About Robyn Cammer
Robyn is Rental Manager for The Gardener's House at Frog Holler, which is family owned and managed. She and her parents moved to the beautiful Smoky Mountains from Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1999 to enjoy mountain and farm living. Mom is still active with farm life and harvests in the gardens -- at the age of 96! Fortunate to grow up on several family farms, Robyn has continued her love of the outdoors and creative farming techniques. Since retiring from the legal, real estate and construction fields, she has developed three farms and multiple vacation rentals. She continues as a Vacation Rental Consultant while working in farm consultation/design/development in the Smokies.
Robyn Cammer purchased this House in 2005
Why Robyn Cammer chose Lake Junaluska
The farm is in the middle of just about everything and is surrounded by such beautiful views! Even though it is in a very rural area of farms surrounded by beautiful mountains, it is only minutes from Downtown Waynesville, Maggie Valley, Lake Junaluska and Asheville and all their great events--The best of both worlds. If you want a trip to the city, you are 20 minutes from Asheville. We are just over the mountain from Maggie Valley--about 10 minutes, just 12 minutes from Downtown Waynesville and 5 minutes from Lake Junaluska! And being only 2 miles from Interstate 40 gets us everywhere really fast and easy. Also great in challenging Winter weather since the road is flat to get in and out of the farm. No problem getting to the ski slopes or shopping.
What makes this House unique
The farm offers a serene atmosphere to get away from it all. Become another one of our wonderful regular guests who visit each year! Enjoy fresh veggies, fruit, flowers and eggs from the farm. It does not get any more 'Local' than that! The farm is teaming with songbirds and much wildlife, butterflies, frogs, bees, hummingbirds, not to mention the surrounding mountain pastures with cows and horses, chickens. Just sitting on the deck in the afternoon is an experience you will not soon forget. There is so much activity between all the beautiful flowers. Enjoy a bonfire by the pond at night while listening to a multitude of frogs', coffee on the deck in the morning next to the waterfall and koi pond while enjoying the mountain views. All of this is just minutes from great hiking, rafting, art galleries, festivals, and so much to do. You will want to return again and again like many of our repeat guests (and like we did!).

Serenity at Frog Holler !
Great place to stay! Robyn was very accommodating and fast to respond! We appreciated the complimentary wine and chocolates! Farm eggs and freshly picked salad were also a nice touch! The house was clean and had everything we needed. Great location - peaceful, yet close enough to dine and shop. Enjoyed eating breakfast and watching the Koi in the pond and the birds outside (;-) Lovely place to relax...we love visiting the Mountains!!!
An elegant country gem!
The Gardener's House holds countless delightful surprises, inside and out. Thoughtfully appointed and with every creature comfort considered, this splendid house offers unforgettable views from each window. A stroll through the manicured gardens is a horticultural delight. Architectural Digest meets Carolina Farmer!
Sam and Thom, Thank you so much! I am very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to meet you on your next visit! It makes all the hard work here worthwhile when my guests enjoy their stay.
Look but don't touch!
Great location , very clean and organized . But the beds were so hard we had to sleep on the couch and over sized chair. But the bedding was beautiful ! Also their was so many rules we were afraid to touch anything . After reading the reviews from other visitors I was sure it would had been a place my little boy would have enjoyed but the chickens and bunnies are kept in a coop and not to be touched and we could view the koi pond from the window but the back deck is for the Lilly pad apartment not the Gardner house. Their is only one exit in the Gardner house because the other doors are locked! Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our stay which is a shame because my daughter will be starting western in the fall and we will be returning to the area several times a year.
Hi Richard, I am sorry you did not enjoy your visit. I have no idea what you mean by "look but don't touch" other than a vintage hat and cane hanging on the wall as decorations upstairs. There is a sign that they are fragile and not toys (circa 1920) and belonged to the original owners of the farmhouse. The entrances to the deck were open for you and you could have easily walked onto the deck or contacted us with questions. There were many chairs and rockers for your enjoyment, along with dining tables. Since it was raining most of the weekend during your stay, I am not surprised you did not explore the property.
The chickens and rabbits pasture-range and are not ever locked up in a coop other than at nighttime for their protection from predators. In fact, we have two automatic solar doors that open at 8:30 am and close at 9:30 pm every day. It rained both days you were visiting so the chickens and rabbits may have stayed in their coop during heavy downfalls, even though their doors were open. And like every other guest, you could have fed them through the fence. We do not allow them in the landscaped front yard because our guests do not want to walk through chicken poop plus they damage the gardens and flowers.
Both beds you used had pillow top Memory Foam on medium-firm mattresses. We do realize that everyone has different tastes in mattresses and many people consider our beds very comfortable. Since the majority of people like a mattress with good support, that is what we provide instead of a very soft one.
The only locked doors were staff cleaning supplies/Winter storage area. You had access to both bedrooms, library, bathroom, library/den, living room and kitchen as clearly described in our listing. The glass greenhouse door is locked since we have had damage in the past from children and pets running through the growing beds which affected our supply of salads and produce for future guests.
At no time during your stay did you contact us with any questions or concerns as you were directed or we would have made an attempt to answer your questions and make you happy.
We visit this area a couple times a year and this was one of the best placed we have stayed. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. The beds are very comfortable and clean! If I have one complaint, it was to cold! We will be back in the spring to see everything in bloom. Our girls can't wait to be able to visit the farm.
Thanks, Karen, It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family! Hope you get better weather next time.
Wonderful Haven in Western NC
My friend and I stayed for a (too) short visit while attending a music festival. We both loved the location, grounds, and house. Robyn has done a fabulous job with how organized everything is inside and attention to detail. The kitchen had labels to help us find things in order to cook. We also enjoyed the delicious farm fresh eggs and salad greens. What a nice touch! I would recommend The Gardener's House wholeheartedly to anyone wanting to visit the Waynesville area.
Was a pleasure to have you, Jenny! Hope you can stay longer next time so you can enjoy more in the area.
Great First Experience
This was my first time renting a house. It was a very positive experience. Robyn was very helpful and polite; she even let my daughter pet a bunny on the property. She even had fresh eggs, veggies, and a bottle of wine available for us. This is a very nice two bedroom home with an amazing yard. We had to visit the cows, chickens and bunnies several times a day per the order of my 2 year old daughter. It was truly a home away from home.

Additional information about rental rates
Concerned with a possible last minute cancellation? You can purchase travel insurance online at many sites for as little as $17 or 2% - 5% of the trip cost for extra security and ease of mind. That way, if an emergency were to occur, you have recourse for canceling your stay and obtaining a refund. Just google "trip insurance". Just like a hotel, an authorized credit card serves as a security deposit/damage protection--so you do not incur non-refundable insurance fees or pay a $500 deposit. No damage/no charge. Basic Cleaning Fee of $50 included with stays of 4 nights or more. Billed after registration for shorter stays. See Rental Agreement for complete terms. Weddings/Special Events Packages start at $999.00 (3 Nights) for use of the farmhouse, farm grounds and rear parking area. Rates/fees subject to change without notice. Many sites pick up rental information from other sites and do not always list it correctly. VRBO/Homeaway are generally correct. Owner/Landlord is not responsible for errors caused by other rental listing sites.
