My wife and I both had careers as photojournalists in Israel and internationally. My wife is also an award-winning filmmaker. We have traveled extensively around Israel and internationally.
Why Jim chose Mateh Yehuda
It is an ideal place to base one's self if touring Israel, which a small country. Fifteen minutes drive to the Old City and an hour drive to the northern shores of the Dead Sea. Tel Aviv is 45 minutes away. The airport is a mere 25 minutes. We're in the Jerusalem hills, so the weather cools down in the evening. It is quiet and relaxing. Nice gardens. Great place to return to for a swim and an evening drink and listen to the birds' chirp after a day's touring and seeing the country's remarkable sites
What makes this Place unique
We are located in a small village where it is quiet and natural. View of the Jerusalem Forest. Yad Vashem and Mount Herzl on the top. Hiking trails around the village. A 20-minute hike to the Biblical village of Ein Kerem. Very good restaurants. A cafe/restaurant in the village - 5 minutes walk. The same owners have an Asian restaurant in a nearby village - 2o minutes by car. There is also bus transportation into Jerusalem every hour until 11 PM.
