Our Bootlegger Lake Lodge is nestled at the foot of Buffalo and Red Peak Mountains on 26 acres adjacent to national forest land and hiking trails. The house overlooks our private Bootlegger Lake with mountain views across the Blue River Valley and south to Lake Dillon. Views of Keystone Ski Resort's trails are especially prominent in the winter months when they are lit against the snowy backdrop.
The house is within Ruby Ranch, a gated community centrally located within a 15-40 minute drive to 6 major ski areas (Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, Vail and Beaver Creek). The towns of Silverthorne and Dillon are nearby and offer amenities including restaurants, outlet shopping and lots of outdoor activities.
This great wilderness location is a draw for wildlife. Moose are often spotted in the lake, as well as the resident elk herd and numerous other birds and animals.
The lodge is over 3,800sf with 4 bedrooms and has accomodations for 12. Even though we are a secluded loction, wi-fi is available throughout the house as well as cell phone service and cable tv. The master suite has a king bed, walk in closet and master bath with tub, steam shower and washer/dryer. It also features a wall of windows overlooking the lake with access to the balcony. A 2nd bedroom on the main level has a queen bed with a large double closet and a flat screen tv with dvd. The 3rd bedroom on the top floor is perfect for a young family or kids room with a queen bed, bunk beds and a walk in closet. The bottom floor has the 4th bedroom with a king bed. There is a private alcove with a queen log bed and outside access thru sliding glass doors leading to the lake. A trundle bed (2 twins) on this level brings the total to 9 beds.
Also on the bottom floor is a bar with 3 bar stools, full kitchen, entertainment center and ping pong table.
The main floor has a great room with views of Buffalo and Red Peak Mountains and overlooks Bootlegger Lake through floor to ceiling windows. It features vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a stone gas fireplace, flat screen tv and a walk out balcony. The balcony wraps around the house with views east and south and has wrought iron patio furniture and a gas grill.
The gourmet kitchen overlooks the Blue River Valley to the west and features granite counters, chef grade appliances, and a breakfast bar with 4 bar stools next to a huge dining room table that accomodates 14.
A spacious 2 car garage has ski racks and access to the house through a mudroom . There is a drying room on the bottom floor for drying wet clothes and ski boots.
Winter activities are highlighted by easy driving distance to 6 major ski areas. Keystone, A-Basin, Breckenridge, Copper, Vail and Beaver Creek offer varied terrain and experiences. The nearby town of Frisco has groomed Nordic trails and sledding hills. There is access to the Mesa Cortina and Gore trails from our backyard for snowshoeing or Nordic skiing.
Non skiing activities start with the outlet stores and restaurants in Silverthorne. There are quaint shops on Frisco's main street, and even a gold mine to explore in Breckenridge. Silverthorne also has a rec center with 3 indoor pools, a water slide, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, racquetball courts, basketball courts exercise room, weights and an indoor running track.
The warmer months allow you to fully explore the hiking trails behind the house. There is a waterfall an hour hike away, and great vistas hiking either north or south. Bike rentals in Dillon and Silverthorne enable you to access the miles of bike trails as far as the vail pass. Boats can be rented at the Dillon marina for a day on Lake Dillon. The Raven golf course is adjacent to the Ruby Ranch and there are 3 others within 30 minutes drive.
For the fishermen, the South Willow creek behind the house has wild native trout and the Blue River is a well known Blue Medal Stream as evidenced by the fly fishermen fishing it year round. Hunting the Gore Range is easily accessible through our 26 acres.
