Second time at the cabin. Setting is fantastic.
Beautiful and quiet
Wish there was some steps down to the lil water fall. My stay was wonderful. It is a beautiful place and quiet. We did see a couple deer, too.
Seclusion at it's best!
Absolutely perfect for what the Missus and I were looking for. Pretty good little ride down a one lane gravel road that dead ends into the cabin, the road is well maintained though and caused no problem. The cabin is beautiful, well stocked with the essentials that you might need including an extra full tank for the gas grill. The beds are cozy and comfortable. The deck is super awesome, we sat out there and watched a nice little storm blow through while staying high and dry. Set up my karaoke equipment one night and me and my wife held a little concert for all the wild critters with plenty of room, power, and lighting. Can't rave enough about the deck, we spent probably 95 percent of our waking time there. The only negative for us was that fightingtown creek is virtual inaccessible, even if you happen to be part spider monkey, I don't think I could have gotten to it even as young chap. But that was no big drawback for us, we mostly just wanted to be able to hear it. You can see from the deck that there are some rocks and small falls that create a perfect relaxing babbling brook sound to enjoy. Blue Ridge and Ellijay aren't to far down the road if you need to get back to civilization for dinner and a movie or some good shopping. Overall, for what we were looking for, have to give Fireside Retreat a nice five star rating.
We went on a girls trip and it was wonderful. It is I more in Mccaysville than Blue Ridge but we had a grey time.
Enjoyed our stay
Nice cabin. Just a couple of pointers for people looking to rent it though. I don't think I read the description thoroughly (always an issue when comparing a bunch of properties on VRBO / Airbnb) and the stream really isn't accessible from the cabin. It's at the bottom of a steep slope but I was the only one of the 4 in our party who was up for the climb down. Pity as it's a beautiful little stream. I was there the weekend before Thanksgiving, so it was dark early and cold in the evening, so we had to stay inside and it was a little tight with 4 people. There were only 3 chairs in the living area, though sleeping space for 4. If it was warmer, we could have used the outdoor space (nice big covered deck) and it wouldn't have been a problem, but in the Fall/Winter I'd say this is a one couple cabin.
We did have a tree fall across the private road (!!) but the owners got someone out to cut it out within 1.5 hours, which is pretty prompt when you consider the cabin is well off the beaten path.
I would go back again.
Everything was perfect
This was our best Thanksgiving ever! This place is so beautiful and comfortable. We will certainly be back! Thank you so much😊
