Why Pete & Esther Maina chose Hayward
When we travel we use VRBO and have rented homes for our own vacations. We have been both elated and disappointed with some of the rental properties. Our home with always be clean, comfortable and you will feel at home the minute you walk in the door. We know what you expect based on our own experiences!
What makes this Cabin unique
Your dog is welcome with certain conditions (One dog included in fee, additional dogs are $10.00 per night. Pets are not allowed on furniture, bedding and must not be left alone in the home).
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
A Great Lake getaway
We spent 5 nights here and just got home. We really enjoyed our stay. And our dogs did also! The remote location was a huge win for us. And also being only 10 miles from Hayward was great too. We were a straight shot to our daughter’s camp on 77.
At first I was worried about no AC, but in the evenings it cooled down nicely to 69-71 degrees in the house. We keep our house at 70, so that worked well for us.
We loved being able to grill. And there were plates and all other needed things at the house. In tradition we left some things behind for the next tenants :).
Lovely, lovely and lovely. Thank you!!!!
Relaxing Fun Family Vacation
We enjoyed a wonderful week at this property with our two kids. The cabin was even nicer in person, the photos do not do it justice. The cabin was nicely decorated and furnished with everything you could need. We cooked breakfast daily as well as numerous lunches and dinners. The kitchen had many different pots, pans, and utensils to accommodate for any type of meal we cooked. The numerous Dish TVs came in handy on the couple rainy days we had to entertain the kids and were nice to have to watch a movie at night together. We put all of the kayaks, canoe, and water mat to good use. We kayaked and fished every day. Our 8 year old was able to catch too many fish to count each day including a couple massive bass which was thrilling for a little boy. We used the canoe to tow the water mat out into the middle of the lake for the kids to play on. The little beach was great for our 3 yr old. The owners were super responsive and even dropped off a large brand new fan for us unrequested on a day the temperature was high and sent us a message to let us know they had box fans in the basement if we needed them. We did not see a single person on the lake or the few properties around it until our last day which made for a secluded and relaxing week with the lake entirely to ourselves. We saw an otter in the lake, loons swam next to my kayak each morning when I went out for a paddle and could be heard each night, we also saw turtles and three wild turkeys were also in the yard and a short visit by a Bear which we heard outside the cabin one night. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. If your looking for hiking we did a trip to Copper Falls State Park , an hour away, well worth it, beautiful park with many waterfalls one trail is short about a mile and a half or so and takes you along all the falls. The Ranch Supper Club was great and right down the road, go on Friday for the fish fry, amazing cod and walleye.
Cozy cabin on a lovely lake
This is a great cabin for a couple or family. Everything was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped with all the utensils, appliances, pots and pans one would need. The lake had loons, herons, muskrat, and an eagle or two. If you are looking for a quiet lake without motors, this spot is perfect. We enjoyed using the canoe and kayaks and appreciated that Esther put up a mosquito proof tent next to the lake. As a bonus there was access to the basement so we could store a bike during our stay. Thank you Esther for making your lovely cabin available.
We stayed at the cabin for Memorial Day weekend with a couple of our friends and had a spectacular time. The pictures don't do it justice. The cabin is beautiful and immaculately clean. Well-equipped kitchen and nice grill. Comfortable furniture and high-quality bedding (the bunk beds even have extra space for adults so you don't bonk your head if you sit up). The lake is calm and quiet and we had fun taking out the canoe and stand-up paddle board. Hayward is just a 15 minute drive for supplies or a dinner at the Angry Minnow. We hope to stay here again soon and would recommend it to anyone (it would be a great place with kids, too)!
Our Favorite Place to Stay near Hayward!
Another wonderful visit! Winter at the cabin is peaceful and relaxing. We did some hikes and some snowshoeing, some shopping, and lots of R&R. The dogs had a blast jumping into snowbanks and nosing all the new smells. The cabin is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and Esther is wonderful. We'll be back!
Had an amazing trip up to Hayward. The cabin is perfect and very well maintained. Nice and private and beautiful trees covered in snow! The hosts were very accommodating and responsive. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend! Can't wait to be back!
