About Cynthia Kidder

My husband and I love nature and the outdoors. Jeff is a biologist, and I am a musician who has found a love for gardening and hosting. We are transplanted easterners, raised in Pennsylania, later living and learning in Ithaca, New York and Morris Plains, New Jersey. We landed in Colorado ten years ago and have been enjoying the adventure of living under the shadow of the great Rockies ever since.

We are avid explorers of Colorado and would be delighted to suggest local and regional adventures to our guests.

From the moment I opened the door and smelled the lingering scent of a woodsy candle, I knew we were entering a very special place. There are so many lovely and specific-to-the-history details to take in and savor. A bill of sales alongside an old photo of our cabin displayed together from the early fifties, antique postcards depicting local color, fresh flowers from the grounds, a basket of local food treats, two big framed images germane to the area, a unique hanging table made from a tree, a perfect little antique chair, bed linens I would have chosen myself. The more I looked the more I saw. The ride up the mountain was literally breathtaking. The grounds around our cabin, again, perfectly appointed. Treat yourself to a place and time you will be replaying for many years to come.

Great cabin, personal touches, enjoyed our stay.

  • 4 of 5

We were impressed by the personal touches Cynthia included with our stay. She had a lovely card with our names on the counter along with a tiny Indiana flag to welcome us. There was a basket of locally made goodies that we were so grateful for after our long drive. The cabin was neat and clean with everything we could possibly need available to us. We would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay close to Boulder.

Very charming place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We can’t say enough about our stay at this lovely cabin. It is such a charming little studio cabin in the mountains. The owners were so welcoming. They were very careful to explain how everything worked in the cabin when we arrived. They also had lots of ideas of things for us to do in Boulder and the surrounding area. I would highly recommend staying here, we plan on returning next time we are in Boulder!

Boulder Canyon Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Jeff and Cynthia have created a cozy, welcoming haven right on the gorgeous route between Boulder and Nederland - equally convenient to both worlds. We only met Jeff, but he showed us around, answered questions and offered suggestions, along with brochures and plenty of informative literature about the area (including hikes). They set up the kitchen counter with personalized greetings, local snacks and refreshments. We had a nice snowfall one day, so built a fire and stayed in - looking through books, working the cool puzzle and enjoying a (yummy) "take and bake" pizza from a Pearl Street shop.

Traffic is fairly steady along the highway (and can be heard, although not annoyingly, from the cabin), so put your turn signal on early when approaching the bridge. Be ready to turn just after the blue bridge, if coming from Nederland, or just after the 35-mile marker if coming from Boulder.

Comfy bed, nice linens, fresh flowers, real plants, all sorts of nice extras! We felt this place was a bargain, considering all of the special touches, and the location.

Thanks for sharing your cabin with us!

Perfect cozy getaway cabin close to town.

  • 5 of 5

Greeted by Jeff upon arrival. He was a perfect host. Answered all are questions and gave us info about exploring and dining. Cabin was built in 50's but was well maintained and full of character. We had a welcome basket that was full of local Boulder goodies as well as a welcome card personalized just for us! Made us feel right at home. Used fireplace both nights. Very romantic and restful. Would recommend to anyone who wants a more outdoorsy rustic stay in Boulder. 6.5 miles from town. Plus we saw 2 bull moose just 2 miles away from cabin. We'll definitely stay here again. Thanks again Jeff and Cynthia

Cozy cabin with everything you need!

  • 5 of 5

This comfortable cabin was well stocked with everything we might need as well as personal touches including fresh flowers and a gift basket of goodies from Boulder that came in very handy! There was an early snow and we enjoyed a great fire in the fireplace. Walking along Boulder Creek and fishing was a highlight and the proximity to the mountain town of Nederland was great. Close to Boulder and close to the mountains! Perfect! We would definitely stay again!
