Adding this note which applies only from November 2018 through February 2019:
Every 4 years our lake association lets the lake down for 3 months for homeowners to work on their docks, build new boathouses, etc. This drawn begins this November 1st , 2018. It should not noticeably affect the lake the weekend of November 3 and 4 but it will be noticeable the following weekend and fishing and boating will be an issue from then until the lake comes back up the end of February.
But this is still a beautiful area with lots to do nearby. This comfy lake side cottage offers everything you need for a wonderful stay on beautiful Lake Cherokee. It's an easy drive to Clemson, Cashiers, Lake Keowee, Lake Jocassee, Long Creek, Walhalla, several waterfalls, and much more. Greenville is about an hour. It sits next to Sumpter National Forest for great hiking. Lake Cherokee is a private lake and only insured owners are allowed boats. Jet skis are also not allowed even for homeowners here. The good news: we have a row boat, and a canoe, which are usually available to share with our guests. We also have youth kayaks to share. If you would like the trolling motor for the row boat we ask for a $25.00 contribution to our trolling motor fund to keep batteries good, charged, etc. Clear water, fishing, (catch and release but okay to take out any size carp). Beautiful mountain vistas make this an unforgettable family or couples getaway. Sit by a campfire in the evening or just enjoy the solitude from your deck or the dock.
