Aloha Visitors to The Big Island. My name is Paul Kauffman. I was born and raised in Chicago. I am a CPA who specializes in taxes. I have traveled all over the world for both business and pleasure. I swim, snorkel, scuba dive, sail, paddle, hike, bike, and golf. I have been coming to The Big Island since 1981. My wife and I moved here full time in January, 2000. The Big Island has always been very special to me. I love the size and diversity of the Island (It is over 4,000 square miles and as big as Connecticut). It still has the ALOHA spirt and much of the Hawaiian culture has been maintained. It is quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and very relaxing. The Island has a wonderful balance between man and nature. It also has a positive, healing almost spiritual nature. Virtually all of my renters have been refreshed and rejuvenated by their visit here.

I have been here since 1981 and know every inch of this beautiful island. I have always been attracted to The Mauna Lani Resort. It has a quiet and understated elegance. The grounds and the landscaping are beautiful. The 7 white sand beaches are exquisite. You can eat, shop, golf, play tennis and go to the spa. I love 'turtle beach', the ancient Hawaiian fish ponds, the turtle pond and the shark pond. You really never have to leave the resort. It is within 5 minutes of the best things to see or do on the island. The Fairways is the best subdivision at The Mauna Lani. The grounds are beautiful. We have a resort style pool and hot tub, lava rock waterfalls, koi ponds, and a state of the art air conditioned fitness center. The Town Homes are large, beautiful, and very well built with every amenity you could ever want or need. The price and value for these units is outstanding.

What makes this townhome unique

I love to cook. I enjoy the electric cook top range, oven, microwave, and Viking gas bbq. I much prefer to eat at home and enjoy wine and a cocktail. I also enjoy saving at least 90% on the cost of eating out at the restaurants. The viking bbq is great. It includes a rotisserie and a smoker. It is on the wrap around lanai with a wet bar and native ohia posts. I enjoy the great sunsets and the peace and quiet of the resort. I also love the pool, hot tub and fitness facility. It is all right there at no additional cost. The beaches are great. I often go to the owners only Beach Club and take my grand daughter for a swim. It is beautiful, protected from the surf and has great snorkeling and scuba diving.

Owner's Response: THE DISHWASHER DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE ISSUE IS THAT THE DISHES NEED TO BE RINSED BEFORE USING THE DISHWASHER. THIS IS A RESORT STYLE DISHWASHER AND CAN NOT PROCESS HEAVY FOOD WHEN LEFT ON THE PLATES, PANS, ETC. BEFORE THESE RENTERS ARRIVED, I ADVISED THEM IN WRITING THAT THE DISHES NEEDED TO BE RINSED BEFORE STARTING THE WAS DISHWASHER CYCLE. THERE IS ALSO A SPECIAL DISHWASHER CLEANER UNDER THE SINK THAT REMOVES ANY POTENTIAL SPOTS. MY CLEANING STAFF ALSO RUNS A CLEANER THRU THE DISHWASHER EVERY 30 DAYS. Beautiful house, wonderful location

This is the second time we've stayed at Paul's Townhouse and the experience remained the same. Wonderful!! The place is clean and comfortable and the beach is fantastic for snorkeling, swimming or just sun bathing. I guess the only bad thing I can think of, is we were not able to stay longer!!

Awesome Launching Pad for Young Family

Paul's townhouse was the perfect launching pad for adventures on the Big Island for our young family. I was attending a seminar at the Fairmont Orchid for the first 4 days of the trip and we felt that we got far better value for our money at this unit than a room at the hotel yet was close enough I could walk there in 10 mins. The unit was as advertised. The kitchen was well stocked and having in suite washer dryer meant we didn't spend our vacation at the laundromat ;-P Our kids (aged 2 & 4) loved the pool at The Fairways and they have a nice shallow toddler section. It was an easy walk to the beach at the Fairmont- the kids loved seeing the goats and feral kitties along the way. The unit was equipped with boogie boards, coolers, and all the sand toys we needed. The closest beach is perfect for little ones yet has great snorkelling. We swam with green sea turtles almost on a daily basis! There are bathrooms in close proximity and if you need a mai tai or a latte- all the options are right there. Overall we would highly recommend Paul's unit to anyone but especially if you want to have a relaxing vacation with kids. Mahalo!!!

Fantastic Resort Townhome

We were 2 couples from opposite sides of the country that met at Paul's townhome in Hawaii for 10 days. The place was perfect-all the necessities were provided for us so that other than food, we were really wanting for nothing. The outdoor patio and Viking BBQ were wonderful-just a great inviting place for morning breakfasts and evening meals. The amenities at The Fairways were wonderful-the Beach Club was fantastic for lazy beach days, wonderful meals and great mai tais! We would not hesitate to use this place again or recommend it to anyone coming to the Big Island for the resort location, activities, convenience to the island sights and the right amount of privacy. Paul is a wonderful and concerned host and you won't be sorry about making a reservation here.

Perfect location.

We have been coming to the Big Island for almost 20 years and have stayed at a variety of vacation rentals in Kailua Kona, we decided to try something different. This unit was perfect; it is well stocked and located. It is close to the best beaches and restaurants. The setting is quiet and private but close to amenities. The owner, Paul was very helpful. We will definitely return to this spot.
