Brookwood House is owner operated with a team of professionals who truly enjoy hosting guests from all over create memorable experiences. I, Adam am an architect, builder, sculptor and energy geek. In 1984 I moved to Floyd County,Virginia, where I designed and built in the Roanoke, Floyd and New River Valley area. I was co-owner of Structures Design/Build until I sold it several years ago. I have designed and built hundreds of homes for other folks. Brookwood is the fourth home I designed and built with my wife and life partner, Elizabeth. The feeling we were striving for at Brookwood is one of relaxation, comfort and safety. At the time we built I had 40+ employees and was working 7 days a week with no vacations, so I designed and built Brookwood to be a refuge and healing space. When I got home, I wanted “instant calm and comfort”. We have certainly found the Brookwood “aura” to be this way. In the last 10 years, I have become a leader in the international Passivhaus movement, which is a cutting-edge technology for low energy high performance buildings. The knowledge I have is now being sought after all over the world. This has led my wife and to relocate to Toronto, where I am acting as an educator for a Canadian Non-Profit promoting Passivhaus on the national level. I was also chosen for a 3-year Edmund Hillary Fellowship in 2018 in New Zealand as a Global Impact Entrepreneur and have just been awarded a permanent designation as an Edmund Hillary Fellow. So, Elizabeth and I have chosen to share Brookwood with others, so WELCOME TO BROOKWOOD!
