The patio is furnished with an umbrella table and four chairs and a charcoal barbeque grill for outdoor cooking. The tropical landscaping, tradewinds, bubbling water garden and wind chime add to the tropical ambiance.

The sitting room is furnished in charming 1940's vintage Hawaiian rattan with a sofa, two lounge chairs, floor lantern, table lamp with side table and includes a TV, with VHS and DVD player and internet service via Oceanic-Time Warner home, secure WIFI service via a password.

The sliding glass doors and large slider window in the sitting room have a garden view, and face the tradewinds providing good ventilation from the garden side of the cottage.

The kitchen is equipped with a full size built-in refrigerator-freezer, pantry cupboards and sink. It is outfitted with the basic kitchen utensils, dishes, and flatware for 6, glasses, wine glasses, a large electric skillet w/lid, hotplate, toaster, toaster-oven, coffee maker, rice cooker, crock-pot, microwave & charcoal outdoor grill.

Additional bedding and towels are available. The bedroom has a queen bed, bedside tables with reading lamps, as well as an overhead ceiling fan/light and 8' wardrobe closet with mirror doors. A small window air conditioner services the bedroom if needed.

We have provided an iron and over-the-door ironing board for your convenience, beach towels, beach chairs, 2 Boogie Boards and a cooler.

This cottage location is convenient to shopping and activities on the bus line to Honolulu, through either Kailua town or Kaneohe. We are 5 houses from the Kaneohe Yacht Club if you are a sailing enthusiast and member of another yacht club with reciprocal arrangements.

We are approximately two to three miles from Kailua Beach (5 minute drive), a beautiful long beach and a great place to swim or just go for a walk. Kayak and wind & kite-surfing rentals and instruction are available from various vendors in Kailua who will deliver the equipment to you at Kailua Beach Park. One vendor was available on the beach behind the Kalapawai Store, but you would want to check if interested.

There are also catamaran tours operated out of Kaneohe Bay for an afternoon or morning of snorkeling, and other watersport activities.

There is a small shopping complex about 1.5 miles away from the cottage, with a Safeway store, nice wine shop with local deli, several restaurants, a Bank of Hawaii, as well as a gas station.

About Jackie Black

We enjoy and have lived in this home since 2000 and the previous 20 years in our home just 2 doors away. We have found it to be very convenient to Kailua & Kaneohe towns, Honolulu, the Honolulu Airport as well as Kailua Beach.

We have had an advertising business since 1972 and I am a watercolor painter as well.

My husband grew up on Oahu and enjoys being able to share his local knowledge of the islands with our guests.

Sailing in Kaneohe Bay is a passion of ours and we are out on the bay every weekend either sailing in Kaneohe Bay, off-shore, between the islands and around oahu.

Jackie Black purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Jackie Black chose East Oahu

We sold our home on the bay in 2000 after the last of our children left home and found this property to be perfect for our needs.

It provides a separate 'Ohana' rental with the comforts of a 'home away from home' for returning families, visiting family here as well as other visitors to the islands.

Temporary work bring some of our guests here to stay with us, others are military guests who need temporary housing and other visitors are building lifelong memories of their Hawaiian holiday.

Our cottage also serves as extra space for our own returning family as well. They enjoy having their own space. This is also true of other returning families, many who return each year.

What makes this cottage unique

We are happy to have this space on our property for our guests and family to stay.

The enclosed patio and garden provides the space and privacy for your outdoor enjoyment and bbqs.

It is conveniently located to Kailua Beach and the round-the-island route for exploring and enjoying our beautiful islands with its numerous beaches.

H-1 & H-3 provide access close by for a fast route to Honolulu, Pearl Harbor or the Honolulu Airport.

Some of our guests prefer not to drive so air conditioned bus service & stops are just a few doors away and will get you most anywhere or all the way around the island of Oahu. The Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, Sea Life Park and Hanauma Bay are all accessible by bus, although transfers may be necessary.

We have found most of our guests need internet access while visiting so beginning May 2011, we are adding a high speed internet connection.

We have parking right in front of the cottage at no additional cost. Some guests have remarked that the hotels in Waikiki charge $20/day to park your car,

whether or not it is used.

Children are welcome and the enclosed private patio and the additional electric remote gate across the property, keeps them from getting to the Bay Drive.

A 20% Deposit of the TOTAL (Rental fee, Tax and Departure Cleaning Fee) is due upon booking. The balance would be due 30 days prior to arrival. We suggest Travel Insurance to cover your cost for any unexpected reason for cancellation. We make every effort to rebook the reserved dates, but at a late date, that is not always possible.

We are not set up to take Debit or Credit Cards. A personal or business imprinted Check, Cashier's Check, Money Order, Traveler's Checks, Western Union, or a Bank to Bank wire transfer are all fine. We may take credit cards in the future, but are not set up for that now. The $10 Debit Fee our bank charges to receive the wire would be additional.
