Overview

About the property

- 2 BR, 2 BA, .

Our home has a large kitchen, dining and living area with windows across width of house overlooking Canyon Lake. There are 3 additional 'living areas' outside: the 'back' porch directly off the house with ceiling fans and a large picnic table that seats 10; the lower deck with two tables providing seating for 8; a stone patio nestled in oaks and cedars just above the Lake level. A hot tub is on a separate extended deck where evenings can be enjoyed under the star-lit night and overlooking the Lake. Deer visit each morning and evening looking for corn (and in between if you will feed them). Many will eat from your hand. Enjoy water activities in front of the house where you can kayak, boat, sail or play with PWC's. They can be anchored just offshore. Or if you prefer, take a swim and enjoy the cool, refreshing Lake. You may prefer to sit on the swing on the back porch and just watch others below enjoying water activities.

What you have to look forward to!: Feed the deer that congregate at the front door (some will feed from your hand!). Watch the numerous boaters/jet-skiers and other water activity from the privacy of the back porch or lower deck. Enjoy the hot tub while watching the sunset over Canyon Lake or the moon rise above you--or a star-lit night with a shooting star or two--or three! Take the steps down to the Lake to take a dip in the cool. clear, refreshing water of Canyon Lake. Get the kids and go fishing at the water's edge. These are just a few of the amenities available to you if you decide to 'hang' around the house.

Don't Forget to Plan Carefully for the Sunset!: Gather round with your cool refreshments of choice and settle in to watch the unforgettable sunset. Each evening is different so you don't want to miss the show! As the fireball finally settles down behind the hills, toast the wonderful day, ring the bell (located on the back porch) and plan for the next fun-filled day!

If you have trouble booking your preferred dates, be sure to call us at 713-557-7854 for assistance and alternative options.

Our home is located on grounds that contains 2 homes with a vacant lot between,. The homes can be separately rented, giving lots of room to accommodate an event (i.e., wedding, family reunion, corporate break-out, etc.). The two homes together will sleep 12 to 16. Call for information, if interested.

About Shirley or Paul Jauma

Paul and I are from Houston and enjoy traveling throughout the US and abroad. However, our favorite place to be is right here at Canyon Lake and the Texas Hill Country. We love sharing our "special part of the world" with others.

Shirley or Paul Jauma purchased this house in 2006

Why Shirley or Paul Jauma chose Hill Country

Our home on Canyon Lake in the Texas Hill Country affords the ability to enjoy so many activities in the area--we are half way between San Antonio and Austin. With such convenience, we have best of all worlds--water and related activities, beautiful scenery, rural living but close proximity to major metropolitan areas. Our home is quaint and set in a natural environment to enjoy nature at its best.

What makes this house unique

Our home is very special to us . We take pleasure in sharing our labor of love with our guests. The property is purposely kept a bit natural to enjoy nature at its best, deer visiting at our doorstep morning and night and our grey fox making an appearance from the den below the bluff. there is also the fire pit to enjoy smores and most importantly, the pleasures of a natural Canyon Lake shore. Don't forget the incomparable, beautiful Sunsets!!

ENJOY!

A Rental that Exceeds Expectation

  • 5 of 5

We arrived late afternoon to a yard full of almost-tame Canyon Lake deer and a sense of relief that here was a rental that actually exceeded expection! The house is right on the lake, it was beautifully-decorated, there was nothing lacking in the kitchen or anywhere else. The hot tub was looking right over the lake but still very private. The outdoor stereo speakers allowed us to listen to the tv/CD's while grilling out on the deck. And though there were houses on both sides, we felt very secluded due to the way the house sits on the lot.

We had a great time feeding & photographing the deer; the owners provided a bin of corn for us to feed the deer. We only left to do some riding in the beautiful Texas Hill Country surrounding the home; the rest of the time we just enjoyed the lake and house.

The nearby town offered a well-stocked grocery store, several restaurants, a liquor store - very much more available in the town than we expected.

The owners were great to work with from start to finish. When we couldn't figure out how to turn up the temperature on the hot tub, we called and they not only gave us concise instructions but also had several great suggestions as to what to do in the area.

We had a friend stay overnight who lives about 100 miles from this property. He was so impressed that he got the rental info from me so he can rent it in the future.

We will definitely be back, and will tell anyone interested in a Texas Hill Country rental about this place. It was reasonable, private, well-stocked & beautiful - all the ingredients for a perfect vacation!

Fabulous views!

  • 4 of 5

This house is extremely well stocked, including food for the deer who visited daily. The refrigerator includes an ice maker, and was full of ice when we arrived. Much appreciated! The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of closet and dresser storage. Each bathroom had a linen closet complete with extra towels and a laundry basket. The master bath also had a washer and dryer. There were lots of entertainment options besides the deer, including cable TV, puzzles, books, games, etc. The WiFi worked flawlessly. The owners were quick to respond to my questions/suggestions and returned our damage deposit promptly. The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars was the small size of the showers in each bathroom. Sadly we didn't see the sun during our stay so missed the highly touted sunsets. It started raining right after we arrived and was still raining when we left 4 days later. That didn't stop us from taking in some of the area attractions though. Thank you for sharing your home with us Shirley and Paul!

Great Spot on the water!

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our family time at the lake. Beautiful views. Nice amenities.

We enjoyed building a fire at the fire pit since the burn ban had been lifted, we brought our own fire wood and grill to lay our shish-kabobs on and then roast marshmallows for so-mores. Steps going up to house gave us a workout but was worth it.

Rocky shore was nice for getting in and out of the water. My son-in-law enjoyed using his kayak, too. We also set up our popup shade tent down by the shore.

We cooked all our meals there in the spacious kitchen.

Having to go thru the bedrooms to get to the bathrooms was a little weird for the guest sleeping on the futons in the living room, but we all made due.

Large covered deck was great for breakfast dining, storing ice chest and wet towels.....or gazing at the beautiful sunsets.

The location was perfect, close to a boat ramp for our boat

  • 5 of 5

The 2 bedroom set up for couples was great. Views of the lake were beautiful. Loved all the deer and lots of corn to feed them. Spent time by the water at night and had a fire. Very peaceful and relaxing.

Canyon Lake Gorgeous Sunsets

  • 5 of 5

Spent Labor Day Holiday at this fabulous Lake house on Canyon Lake. Feed the deer, food provided by host, everyday. Was just a short 15 minute drive to the Marina where we rented a boat for 4 hours. The Lake house was very comfortable, with a well stocked Kitchen. The real advantage is the Sunsets over the Lake, stunning. Would stay here again. Host were very responsive to any questions we had.

Clean house with Great Lake views

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a couple of weekend nights and were very pleased with the house overall. I would say that the biggest highlight is the awesome lake view, but the hot tub was also a nice bonus. Perfect house for two couples or a smaller family.

Map

Car: necessary

Boat launch is less than one mile from the house. A short 10-minute drive takes you to Crane's Mill Marina where boat slips can be rented on a daily basis and motor/pontoon/sail boat and jet-ski rentals are available. There is a restaurant accessible from the Lake as well as a front drive for vehicles. Drive 15 to 20 minutes to Hwy 306 to tube or fly-fish on the Guadalupe River. Awesome shopping is available in Winberley, Bourne, Gruene, Fredricksbrg, the outlet malls in New Braunfels and San Marcos and, of course, Austin and San Antonio--all can be reached within 30 to 60 minutes (with exception of Fredricksberg which is closer to 80 minutes). Gruene offers live music nightly (summer) in places like historical Gruene Hall. Restaurants abound in these areas or you may prefer a simple home-delivered pizza from Startzville.

Other Activities: Parasailing, Kayaking.
