Vacations are a chance to spoil yourself, and there’s no better place to do so than Knotty 'N Nice. The 2-bedroom, the 2-bathroom cabin offers plenty of luxuries—an outdoor hot tub, an indoor jetted tub, a pool table, 4 TVs with cable and DVD players—along with glorious views of the Great Smoky Mountains and woodlands. All that, and it’s just a 5-minute drive to downtown Gatlinburg.
A typical day begins with you rising well rested from one of the cabin’s 2 king-size beds. Because there’s a master bedroom on each of Knotty 'N Nice’s 2 floors, the cabin can accommodate 2 couples as graciously as it can a family. In fact, it’s even suitable for 2 families, as each floor also has a sofa that converts into a bed, enabling up to 8 people to spend the night.
Once out of bed, you’ll pad to the kitchen to brew a cup of coffee—and maybe fry up some eggs while you’re at it. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances, cookware, and tableware you could possibly need. There’s a dishwasher too because spoiling yourself means not having to scrub plates after each meal.
Bring your breakfast out to the porch that spans the width of the cabin. Sit down at the picnic table or the porch swing and listen to the chickadees and swallows greet the day as a fresh mountain breeze rustles through the tree branches. If you want to truly indulge, head to the lower-level deck and laze in the hot tub. It’ll have been emptied, sanitized, and refilled prior to your arrival, so you can rest easy as you revel in the steamy jets of water.
After washing up in one of Knotty 'N Nice’s 2 full bathrooms—one on each floor—you might want to drive to town to check out the aquarium and the Guinness Museum of World Records. Or drive just a few minutes longer to Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park and Ski Area; in the winter you can ski and snowboard, while the rest of the year you can play mini golf or ride the roller coaster. Just as close is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, where you can hike, ride horses, fish, and explore to your heart’s content.
By this point, you’re probably ready to return to Knotty 'N Nice for a nap or a bath in the main level’s indoor jetted tub. The pulsing of the water will unknot your tired muscles and have you rarin’ to go all over again—even if by “go” you mean heading to the living room, where you can stretch out on the ample couch with that book you never have time to enjoy at home. Or maybe you’ll want to post pictures of your day’s adventures on Facebook and Instagram; the cabin has free WiFi, so go right ahead!
Having worked up an appetite, you might be making dinner plans. Downtown Gatlinburg has a bevy of restaurants to choose from a steakhouse, pizzeria, barbecue pit, seafood eatery. Then again, Knotty 'N Nice is so restful, with its burnished wood floors and walls, cathedral ceilings, and picture-perfect views from the dining table, that you might want to spend the rest of the evening in.
As well as the kitchen, there’s a charcoal grill on the porch, so you can choose to cook as well as dine alfresco. Afterward, gather together in the living room to watch a movie—it’s especially cozy in winter when you have the warmth of the gas fireplace. Or head down to the game room to shoot some pool or play one of the arcade table’s 60 games.
The night will have flown by, but you’ll want to head out to the porch for one last nightcap under the twinkling stars. Listen to the owls and whip-poor-wills sing you a lullaby before snuggling into bed for another great night’s sleep.
If this sounds like a dream vacation, you’re in luck: It’s easy to make this dream come true. All you have to do is book your stay at Knotty 'N Nice!
