Created in 1295 by Charles II d'Anjou, this village has kept its picturesque charm with the progression of the centuries. Villefranche-sur-Mer is blessed with a Mediterranean climate; mild in winter and very warm in summer.

LOCATION:

Built in 1700 and fully remodeled in 2006, this apartment is in picturesque Villefranche-sur-Mer. This flat is ideal for spending a relaxing week exploring the French Riviera. Artists and writers such as Cocteau, Volti, and Goetz have flocked to this seaside village to be inspired by its scenic views and slower pace of living.

CENTRALLY LOCATED:

From the apartment, it is only a 30-minute drive west to the Nice International Airport and a 30-minute drive east to the Italian border town of Ventimiglia. It is a 15-minute drive/bus/train ride to the city of Nice and 15 minutes to the country of Monaco. The city of Villefranche-sur-Mer is accessible by train and the station is a five-minute walk from the apartment.

This apartment in Villefranche was the perfect base for my family's stay in France. Although the building is over 300 years old, the apartment itself has been thoroughly modernised and it is comfortable and quiet. Its location is convenient for walking to the beach and to shops and for catching the bus or train; we never needed to rent a car to visit other towns on the Cote D'Azur. The rent is frankly less than we were paying to stay at our usual rental at the beach on the East Coast of the US, and the surroundings were certainly more interesting and beautiful. Eating meals prepared in our own kitchen saved us a lot of money. I would highly recommend this rental property.

Myself and my long suffering husband returned today from a 4 day break in Villefranche sure mer. The photos on the website are very accurate and the place is spotless and excellently furnished. This apartment offers the best of both worlds. Situated close to the waterfront in the old town, it has neither the noise of traffic nor the bluster of the fun and frolics of the great restaurants on the waterfront. Yet, the beach and these same restaurants are just a stones throw away. We landed at Nice airport and gor the 98 bus and 80 bus the V'franche and were 35 minutes in transit. the train station with its magical train ride thru' Cannes, Antibes, Monaco are 3 minutes from your door.

A perfect place for a car-less trip to this wonderful area- without the headache of parking. The owners are really helpful and the whole experience was very pleasant adding to great break away.

Excellent base for a wonderful holiday.

This apartment is spacious and brilliantly appointed. It is a short walk to the beach and the cafes, restaurants and shops of beautiful Villefranche sur Mer. We've had a glorious week! Highly recommend and so much character in the old part of the town. Erin ( owner) and Lauretta ( manager ) were delightful to deal with.

Villafrenche is awesome!

Monaco? Nah... Nice? It's..ok. Villafrenche sur-mer? Could not be better!! What a great spot right in between the two big cities. Our accommodations were great. We had 6 adults in this place and we were comfortable. We had mom and dad (in our 50's) and 4 adult children who shared the two queen beds. You better be "fit" to climb the stairs up to the unit though; at is very narrow and steep. Once you are up there, it is great. Lauretta was our property manager and she was super helpful and very responsive. Not only that, she was on time which is very important when waiting for a key. Thanks Lauretta. We would have spent three times as much money in a hotel.

I would have given 5 stars but the staircase knocked it down one.

Great Location, Nicely Appointed

The 2-bed, 1 1/2 bath apartment is nicely maintained and contains the updates you'd want in a historic structure (including 3 heat pumps -- one in each bedroom and one in the kitchen/dining/living area). It's a great location with good functionality. The only two digs that can be made of this apartment are the very steep stairs to get in and out -- my wife and I are in our mid-60's and did just fine - but many will find it challenging. And, there's no view. Since the Riviera is one continuous beach-sea landscape, we didn't mind not paying the premium cost that would have accompanied a view. We had some amazing meals just a couple of minutes out the front door, and shopping for fresh produce and breakfast items was equally easy. If the French would just recognize that the train system would be so much more accessible with bi-lingual instructions on their automated ticket kiosks -- like most European laundromats are fully capable of providing - then the tourist experience would be sublime.

Terrific stay!

We stayed in this beautiful apartment for 3 weeks with our two children. Perfect location - beach, shops and the train station are all just a (very) short walk, but just far enough to be quite at night. We had a plumbing issue that the manager attended to very prompty.

Overall, had one of our best holidays and will definitely be back!

Lovely Rental in Villefranche Sur Mer

We rented this beautiful Villefranche Sur Mer apartment from Erin, the owner from mid Feb to mid March, 2016 for one month. Erin is a perfect apartment owner and an absolute delight to work with from the Get Go! Through our many emails and inquiries, she was always quick to respond providing us with very detailed info and explanations.

The apartment is very spacious, attractive, comfortable, extremely well stocked/equipped (as noted by all renters), easily accessable to the train station (2 short train stops to Nice, 3 stops to Monaco etc), to the beach/waterfront and restaurants, fresh daily bread, amazing frozen food store, grocery (1 train stop to Beaulieu for major shopping and bring a suitcase to carry grocery, a brilliant idea shared by the apt manager). The master queen size bed is very comfortable with many options of beddings, a large second bedroom with two twin beds which we used as a huge walk-in closet since there were only two of us; the apartment is extremely quiet for the entire month, day and night. May I suggest the installation of some blinds/shutters for the living room to give us privacy and a handle bar inside the shower stall.

In addition, Erin’s apartment manager, Lauretta, is a joy to work with. Whenever we had a problem with the apt, she was quick to action and offered to wait for the tradesman to complete the work so we can go about with our sightseeing. She really came to our rescue in arranging an airport transfer for the very early flight to Nice on our trip home.

May I suggest also, if you are seniors like us, to pack lighter and smaller suitcases, as the stairs up to the apartment are steep.

Thank you Erin for sharing your beautiful apartment with us, and to Lauretta for all your help. We WILL be back as we had the time of our lives. I can’t think of a better place to celebrate my big birthday!
