About BRIAN CAMPBELL

We are a family with four kids - all under 8. We live in Washington, DC and enjoy the quick drive to North Beach, which feels a world away from Washington.

Why BRIAN CAMPBELL chose Southern

We bought this property after Hurricane Isabel destroyed much of the town. Over the next two years, we rebuilt the house – largely on weekends and evenings.

What makes this house unique

This home fits our respective lifestyle. If you have any questions at all about the property or town, please call me. While everything is relative to the individual eye - I try to be totally candid about the pros and cons of both the house and the town. Whenever our friends come to visit, they always ask when we can do it again.

Wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

Brian's house is amazing. Nice decor, clean and well maintained, very convenient. Beautiful views on the bay. We really enjoyed the house. Yes, lots of stairs but it was OK for us: we had 3 generations family staying and nobody complained :) The farmers' market was wonderful: we had not had such amazing tomatoes in a while. The beach passes are also provided, which is nice!

Unfortunately, swimming with small kids in the Bay turned out to be dangerous in August due to the "vibrio alert": flesh eating bacteria in dangerous concentrations when the weather is hot. Locals told us they never swim in the bay because of this. Wish we knew that beforehand. But we used the waterpark which was very close by instead, so the kids didn't mind that much in the end.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a perfect stay. This house was perfect for 6 adults and a child. 3rd bedroom a little small, perfect for kids tho. Loved the open floor plan! Walking distance to the beach, a great Mexican restaurant, and a short drive to the grocery store. Everything was there for cooking a meal. Laundry rm was nice to have. Beds comfy, house very accommodating. Down side, LOTS of stairs. Be sure to eat at Abner's (for the experience of eating crabs) Mexican restaurant and hit the farmers mkt on Friday nite. Thank you Brian

Welcome is warm and kid friendly!

  • 5 of 5

We are ready to move in! :) Oh how nice it was to stay at this home, we enjoyed every part of it. I particularly liked all the natural elements, wood, fiber, leather - the wood floors with so much character, furniture inside and outside, the decks and eating area in the kitchen where we created so many memories. The woven wall hangings, pillows and upholstry/blankets. The many books, photos, wall art. Being able to open the French doors and breathe in the fresh air that breezed through the house.

The children were enchanted and at home with everything this home away from home had to offer. Too many amenities to mention though the library/loft ladder, wagon and swings combined with the beautiful outdoors were magical experiences.

Not to mention the enjoyment of everything North Beach has to offer, the farmers market, beach, boardwalk, crabs, Herrington Harbor.

I know the next book I will pick up to read, and we didnt even get into the basement or the walkout from there, or walk much around town. I do hope to visit again soon!

Enjoyable stay at this home

  • 5 of 5

Our three-generation family felt right at home here. Our favorite room was the deck, which has a very good view of the bay, birds, and boats on the horizon. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm (not unbearably hot) weather and lack of bugs during our August stay. The house is exactly as described. It is not a hotel (so don't expect spotless), but it is completely comfortable. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds are good, the bathrooms are clean, the kitchen is well equipped with enough of everything. Plus, the house offers many advantages over a hotel. The children took over the loft and the pool room in the basement and had great fun without worries of disturbing others. The large collection of books, magazines, games, and videos also contributed to everyone's fun. This is obviously a family's second home, but we intuitively liked the family who lives here and felt comfortable. This was the first time we have rented a home instead of a hotel, and Brian was exceptionally responsive in walking us through the details and assuring me that everything would go smoothly--which it did. Because we were in town for a family wedding, we never had time to get to the North Beach, but it looked like fun. We walked on the boardwalk on our way to breakfast and dinner. We liked the food at Blondies and Neptunes. The house is only about 45 minutes from Annapolis. Because we are westerners, some of us ranged as far as Williamsburg and Monticello (about 3 hours away). We tried paddle boarding and kayaking at Herrington Harbor, where some of our family was staying. We almost had time to use the kayak the family leaves in the basement of this house--but then we didn't. I would highly recommend this property. Our hearty thanks to Brian and his family for sharing it with us!
