Location is great but the condition of the property was very poor.
The location is great ! The condition of the condo is VERY poor. The beds in the 2nd room are awful ! There were springs coming thru the bed - tried to cover the up the springs with a sleeping bag under the mattress pad !!
The kitchen was not well equipped- we had to buy silverware ! Very little supplies in the kitchen. The windows are stuffed with paper towels to stop leaks, I assume. Paint is peeling and carpets are stained. The drapes are way too long for the windows. Fireplace does not work. In desperate need of work !!!

Condo smelled like urine. No decent cooking pans

Convenient but outdated property
The nice things about this townhouse is that it has a lot of room and it has a great central location on Hilton Head Island. The property itself feels old. The roads and walkways need serious repairing. It is very dark at night and could use more lighting. The townhouse was generally clean but had an older musty smell to it. It is dog friendly if you have a dog. They have very strict rules on "check in" and "check out" and are not flexible about this because of their cleaning staff. Overall, I would try not to stay there again. The musty smell bothered my allergies.
This is a FANTASTIC property
My wife and I visited during Labor Day Weekend and were very impressed with this property. It is tucked away in a private golf community. It is just like staying at a full-sized apartment. Everything was very clean upon arrival, and the decor is modern (unlike many beach condos). The only negative thing to report was the noise from the adjoining property. As these are duplex-style condos (with this property being on the top floor), our 'neighbors' were quite noisy. I'm not certain if the walls were just thin or they were purposely stomping around, but the noise was quite disruptive at times. Otherwise, we will definitely be staying here again!
The condo was not very clean. The shower curtain in the guest bathroom had mildew and mold at the bottom. The air conditioner didn't work and stopped several times. The condo was very hot and muggy. We did like the layout of the condo and would have really liked it if it had been clean and maintained. The Evian development was very nice. Just will stay in another condo next time.
Spacious and well equipped
The unit was very very well laid out and offered a great deal of storage - a plus when staying for more than a few days. I especially appreciated the large capacity washer and dryer, blu-ray player and well equipped kitchen. The king bed was quite comfortable, the two twin beds not so much, but would work well for kids. The towels appeared new and were plentiful in supply. The starter supplies (toilet paper, trash liners, dish soaps, etc.) were adequate to cover our stay. As the unit is upstairs, we did not have a problem with overhead noise and only heard our downstairs neighbors once during our stay. Other pros include a great wi-fi connection; reasonable cost; close proximity to beach, pool and other activities; spacious balcony with table and chairs; and excellent customer service from rental company.
Cons include a definite pet odor and some bugs. That being said, the advertisement clearly indicates that this is a pet friendly unit, and as dog owners, we know the challenge of minimizing pet smells. Further, it would be nearly impossible to prevent bugs in this type of climate and it was clear the unit had been treated for pests.
Overall, I enjoyed our stay at Evian 138 very much and appreciate the comfort and value it offered.
