About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half bathroom, sleeps 8

Surrounded by a national preserve, this 3 bedroom/3 bathroom villa has all of the modern luxuries for a perfect vacation including luxury linens and bedding, beautiful furnishings, wood burning stove for cold winter nights, fully stocked kitchen, formal dining room, sattelite tv and internet. Experience nature at its best with beautiful gardens in the summer time and snowy landscapes in the winter with local wildlife stopping by for daily visits. Autumn foliage is spectacular and watching the sunset from the back deck is something special. Only 90 minutes from NYC by car or train (Metro North to Grand Central) and about 30 miles to West Point and New Paltz, other attractions are our world renowned wineries, skiing, snow tubing, antiquing and ice cave exploration in the Shawngunk Ridge. Our town is surrounded by the Wallkill River great for fishing and white water rafting. Your rental includes a meet and greet by our property manager as well as 24 hour concierge services.

Mount Peter Skiing: Mount Peter is located in Southern New York in the heart of the Hudson Valley, just a short drive away. We are known for many things, like our famous Free Beginner Ski and Snowboard School, our great snowmaking and expert grooming, an awesome terrain park, our top-notch racing and development programs, and our family atmosphere.

Did you know that Mount Peter was started in 1936 by Macy’s Department Store to show off and sell their ski fashion? The mountain that started so many years ago as a savvy marketing tool has grown to be a cherished place for people to fall in love with winter. Mount Peter - known as “The Friendly One” – is the oldest operating ski area in New York State, and one of the few remaining family operated ski areas in the country.

Snow Tubing: December 26, 2010 —March 02, 2011

The Orange County Snow Tubing & Winter Sports Park opens for the season on December 26. The park is situated in the Thomas Bull Memorial Park, Route 416, Montgomery.

The 800 foot snow tubing hill features two cable lifts, ten groomed lanes and specially designed tubes built for a speedy, thrilling ride.

The park also features an ice skating rink, sledding hill and cross-country ski trails. People must provide their own equipment for these free activities.

The Graham M. Skea Lodge, located on top of the tubing hill, offers beautiful views of the Hudson Valley and features a concession/restaurant and large stone fireplace.

Birthday party packages and youth group bookings are available for snow tubing.

Weather conditions may affect the opening date. For more information, please contact the Orange County Department of Parks.

Ice Caves: One of the most exciting and accessible hiking destinations in New York are the Ice Caves in Sam’s Point Preserve, which are, thankfully, meticulously guarded by the Nature Conservancy. Containing ice caves in the depths of its crevasses, this is the greatest open fault in the United States (known geologically as the Ellenville Fault.) The strange environment consisting of globally-rare, ridge-top dwarf pines, huckleberry and blueberry fields, beautiful flowers, deep crevasses and phenomenal views seems to transport the hiker to places more arid than lush New York… perhaps the craggy, dry southwest. The 5,400 acre preserve is located atop the world-class rock climbing Shawangunk (the “Gunks”) range, which is close to the wonderful college town of New Paltz, where you can find lots of good restaurants, shopping and lodging. The area was formed on the ocean floor about a half-billion years ago when a layer of shale formed and was pushed up into the air over time.

Beautiful property with a very comfortable backyard for winding down at the end of the day!

  • 4 of 5

Such beautiful, quiet surroundings! We felt very glad to come "home" every night after touring Watchtower facilities and enjoy a quiet backyard with such a peaceful setting! The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the amenities in the kitchen made it very convenient for cooking and entertaining. We would wholeheartedly recommend this home and be more than happy to stay here again!

Nice quiet cozy

  • 3 of 5

The house over all was very nice. Location was great close to stores but far enough to enjoy quiet and rural area. It could have been a little cleaner, blinds, cabinets and showers needed sprayed down but nothing that we could wipe down and be comfortable with. The patio with fire pit was amazing we sat out and enjoyed the evenings. I especially liked that the kids were comfortable, we didn't have to worry about them, being the property was big enough to have privacy and they could play outside. Rick was very accommodating we showed up earlier than expected and he was happy to assist us in our stay, he was available if we needed anything.

It was better than described. New appliances, great patio and Rick was very accommodating.

We loved the peaceful country setting. We would sit out in the evening with their beautiful ornamental fire on low , look at the night sky and feel all the stress melt away! The only complaint is we didn't have more time to spend there. We enjoyed touring Patterson Education Center, Walkill and even got into the city to see The Met and enjoyed one of the very interesting Oasis Tours. We will definitely go back to this rental when we can.

Lovely Hudson Valley Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a marvelous time exploring the countryside surrounding this lovely home. The house was in a very quiet setting surrounded by nature. It was a nice place to enjoy a summer evening in the well maintained backyard - nice patio area and very cool fire pit. The house itself was extremely clean and comfortable. Sheets and towels were luxurious as advertised. We enjoyed hanging out at the house as well as exploring the surrounding area. We would definitely recommend a stay here to others especially if you enjoy quiet and comfort. A nice setting to get away from it all and relax!
