About Jennifer VanBerschot

I am an Illinois native who moved to New Mexico after graduating from college. My husband and I have fallen in love with the west. We enjoy being in the outdoors, and our cabin is a testament to our love of traveling to National Parks. When guests are staying at our cabin, you will find us hanging with friends and family at our home in Denver, or going on adventures of our own.

Jennifer VanBerschot purchased this cabin in 2016

Why Jennifer VanBerschot chose Grand Lake

For us, Grand Lake represents everything we love about Colorado. It is quiet, majestic, full of life, and we can hang outside year-round. This cabin is big enough to host our families, yet cozy enough that nobody gets lost. We appreciate the humble original cabin (you can see photos in the cabin) and the expansive addition. The kitchen is a place where we can make gourmet meals, and each room has a place to let our inner artist shine.

What makes this cabin unique

Our cabin has it all. We spend a lot of time in our kitchen, where we cook delicious meals. Our kitchen has all the pots, pans, utensils, and spices you could ever need. We watch very little television, so while we have a nice television at the cabin, we spend more time playing games and putting together puzzles. The house is stocked with games for people of all ages. We also like to let our inner artist shine, so we have paper, colored pencils, yarn, and hooks to share with our guests.

Notes:
The cabin is a testament to our love for the national parks. You will see photography and posters from some of our favorite sites. We are both from big families, so we made sure to have a lot of warm beds in the home. A brief 5-minute drive or 20-minute bike ride will get you to downtown Grand Lake where you can find a public beach and park, as well as a myriad of coffee shops, stores, and casual and fine-dining restaurants. Arapahoe National Recreational Area is all around us – boat, ski, or fish in Grand Lake, Lake Granby, or Shadow Mountain Lake. The west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is 10 minutes away in car. Skiing resorts are also nearby – Ski Granby Ranch is 25 minutes away, and Winter Park Resort is 40 minutes away. Hot Sulphur Springs is 25 minutes away and a good visit all year long! The neighborhood where we live is extremely quiet – that’s why you can usually see wildlife during your visit. Contact us with questions! We're always quick to respond.

Fall in RMNP

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. With the closeness of RMNP, we were able to make multiple trips into the park in the short time we were there.( We saw 4 moose in the park)! The house had everything that we needed. Without tv service, we were able to relax and " decompress".

Great location for Grand Lake and the many lakes around there.

  • 5 of 5

There were 4 old ladies celebrating their 55th high school reunion. We decided we could have more fun in the mountains around Grand Lake than in Peoria, IL. We each had our own bed which was very important. The kitchen was well furnished so we cooked some meals in yakking away. The cabin was perfect for us.

A grand place to stay in Grand Lakes

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time staying here. It was near to town, but still gave us the peace and quiet of the mountains. The owners were very responsive to our questions and helpful during our stay. Everything we needed during our stay was there for us....

Only negative was no tv in main living area, and the one, was in a bedroom. Had to travel out for the Bronco game such as it was!

Wonderful cabin in a peaceful location. My family loved our stay.

  • 5 of 5

Jennifer was a great host, and her cabin was perfect for our family of six. The location allows for great privacy while remaining a convenient drive into the town of Grand Lake. Beds are comfortable. Kitchen is well equipped for families like mine that like to cook. The deck and fire pit are fabulous for quality family time. We really enjoyed seeing the stars each night as well...so much prettier in the mountains. This was our first family trip to Grsnd Lake, and we hope to have many more. Highly recommend kayaking on the lake, renting off road vehicles in Winter Park, and seeing a live performance at the local repertory theatre in Grand Lake. Long drive from Oklahoma, but well worth the trip. Thanks, Jennifer! We appreciate your hospitality. Hope to visit your lovely cabin again sometime.
