Comfy Apartment w/Parking. Walk to Metro, Cafés, Restaurants, Nightlife.

Bedrooms 1
Space 700 sq ft
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Large efficiency. 1 bed, 1 bath, sleeps up to 2 adults, 4 total.

Nice efficiency apartment in a popular neighborhood. Within walking distance to many restaurants, pubs, and cafes. It is very close to metro - only a 5 minute walk to the Shaw metro stop on the yellow line. Great for a couple, small family, or short-term work assignment. There is a private entrance and it is equipped with a large flat screen tv, that you can watch in bed on lazy days, high speed wireless internet, washer and dryer and full size kitchen.

The apartment includes a guest parking pass that allows you to park on the street for your entire stay.

There is corner market a block away that has essentials, a Giant supermarket a 15 minute walk or a quick ride on the G2 Bus (that picks up at the house). There are three other large supermarkets (Harris Teeter, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's) within a 1 mile radius.

Linens, towels, shampoo, dishes, pots, etc. are all provided

This is a completely private apartment on the ground floor of a townhouse on Cooper Circle with natural morning light from the front window and door.

Below is a map of the apartment location with my restaurant recommendations and and the route to the Shaw metro stop:

About Austin

Former Army officer, attorney and entrepreneur. I've lived in the neighborhood since 2001 and love it.

Austin purchased this apartment in 2001

Why Austin chose Le Droit Park

The apartment is ideal for people who want to be in a walkable neighborhood, close to metro, but who are on a budget. It's in historic Ledroit Park near U Street and Logan Circle neighborhoods.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Excellent stay! The apartment was well equipped, fun location, and close to the metro. Would definitely recommend!

Convenient, in a good neighborhood, had everything we needed.

  • 4 of 5

We arrived in the evening and found that the apartment had not been cleaned. A quick call to Austin and he rectified the situation while we were having g a late dinner and drinks nearby. It was a simple misunderstanding of the schedule I think and Austin was readily available and quick to act.

First impression: small and dark. BUT: it is a lower level studio apartment. We ended up really liking it. We were so busy during the day and when we went back in the evening we just wanted to crash and watch a movie. Big TV, comfy bed, effective air conditioning, clean and nicely decorated.

Make sure you explore the Le droit neighborhood - great architecture and history. We used the Shaw metro station - an easy 6 block walk. There is also a bike share station a block away.

I would stay here again.

A fine resting place after long days sightseeing in DC

  • 4 of 5

Located in a quiet neighborhood, this basement apartment was a fine resting place after long days in DC. About a 10 min walk to the Shaw/Howard metro station, getting to the city was quick and easy every day. The Shaw/Howard district was a nice area with several nice restaurants. We never felt unsafe in this area.

This apartment was fine. You'll get a full size bed, a futon that's a couch by day, and an additional bed at night. There is also a Serta air mattress. The area rug you see in the photo needs cleaning. The orange chair and ottoman needs to be cleaned or set out at the curb, it was dirty. Kitchen table is great, kitchen was great. Bathroom was fine. Only problem I had with the bathroom is that the curtain liner should be changed, it has mold on the bottom.

The owner, Austin, was extremely attentive. We exchanged texts numerous times and he was always concerned about our comfort and getting everything right. He leaves you with an incredible list of local restaurants and stores complete with a map showing the location of each. The free on-street parking is a bonus with this place.

If your vacation to DC is like ours was, you are gone from early morning to late evening so you are really only here to sleep. I am pretty particular and I would even say this place is fine for your short trip to DC. And the owner is very easy to work with which is nice.

The property is a perfect location. Very nice restaurant Shaw Tavern and close convenient store. 9 minute walk to the metro in a quiet neighborhood with very nice and neat homes. I would recommend this to all of my friends. The owner Austin was very nice.

Just what I was looking for.

  • 4 of 5

This apartment was exactly what my family needed for our week in DC! Yes, the ceiling is low in the bathroom but it clearly states that. The bathroom needs some TLC but at the cost I wasn't expecting the Ritz. My son joined us part of the week and the futon was perfect for him. We loved Bacio and Shaw's Tavern, which were both recommendations from Austin.

Great for us

  • 5 of 5

Nice, quiet area. It's always great to stay in a real neighborhood, gives you a better sense of a place. Cool, up and coming neighborhood. Lots of young people and new construction. Austin's restaurant and bar recommendations were helpful. As far a people complaining about the shower, I'm 6'1" and I could stand in there (I did have to bend down a little to rinse my hair). Place was perfect for out needs.

Poor lighting and a horribly musty smell. The place was okay, but there is zero natural light.

  • 2 of 5

The location was okay, it was about ten minutes from a subway stop, and about twenty-five minute walk from the nearest grocery store. I would describe the neighbourhood as fine, but it is certainly not the nicest and I was left feeling slightly anxious when walking around in the late afternoon or evening. The suite itself was not great. There are no windows in the basement suite, and no sunlight. The suite is very musty, but you get over the smell soon enough. The living are is beautiful, with a nice sofa and comfortable chair. The TV is nice, with a wide array of channels. The bed was decent, and two people could comfortably sleep in it. The washroom was very small, and the ceiling was very low. Standing up straight, my head pressed into the ceiling. All in all, the suite was okay but I would not stay there again. I would look for somewhere in a nicer neighbourhood with better lighting and amenities.
