Only a few blocks from downtown St. Remy de Provence, this Mas (long stone farmhouse of Provence) from 1800 has been preserved to give the most authentic flavor of genuine Provence. The house is located on a former Roman site and has kept evidences of the roman roads passing though the grounds planted with local trees, bushes and flowers (olive trees, lavender, cypresses, oleanders) that surround an unusual roman-style swimming pool. 80 kilometres from Aix.This place is meant for lovers of antique furnishings and who are sensitive to a feel of history! The five bedrooms plus one "dorm" for four children allows groups of friends or large families to be comfortable to stay in the house when not exploring all the sites and historical villages nearby.
The Mas "Bello Estello" (Beautiful star) located at the bottom of the Alpilles. It is surrounded by Olive trees and vineyards, with a beautiful open view on the Alpilles. Very private, the garden has been decorated with roman stones. The interior of the Mas respects the Provençal tradition. Nice antiques, French country furniture and fabrics give a very special charm to every room. Kitchen: traditional cooker, microwave, dish-washer. One bathroom has tub plus shower over, the other bathroom a shower.
Bedrooms: one "kids'bedroom" with 2 single beds, one double and two extra matresses, 2 bedrooms with double beds, 3 bedroom with queensize bed, an office with a double bed can also be used as a bedroom.
We now have DSL internet connection! Unlike many other houses, you can WALK to the village from our home (10 minutes)!

I and my brother have been owners of the mas since 2005, but our family has owned it for more than 100 years... I have two children, and four beautiful grandchildren. I am now retired and my daughter Céline is the one who takes care of the rentals.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 1900
Saint Rémy de Provence is where our family is from. I was myself born there. My grandmother gave to each of her children a farmhouse when she passed away, and my father gave it to me and my brother when he died... So it is a family house, that we cherish dearly.
It's been in our family for more than 100 years. Each stone, each tree talks to me and has a special meaning... We have a house everybody can fall in love with, with a beautiful view, no neighbours!
Bnojour Celine,
> Thank you very much for the use of your property and house last week. Our family really enjoyed staying there. It was so central to everything as we did many things: We visited Les Baux, Aix en Provence, Avignon, Arles, Abbey Montmajour, Les Carrieres des Lumieres, Eygalieres, Le Chateau de la Barben, went to the open market on Wednesday, went to the bull chasing arena event on Friday evening and enjoyed some restaurants and cafes in the town of St. Remy.
> Provence is such a beautiful place.
> Merci beaucoup pour utiliser Mas Bello Estello. Such a wonderful experience.

We had so much fun At Bello Estello!
It was really close to town and secluded at the same time.
The pool is pretty large and the charm of the old stones really real!
The owner was there to elcome us and when we left.
We enjoyed our stay at the Mas Bello Estello. We were thrilled with its proximity (10 minute walking distance) to the center of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. And we loved our meals on the patio, taking in a breathtaking view of the nearby Alpilles mountain range. The layout of the house floorplan is a little quirky because it is an authentic 18th century building. On the down side, the furniture could benefit from some upgrading for comfort's sake. And the house never felt very clean even right after the cleaning lady had visited. However we were happy with the bedrooms, despite the terrible heat of the summer making for some sticky nights.
The listing is an accurate reflection of the rental property. Céline, the owner's daughter, was extremely helpful and always available before and during our stay.
When you visit, be sure to check out:

La Domaine des Terres Blanches
Le Moulin du Calanquet (olive oils)
