busy sightseeing. The area surrounding the house could really use a good clean up, a lot of dead dried foxtails or other types of tall grass, really a fire hazard. (They had a fire not far from this house while we were there) Afraid of fires so we were afraid to use the BBQs.

We did see a few wild turkey on the property a few times while we were there. House is close to town of Mariposa so eating out provides some options, just remember it is a small town and it gets crowded with all of us visitors, suggest you make reservations or expect to wait. Pizza Factory is good, no reservation required. Charles Street was good, need reservation. Would consider renting this house again if we were going to be in the area but not in the summer when yard/surrounding area is soooo dry. Owners were easy to deal with and communications were answered timely.

Perfect spot. We felt right at home immediately.

  • 5 of 5

I loved sitting in the back while my wife swam and listening to the XM radio. The house had a lot of natural light and was very roomy. The location was convenient but secluded. Really enjoyed the decor, especially the interesting characters around the entertainment center. Absolutely would repeat and recommend.

Beautiful peaceful retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My son, daughter-in-law, grandson and I stayed for 5 days. The home was very clean and property well maintained. It was exactly what we were looking for. Was only 40 minutes to Yosemite - scenic drive. We did call the manager for a problem with the pool cover and a man came within 20 minutes. Would definitely recommend this property to family and friends.
