A secluded tiny neighborhood filled with the history of why folks come to the mountains is what you will find at our cottage on Leatherwood Lane. Locals tell the story that when America entered WWII a couple of the Warner Brothers (of movie fame) decided to move out of Hollywood fearing enemy attack on the Pacific coast. Hendersonville is where they landed and one developed what is now known as Country Club Estates. The Warners built a large home and surrounded it with cottages for their friends and colleagues. All still remain long after the brothers packed up and went back to California after the war. Stone wall lined lanes add to the vintage surroundings that help you understand why the North Carolina mountains have drawn those seeking refuge and comfort for generations.
The neighborhood’s stone pillar entrance is across the street from the Hendersonville Country Club and a mile from main street but you’ll likely only see a couple of neighbors’ cars and the mail lady drive by on any given day on this quiet cul-de-sac facing a circular park filled with azaleas and dogwoods… the wooden front porch with rockers provides just the right view. The back yard is home to cardinals, goldfinch, chickadees and many other native birds along with the inevitable squirrels and chipmunks which you can watch from the kitchen and dining table. From the decks in the back yard you can look up Azalea Trail walking path which is beautiful in any season.
Our cottage is cozy and bright and includes two bedrooms, two full bathrooms and washer and dryer -along with central heat and air. The family room is all set with a Wi-Fi Smart TV in the event you want to stay inside and miss all that Hendersonville and the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer. Downtown has countless excellent stores and restaurants to take in as well as music venues and breweries. Dupont Forest and Pisgah National Forest are nearby and have too many waterfalls, hiking trails and mountain bike trails to list. Head the other direction for Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Whichever path you take, Azalea Trail Cottage is the perfect home base.

The cottage was very comfortable and clean. It is small but was perfect for a weekend with my daughters. The location was great, close to Asheville, Dupont State Forest and downtown Hendersonville. It had everything we needed!
Thanks for your kind words Anna. Glad our cottage was what you were looking for. Hope you are able to stay again in the future.
